Located in the heart of the hill country, Lum's serves up vintage Texas smoked BBQ along with sinister sides and carefully prepared deserts. Our approach to barbecue is simple: lots of time and lots of wood. Our meat is dry rubbed with a select few spices and then slow cooked over mesquite wood. Lum's was co-founded in 1976 by father and son, Louis and Richard Lumbley. We strive to provide a comfortable and friendly dining experience executed with exquisite small town hospitality.
Certainly some of the best BBQ I’ve ever tasted.
Had the brisket, creamed corn, and coleslaw.
Brisket was delicious (some of the best I’ve had) and Creamed corn was tasty.
Coleslaw was also delicious, but I’m not convinced it was fresh.
Pecan pie was certainly not homemade - it was “eh”.

During the recent Oktoberfisch event in Junction, enjoyed "steak night" with a group of friends attending Texas' premier fly fishing event. It was an excellent choice. Salad, baked potato, and a 10-12 oz. ribeye which was very good. They also throw in a complimentary margarita...MoreWe appreciate all of the Oktoberfisch members and look forward to serving ya'll again in 2017.

A Texas Monthly top Texas Cafe
The restaurant is clean, the bathrooms are clean and the service was pleasant. Try the pie, coconut meringue or peach cobbler. This stretch of I 10 offers little in the way of dining, so don't try. Sonoro offers nothing good.

Traveling from So Cal to Florida in the summer of 2011 we stopped here. Had a great cheeseburger. Every bit as good as my beloved double-double. This time we stopped to find a very busy eatery around 1pm on a Friday. Food was quickly served. Excellent grilled chicken sandwich. Everything appeared clean in spite of the crowd. Service was excellent.

Traveling down I10 can mean food is few and far between and tried Plumley's as San Antonio was too far.....it was really quite good.
Menu choices are limited and consists mostly of sandwiches and oddities but the sandwiches we had were excellent.
I had a ham and cheese on some really good sourdough bread and my wife had a chicken salad that was very good (she said)....
If you're hungry and passing through, give this a try

La Familia Restaurant is located right on the main drag through Junction, Texas and I was really looking forward to some high quality, authentic Mexican food, but I was disappointed to get a enchilada dinner that taste more like school cafeteria quality food. Maybe it was just a bad night for the cook, but I wouldn't go back again.

On a recent drive to far west Texas stopped here for a fill up, both auto and belly. Though they serve a whopping sized breakfast, chose the hamburger. It was really good. Served on a choice of breads, I chose rye. The fries were tasty and crisp without that ever present cooking oil taste. It is a big place geared for truckers, they heartily welcome the non-truck driving crowd. Have passed it many times in the past, but now it is a required stop.

Stopped because of TA reviews......was not disappointed! Very friendly staff and fellow diners! Was not busy.....orders were a bit slow coming out! We both had catfish.....mine was a sandwich which was very good, served with skinny crisp fries and purple coleslaw. My husband ordered the catfish plate, served with the same sides plus hush puppies. The only drawback was the plate contained only 1 fillet.....a bit pricy for that!!

We were hungry after a long drive and found ourselves with few choices for supper. We found the best service and great burgers and homemade onion rings that we made a picnic supper of down by the Llano river.

Primary menu items are classic Tex-Mex, with a red chili base and vary from bean burritos to beef or chicken fajitas to carne guisada (and sometime on the special, shrimp enchiladas.) Suprisingly good fried catfish. Great homemade onion rings. Service is a little slow because the items for the most part are not pre-made. The atmosphere is more "I'm hungry" than cheerful. The staff is eager to please.
