We ate at Tienda San Jose on our trip to Juayua this week.
The restaurant is nice looking, lots of art and open Juliet balconies onto the street. There were two men seated at the bar drinking, and being quite loud, however, and disrupting our experience, as well as an unbelievably squeaky drawer where the money was kept that was opened and shut over and over again. To give you an idea, the noise literally sounded like cats fighting, and that's what I thought it was until my boyfriend pointed the drawer out.
The food was decent, but nothing amazing. I had the fish. It was a whole fish (red snapper) cooked the way it often is in El Salvador. The fish was okay, but a little bit pricey. It came with grilled veggies done with some sort of a curry sauce. They were pretty good. The rice was not good at all, it was coated in oil, and had little natural taste to it anymore. I hardly ate any of it.
My boyfriend ordered the chicken breast, which he seemed to enjoy. It came with veggies, tortillas, rice, and beans, as they were out of sausage and substituted the chicken breast for him.
We might eat here again, but we would probably look to explore other restaurants in the area before we did.

Chef Carlos Careres creates unique entrees combining talents learned while studying in Canada with his El Salvadoran background. We ate at his restaurant, as recommended in Frommer's guide, and it was the best meal we had bar none in El Salvador. The steaks were perfection as was the chicken. He is very creative and incorporates many of the local flavours - one of the steaks was prepared with a coffee rub (Juayua being a coffee growing town). Carlos speaks excellent English and is incredibly hospitable. Our whole meal was delicious and I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone traveling to Juayua. Also of note, it was one of the least expensive restaurants we visited while in El Salvador!
There are lots of reasons why R&R is the best restaurant in Juayua - tastefully decorated, it provides a lovely ambience for your amazing meal. I had the vegetarian lasagne which wasn't the exact traditional lasagne but every mouthful was divine. The kitchen also sent out a complimentary salad and a little Salvadorean chocolate at the end. Lots of meat options which are reportedly excellent. Not to be missed!

The venue as such is okay. Because there are limited good quality options to eat in the area you can say this place is like an oasis. If you haven't found a better place where to eat, yes, eat here... it's the safest choice around. Food is expensive, drinks are cheap. Not much I can add of this place.

I visited twice during my three day visit to Juayua ... and probably would have gone more, but it wasn't open the first two days I was in town. Very pleasant courtyard place with an interesting menu that features their own beers, tasty mojitos, and terrific pizza ... offered with their impressive assortment of their own hot sauces. Only drawback was a loud game being played with loud jenga blocks which detracted from the atmosphere.

Absolutely worth it! We keep coming back. The garden is truly beautiful and the food delicious; selfmade and very creative. You won't find a better pizza in whole El Salvador! The owners and the staff are really nice and helpful. We recommend everyone to go visit and eat here.

Then this is the business - if it isn't then my apologies.
Each evening I'd go out and reserve my baguettes for the following evening. If I forgot to pick it up, they'd send a boy round with them...$1.50 for the best bread in Centro America no question
