The restaurant is located near Ise Grand Shrine (Naiku), along the sacred Isuzu river that flows through the Shrine. Their food is good - they have a wide variety of tofu cuisine. The atmosphere is very nice. Crowded especially on weekends.

Butaste, located in Okage Yokocho, enjoys a good reputation among TA travelers, and this is why my wife and I went there. As it was during the new year's holiday, we had to write down the name and to wait about one hour to eat Gyudon. (If you take Sukiyaki, you can skip the line, because it is served in a different dining room.) Gyudon, made of Ise beef, was delicious, although it was a little bit salty. It is worth waiting a line.

Unusual thick noodles with black soy-based sauce witch was served in the past for pilgrims. Classic style “ISE-UDON” is recommended.

We tried the kids size tofu soft serve which was made of 55% tofu and soy milk. Very smooth and didn't have that strong soy taste. I liked the soy donuts with soybean flour. Mildly sweet with crunchy skin and soft interior. Nice in between snack if u r sick of overly sweet everything else.

むっちり伊勢うどんをいただきに奥野屋さんへ。なかなか現代風のおしゃれな店内で伝統の味。さっくり食べようとおもったけど、結構時間かかるんだね。おいしかったです。

A bright and switched-on foreigner-friendly restaurant easily located near Ise's Ujiyamada rail station. Plenty of satisfying set meal and à la carte options, including sophisticated bento boxes, tempura, sushi and local lobster. Prices perhaps a little on the high side.

On the way back feom the ISE shrine, in the busy commercial street right by the eiver, sushikyu is crowded, we had to wait 10 minutes to be seated, on the floor(tatami) on the most traditional japanese way. Try the Isejji-zen a mix of local specialties; vey nice fresh tuna by the way! No occidental on the premises. The place is full and the experience is awsome!
