Perfectly located in the Main Street of Kingscote, we have a wide range of food and beverages to satisfy that hunger generated by sightseeing. Whether you are looking for a coffee and cake or a full lunch feast Roger's Deli has it all. While you are eating take advantage of the huge selection of newspapers and magazines for sale in the newsagent which is also in store
Excellent coffee, hot, strong, had lactose free for me. Opens at 8am so I could grab one each morning before heading out. Best coffee on the island

We have a large range of seafood meals, fish can be battered, crumbed, or grilled. The fish is from the pristine waters around Kangaroo Island. We also have a retail option for seafood lovers to take home. Meal Times are Monday to Sunday 12.00 midday to 8.00 pm Fresh seafood available 9.00AM to 8.00PM 7 days a week.
We visited here (twice) on our recent trip to Kangaroo Island. It was the best fish and chips we have ever tasted. We had crumbed whiting. The pineapple fritters were amazing. We came back into Kingscote especially just to have it a second time. Highly recommended.

It's the restaurant of the aurora ozone hotel but you can eat there even if you are not staying at the hotel.
Had lunch here recently, lovely location with views across the bay from the Bistro. Partner had a beef burger and I chose the open steak Sandwich. Burger okay, but the steak Sandwich was very over cooked a thin round disc - could have used as a frisbee. I tried cutting with steak knife, without much joy, so sent back. They did offer me something else from the menu, so ended up having a burger, okay but nothing special. Can’t see us making a return visit.

We stopped in twice over our 5 day stay on KI for a decent caffeine fix. One of the few places with great coffee on the Island. Paired with a dark chocolate "echidna", we found a relaxed atmosphere and friendly owners. They roast their own beans on-site also.

Located on the main street we offer fresh homemade food accompanied by some of the Island's best coffee and cakes for which we try to source our ingredients locally. We aim to cater for most needs and are child and dog friendly. Our hand made South Australian fudges are to die for, home made KI honey ice cream has been added to the menu. Best breakfast in Kingscote six days a week. Closed Sundays and public holidays
We read all the great reviews and walked up and down the street trying to find it. The address on TripAdvisor was wrong (its opposite the deli) so I've sent thru updates to TripAdvisor.
Unfortunately for us it was a disaster. We ordered the raisin toast which we got with small packets of butter which had turned to oil because they had been placed on top of the toast. They were the old style small thin slices of toast rather than the newer thicker more delicious "cafe" style, so it was like eating cardboard.
My partner ordered a flat white coffee. It came very watery, with very little coffee flavour and no froth on top. Obviously made by someone who had never been trained to use a coffee machine. Staff need to be trained as baristas if they are expected to make coffee correctly. We got charged $4.50 for a cup of coffee which could not be drunk.
On the bright side, the vanilla milkshake was one of the best I have had in years! Icy cold and with lots of ice-cream and flavouring.
However, the staff member who rang up the order on the till got it all wrong and overcharged us quite a bit. We only got our money back when we asked why we had been charged so much.
It was an unfortunate choice of cafe for us. It's really a quick Aussie take away shop rather than a proper cafe doing high quality food and drinks.
We won't be back.

We ate at the Queenscliff Hotel a couple of times whilst staying at the excellent Kangaroo Island Seaside Inn (see my separate review) on the recommendation of the owner and based on our research prior to our travels.
We booked both evenings as it does get busy and people eat rather earlier here than we normally do. The dining area was rather spartan but the service was friendly and the food and beer was good. However we were rather disappointed as on both the evenings we visited, the lamb on the menu and a number of other options had sold out despite us visiting earlier the second time - good food otherwise.

What a lovely country restaurant to come across, after a morning's outing from Kingscote, Kangaroo Island, South Australia. You order your pizza at the counter, many topping choices available. Staff are very friendly and helpful. We also ordered as dessert, after our vegetarian pizza, slices of cheese cake, to go with the coffee; you can make your own at the table provided, at the cost of just $2. Among other items there were artistic cards of local flora on sale, all reproduced from original paintings. The Restaurant is set in a surrounding garden scene, certainly a place of must-visit when in Kingscote.
