Chalcis (/ˈkælsɪs/; Ancient Greek & Katharevousa: Χαλκίς, Chalkís) or Chalkida (Modern Greek: Χαλκίδα, [xalˈciða]) is the chief town of the island of Euboea in Greece, situated on the Euripus Strait at its narrowest point. The name is preserved from antiquity and is derived from the Greek χαλκός (copper, bronze), though there is no trace of any mines in the area. In the late Middle Ages, it was known as Negropont(e), an Italian name that has also been applied to the entire island of Euboea.

After some difficulties to find the restaurant (the location marker of trip Advisor shows it in the middle of the sea, nowhere and with a wrong street number) we most enjoyed eating in this restaurant. We eat inside as the weather was not for outside eating. The ambience and the character of the restaurant were cozy and pleasant. The menu was not extensive but the selection of plates was ample and very interesting. You could see that this was a modern fusion style of Greek and international cooking. All the plates and desserts we tried were very tasty and well presented. The service was good and the waiters polite and attentive.
I would have rated the restaurant as excellent if there was a small hiccup between our main meal and desserts. We were served our desserts (which were excellent) without previously the waiters to have cleaned up our tables from the crumbs and some empty food plates (very usual for many Greek restaurants) I protested to the head waiter and ask them to clean up the table, remarking that this was not appropriate for the class of the restaurant. The waiters immediately followed my request taking away the desserts and cleaning up the table first.
We found the rates reasonable for the quality of the restaurant, Overall we had a very good experience at this place which is not the usual Greek tavern and certainly will come back. There is an outdoors space overlooking a small port so it must be a very nice spot in summer.
Until TA will correct the address and location marker it is worth to notice that the exact address of the restaurant is at the corner of "Ethnikis Symfiliossis 2, and Drakopoulou streets" also to notice that Google Maps are wrong and present the beginning of Ethnikis Symfiliossis as "Apostolidou" street. If you go by Google maps you will find the restaurant at the corner of Drakopoulou and Apostolidou streets.

Our lunch at Kapetanios was highly enjoyable. The place is spotlessly clean, the fish served was fresh and very tasty and the service was commendable. On top of it, prices are very reasonable.
This is a restaurant I would like to visit again and I have no hesitation in highly recommending it.

We are going to Khalkis very often but somehow we had missed this nice seafood restaurant. We visited it in mid-April when it was still chilly for Seating outside in the evening so we had our dinner indoors. The interior was very pleasant but Seating outside in summer at the Promenade next to the sea must be a delight. Although the restaurant was full the service was reasonably fast and the waiters attentive to our needs. All the traditional Greek meze we tried were good and tasty. No complaint about this. Our only problem the management was allowing customers to smoke inside the restaurant in spite the prohibiting law. But this is a problem with most local restaurants in Greece when you are eating inside.

Chalkitha is famous for informal small taverns called ouzeri.
All of them take advantage of some Greece's best sea food to produce unforgettable small plates called mezethes, with the most famous being sun-dried octopus on charcoal and the small red mullet koutsomoura, panfried, in season.
The town and the area is full of them and most of them are quite good.
Tsaf belongs to another tier. It is not good ... it is excellent making nearly impossible to compare. The food here is Michelin stared and very Greek.
Concept: Primarily a sea food meze tavern using daily cathhed fish from the Evoiki sea. 19/20
Food: Simple and divine.... kali orexi ... 18/20
Service: Greek..... charming .... unrehearsed .... 16/20
Atmosphere and Decor: Well done, a tavern with character. 16/20
Value: For NY, Paris, London a bargain, for Chalkitha excellent 18/20
Would I go back: yes as long as i am alive

I was volunteering in Chalkida, and on my third night friends took me to Copper (χαλκός Greek). This restaurant is hidden away near the Ekklisia Agia Paraskevi church. They specialize in meze (Small plates), we always dined as a group and would do the family ordering (share) style.
The food is excellent and the quality of the food is excellent.
This became one of my favourite spots.
I will definitely return anytime that I'm in the area.

The place but not open for lunch on Christmas Day around noon but we spent some time on the beach facing porch of the Resturant. The views are stunning and service is excellent. The guy at the bar even offered to provide some bread for lunch incase we wanted to hang in with the kids.

Delicious food and good beer in an Italian restaurant right at the old bridge of Chalkida. Marvelous views. Can be combined with a walk around the center and along the Promenade. Greek owners specializing in Italian cuisine. Very well arranged interior with utmost attention to every detail. Friendly service. Highly recommended.

Khalkis is well-known for the quality shells and seafood. Maybe because of the unique tide flows of the sea around there, shells are especially tasty. Some say their shells are quite different from those in other places. You can enjoy fresh fish as well. The service was excellent and friendly. Quite crowded even at dinner time in the weekdays.

"We know that this shop the whole idea is" stolen "from tsipouradika Volos. Nevertheless we want to give a more fashionable and fresh air in what we know so far. Our philosophy is: clean and friendly environment, quality and good prices. We will strive continuously, so you can enjoy it ... "
Very nice restaurant with nice dishes in the concept of Volo's tsipouradica. "You can only order the liquer ouzo or tsipouro, and the bring together some small apetizers (mezedes). Nice taste and very good prices. Only con that they have many frozen ingredients. However that is how they can keep the prices low on this type of seafood.
Recomended !
