We ate at the new addition or backyard as they call it. Service was pretty pretty slow. Their efforts at a more eclectic menu fall short of their goal. Definitely recommend the beer and the ambience of the location, however I would skip the food unless you want a basic burger at their main facility.

Here is another easy to find, surprising COunbtry Feel Market. These folks have an Old Fashioned Meat Market, Fesh Produce and they Do Pizza and a full deli with impressive burgers. Of course, they are a market, so the usual needs for Bread, Beer and so on, can all be located at this little country market

A very small café in the heart of Kernville. I was very surprised at the quality of the food. I had the Chicken Fried Steak. It was Not a piece of frozen meat, but a real tenderized round steak dipped in a egg batter and cooked to perfection. It covered the plate. Scrambled eggs with cheese and a bowl of fresh fruit rounded out breakfast. They also served a large homemade biscuit covered with sausage gravy. More food than I could possibly eat, so a lot of it went home with me. It was good for dinner.

Its a dive filled with locals, but its cool and has character. We went in for a couple of drinks. Once the locals stop staring, its cool. They treated us well, and we had a goo time.

The new owners have Romero's recipes and the same high quality of dining experience. If you are visiting Kernville, try That's Italian in Kernville's little square. It's where the locals go.

Dined once and never returned even though I frequent the area. We treated our Dad to a Father's day lunch and he picked this restaurant. We waited almost 2 hours to be seated. Then it took over an hour to get our food, which we were never apologized for. Many of us received food that was cold, missing items requested, and underwhelming for the price. We had two young children who were miserable the entire time.
Would not recommend coming here on a holiday or for casual dining with children.
Unfortunately, they do have great drinks, bar, and the view from the outside looking onto the river is spectacular (the only reason why I gave 2 voting stars).

And we are also very proud to offer fantastic food, always fresh and house-made-to-order, with numerous options for those who are dairy-free, gluten-free, vegetarian and even vegan! Come and experience the best food, drink and service the Kern River Valley has to offer!
The Starlite opened to good reviews, and rightly so. It has and continues to grow in both variety of food and wine offerings, ambiance, and now includes even more live entertainment and fun themed evenings. Small plates are served, special items are offered most evenings, and the regular menu is even more sophisticated than before. It is a wonderful place to meet or make friends, share a light meal and enjoy well-selected wines. Highly recommended.

This has all the best Mexican food and you can sit or take it to go. Large plates at a great price. A family business for 3 generations.
