Take a quick ferry ride to Mount Sakurajima, a smoldering volcano, Or, if you prefer to view active volcanoes from a more comfortable distance, stop at one of the many lookout points around the city. (Siroyama Observatory is a good choice.) Finally, if there’s anything better than a foot bath after a long day of sightseeing, it’s a free foot bath after a long day of sightseeing… and you can enjoy one at Sakurajima Nagisa Foot Bath Park.

This restaurant is located in the basement floor of a pretty large building. It is easy to find. You will have to wait in line - I did, on a Thursday evening. The katsu is awesome, and although it's a bit more expensive than most katsu, they give you a lot. I couldn't finish the rice. The staff are very kind as well. Overall, a culinary experience that is hard to fault. You can't go wrong!

I visited here based on travel book's recommendation. I need to queue for a while for a table. I ordered the mango ice and it tasted good. But not very special as I can taste similar ice in HK!

We came here a couple of days ago. My wife is Japanese and she agreed that the ramen here was good. We had 3 types and all were delicious. I would definitely come back here again.

Chose this because although only Japanese reviews it had a 5* rating. The people were surprised to have English speakers visit and could not have been more welcoming. Smart phone translation was helpfully used by the team serving us. We sampled 6 dishes a la carte and all were tasty.
It's a short tram ride from the downtown area with a tram stop just across the junction. Bill was around £35 for 2.
As we were leaving the manager asked us to pose for a photo with him as a souvenir of his English guests! That tends to confirm its a locals place.

My wife and I got a chance to taste a legendary "Kurobuta Shabushabu" on the 3rd floor (tatami room) of Ajimori. The staffs were friendly, and the tatami room was quite relaxing. The Shabushabu was, of corse, delicious, but compared with other restaurants of the same kind it is relatively expensive. On the 1st floor there are various dishes other than Shabushabu.

I arrived at the restaurant at 11:15 and stood in a line. That opened at 11:30. I ate (A)上黒豚ロースカツ250 g set and (B)黒豚軟骨煮. I was satisfied with them very much.
(A)The finest black pig pork loin cutlet set. It takes around 20 minutes. Pork Loin 250 g, cabbage, lemon, pickles, miso soup, rice, mini-salad. The pork was perfect! Taste, texture, fragrance, quantity, color, the doneness. It was great!
(B)simmered pork and its cartilage. It was sweet and soft and good. Just little bit being seasoned heavily. But no problem.
The staffs are kind. They will be kind when you come in 5 or 6 persons and will take good care for you to take seat as a group.
I do not know the details of this restaurant, it seemed to have revived. Let's ask them about its history, the next time.

The shop is a little hard to find. Seemed to cater for Japanese speaking only, not foreign tourists. Eel was really good, crunchy and tender at the same time. Good flavor too. All in all a satisfying meal. This is an old famous shop in Kagoshima, worth a try.

After shopping at Tenmokan, we went to Ichiniisan at Amu Plaza (next to Kagoshima Chuo station), so that we could catch Shinkansen back to Hakata on time after dinner.
Like most of the restaurants in Japan, the waitress/waiter here are not familiar in English but they do try their very best to fulfill our needs. Nevertheless, they also provide English menu and you could make your order more easier.
Three of us ordered 2 sets of shabu shabu with kurobuta (pork), assorted veggie & soba, also a set of Kagoshima wagyu (beef) teppanyaki for share. Since the sliced pork was very thin, the waitress suggested us to boil it not more than 3 seconds, also took some yuzu wasabi sauce which really made the food delicious, we then loved the sauce so much. She also suggested us to boil the soba not more than 1 minute, otherwise, it would be too softened.
Finally, each of us bought a bottle of yuzu wasabi which costs 550yen, at the cashier counter upon settled our bill. Beware, the sauce must keep in the fridge and don't forget to take it back upon check-out.
