My husband and I stopped in to have a beer and pizza and watch the America's Cup with friends. Great atmosphere on the water of course. Good pizza. We had the veggie pizza and the veggies were fresh and tasty. We requested no black olives but our pizza came with them anyway. The food does not come out quickly but that's a good thing because it's all made to order. I'm looking forward to our next visit.

The service as great , the timely Delivery of meal was an excellent surprise not to say the finger licking experience of the cultural delicacy of the Garifuna culture that you cannot find any place else.
Looking down toward the Barrique as a plus as well as the passsers by. I enjoyed every moment of the Tropical breezes as we sat with our fresh cold coconut water looking down towards the carribean Sea.
What a treat as well as a special surprise. away from the middle of the hustle of town.
the location of Cafe Gotay allows fot the oppurtunity to get to see the =community of La Buga Livingston that you would other wise not see.
must see , must go must eat.
Restaurante Gotay VISTA DEL RIO
A MUST VISIT ALSO VISITED BY MANY DIGNITARIES DIFFERENT THAN THE CAFE LOCATED IN MELINDA BY THE SAME OWNERS.

My wife, friends, and I went to Rosita's two nights ago, and I could not have been more pleased. The service was spot on, the food was magnificent, and the ambiance--on the shores of Rio Dulce was enchanting. The restaurant is a bit out of the way, a pleasant walk on a boardwalk over lowlands, but it was worth every step. The man whom I assumed was the owner came to our table twice to make sure our evening was all we wanted. The wait-staff was polite and efficient. Even the chef cam to our table to make sure all was right. I had the conch with garlic, and it was a huge portion. The prices were very fair for the food we received. If you are in the Rio Dulce area, do not this miss this amazing dining experience.

This is a nice Guatemalan-owned restaurant. Most of what they serve they make or source locally. Security is on-site for parking. If you go on a weekend, make time for this as you could be there for a couple of hours or longer...enjoy the slow pace! Lots of families here on the weekend. The fried fish is awesome and you can't beat their Pina Coladas, which are made with freshly ground coconut (everyday). Whoever said the comment about steak...this part of Guatemala is not known for their beef...anywhere. So if you're a beef eater wait until you return to your country or Guate City.

Me abastecí de gasolina e hice uso del baño. Muy limpio y conveniente. Su tienda de 24 horas llenó mis expectativas y necesidades en mi viaje a El Petén. TODO A MANO. Recomendable...gasolina de primera y de buena marca.

Livingston is in Guatemala, but it is not Guatemala -- it is the isolated town on the Carib coast that is home to a Garifuna population (often called Black Caribs). The signature Garifuna dish is Tapado. A seafood stew in a coconut milk sauce. Almost every place in town serves a Tapado. But Tiburon Gato is perhaps the best in town.
We stopped by late in the morning to this open air restaurant on the town's main street to put in our order -- it is made fresh and takes about 45 minutes to make properly.
When we arrived back we were treated to huge earthen ware bowls containing mangrove snapper, whole blue crabs, shelled shrimp and squid, mollusks and sweet plantains. It is messy to eat ... but wonderful. The cost was about $US7 per bowl (big enough for two). In the States the seafood alone would cost over $US25.
Usually when you try something a second time it is not as good as the first. Our second Tapado, however, was even better.
Service is very friendly and relaxed. Sit enjoy your Tapado and watch the town pass by.

Best on the water dining in the entire Rio Dulce. Panoramic views with wonderful food served quickly in an elegant ambiance. Mojitos and Pina Coladas, other drinks made from scratch. Belgian waffles, crepes, filet mignon, asian inspired salads, Cuban sandwiches, spicy seafood, coconut tomato soup, homemade pizza and bread, homemade ice cream. Open from 7:00 am to 8:00 pm.
We arrived quite late due to a long bus ride from Antigua. The restaurant was open but for pizza only. We were hungry and the pizza was fresh but nothing special. The beer was cold. Breakfast was good as was the next night's dinner.

this was a pit stop for us on our bus tour for a quick lunch. Food was of the type that you pointed to what you want in the premade bain maries and they scooped up portions onto a plate and you moved down the line pointing at what you wanted until you reached the checkout and paid for what you had selected and for drinks.
the variety of food was not Western takeaway but Guatemalan - ranging from roast chichen pieces, casserole, beef, black beans and rice, hot mixed vegetables and cold mixed vege salad. a hearty selection and filling. the establishment had tables and chairs for you to dine at. quick in and out place to eat. no atmosphere that would attract you to linger over your meal.
cost cheap and filling.
