With water, water everywhere, visitors to Kill Devil HIlls indulge in fishing and crabbing, quiet kayaking, robust surfing or parasailing, peaceful seaside cycling and that favorite, toes-in-the-sand enjoyment of the beach. This barrier island township is the center of the Northern beach and home to about 7,000 year-round residents. Summer welcomes visitors anxious to share the natural landscapes and village-like appeal. Savor long stretches of Atlantic views and silky sands. If you’re a history buff, visit area lighthouses and the National Memorial honoring Wilbur and Orville Wright, who accomplished the first controlled powered flight in 1903. In nearby Kitty Hawk, Seascape Golf Links challenge players with changing elevations and coastal landscapes. A popular day trip just 17 miles to the southwest, the Fort Raleigh National Historic Site, Elizabeth Gardens and live performances of “The Lost Colony” combine to preserve and present the background of Native American culture and Sir Walter Raleigh’s colonization efforts in the late 1500’s.

3 Locations in the Outer Banks: Kill Devil Hills at MP 6, Nags Head at the Milepost 10.5 Shoppes, and Manteo at the stoplight Highway 64/264 next to RD Sawyer Ford. Open daily year around from 6 AM-6PM. Free wifi with power.
How is this not establishment special? It served us weak and expensive coffee and there were not many bakery items to choose from. If I'm having coffee from a chain it's going to have to be reliable and consistent. I'll take Starbucks any day!

Warm, Delicious and Made To Order Donuts served with locally roasted Kill Devil Hills coffees, premium orange juice or milk. Breakfast sandwiches, muffins & cookies also available at this location.
OK, so I am not supposed to eat that much sugar, but one donut probably will not ruin my life. These donuts are simply the very best, tasty, hot, fresh, sweet. The bacon makes them out of this world delicious. Glad we have one in G-Boro when I'm not at the beach.

Serving lunch & dinner Monday through Saturday and brunch on Sunday in the heart of Colington Island! Stop on in to taste an array of eats from Chefs and Owners, Randolph Sprinkle & Amanda Wolf. You won't be disappointed We accept reservations!
Because you amazing people deserve it! As you drive down Colington Road you might think that you missed The Saltbox Café. (It's about a mile past another great Colington restaurant. Never eaten at that one, but, hear good things.) Back to this very special place. Man oh man...let's start with THE SOUP! OMG! THAT SOUP! A red curry crab soup that likely had a hint of coconut milk, was so outstanding. One of the best soup, (AND IT HAS CRAB IN IT!), that my friend and I agreed we'd EVER eaten. (She got a pint to go. Wish I had.) Our entrees of Gyro, crab cake sandwich & Crab Roll were all super great. I loved the Gyro. Last but not least was dessert. (Wish I'd taken a picture!) Coconut Cream Pie. Generous slice was easy to share 3 ways. This amazing little café is such a gem in the rough. I haven't been in a while only because of driving distance, but, many more people have discovered you. Glad for that. This is one of my very favorites on the Outer Banks. What am I saying? This place is one of my very favorites, period!

A quaint little coffee shop tucked away in the Dunes Shops mini strip mall, on the main OBX road. Very limited seating inside and a couple seats outside. They offer soups, salads, panini, wraps, sandwiches, breakfast items, smoothies, juices, speciality coffees and ice cream drinks. Rather pricey. A protein smoothie & muffin was $12.00.

Nestled off the beaten path in a Victorian house surrounded by 400 year-old oak trees, we are a local's favorite. Our seafood is brought in fresh daily, and we use locally grown ingredients. All the locals love our filet dishes as well as our large menu. All desserts are homemade. We are a family run restaurant with most of our staff having been with us for over 15 years. We do everything to make sure all of our customers leave happy.
Seems like the place to go for a gourmet meal. Southern service. Ambiance is an old house. Go check it out.I am so glad you enjoyed your time at The Colington Cafe. We really appreciate you taking out the time to share with others. Happy Holidays.

A family friendly restaurant where everything is prepared to order including our award winning frozen custard treats .We make it fresh hourly. We also have Juicy Better Burgers , Fresh cut Beach fries , all beef Hotdogs ,N.C. Pulled Pork or Chicken BBQ , and Veggie Burgers .Celebrating our 15th year .
Went tonight and was very disappointed. I paid over 7 dollars for the smallest hot fudge/ peanut butter sundae. I was shocked at the scant amount of hot fudge that was added to the sundae, maybe one teaspoon at best. I did think the custard tasted incredible but was shocked at the small size and scant toppings relative to the high price.

TRiO is an exciting retail and tasting destination with both a gourmet retail wine, beer and cheese shop as well as a bistro with a wine bar and tap house.
So if you want a robust selection of beer, wines from reasonable to "a special anniversay or birthday treat", and a wonderful collection of cheeses, you should stop as well. There is a wine, beer, sandwich bar to fuel your trip to your beach, family home, or for the next leg of a longer trip. We heartily recommend Trio where you can find everything you need for a good time!

Stopped here our first night in Kill Devil Hills. After a 20 minute wait we were seated. It is a very popular place. The steak meal was already sold out. Nonetheless, we had fish on grits, mother stcks, chicken gumbo and a great porter and local IPA.

This place has the best homemade ice cream around. Lots of flavors to choose from. The serving sizes are huge. They also serve good pizza and lots of sandwich choices. Limited indoor seating, some outdoor seating. Friendly service.
