They offer a monthly special, at a fair price. Menu is pretty average, mid priced. Nothing memorable. Atmosphere is very so, so. Unless your into wore out, and well used. Service is spotty, because they refuse to hire enough people to give quality service. Avoid the rush, eat early or late....................or prepare to WAIT! A very long wait!

Frankly, some DQ franchises can be off in food preparation, cleanliness, service, or ambience. This is consistently one of the good ones. We've tried all the places to eat in Hinckley. DQ is the only one we come back to.
Mind you, Hinckley can be nutzoid busy on some days. Take that into account.

Unless you have a lot of time, don't stop. Our waitress was pleasant but didn't tell us about the specials and it took *forever* to get our food. The food was good, but not worth the wait.
The 60ish woman at the register was a pill, slow, and so incredibly rude. We won't return just because of her.

Another thing gone at the Grand Casino in Hinckley. The cozy coffee shop replaced by Sweet Spot in the Grand Provision area. Cold and industrial seating in a big open area. No "real" cream, just the creamers that have been sitting out all day. And no napkins by the silverware! The free coffee tasted better.

The Traveler’s Tradition Since 1948 and………. Minnesota’s Famous Halfway Stop! At Tobies we prepare our foods to be thoroughly enjoyed: fresh baked pies, breads and rolls, hearty homemade soups, choice lean meats, popular seafoods, delicate sauces and gravies, savory seasonings and condiments. We take pride in the culinary art. Our widespread reputation and never ending list of friends confirm the fact that there is no substitution for good food. We welcome you to the famous Halfway meeting place and consider it our pleasure to serve you. We invite you to relax before dinner with your favorite beverage from our fine selection of cocktails, beers, wines or Catawba juices.
Tobies has turned more into a tourist trap. Food is about equal to Perkins. Most people come here for the bakery. The people behind the counter lack customer services skills my wife and I waited about 8 minutes while the people behind the counter were talking. Then they looked like we were bugging them by wanting them to actually work. Service back in the day was much better. Bakery items were above average, not worth the hassle of bad customer service.

This is a locally owned and operated family restaurant which means you get excellent friendly service by people who live and die by the success of your visit. You can't beat their service! I love their burgers and fries! Their Pizza is also very good! Give them a try if you haven't, they deliver locally and frequently have deals online you can search for.

We came for the seafood buffet and left disappointed. After waiting nearly 2 hours, the food selection was minimal with cold crab legs being served. I will go into more detail below.
Employees
The hostess and waitress were great and friendly, but that’s were the pleasantries ended. The actual staff in the buffet were rude and seemed very dissatisfied with their jobs. I had one person scoff at me because I asked if they could refill the butter and provide more crab leg crackers.
Food
Food was served barely warm. The crab legs were actually cold. Selection was minimal. I have seen much better executed casino buffets. I couldn’t even find buffet staples like mashed potatoes and Mac and cheese.
Overall
Although the facilities were quite clean. Save your money and go to McDonald’s. The food quality and service will be better there. I would not recommend this buffet.

We sat here and listened to the live band. The poor bar staff was overwhelmed with the number of people on a Saturday night. There was long lines at the bar, and since the casino started serving free drinks in some areas, the alcohol content has gone down in their drinks. Regardless we had a very good time.

Casual Dining. Serving Breakfast (all day), Lunch and Dinner. Great Home Cooking, like Turkey dinners,Hot Beef Sandwiches and Chicken Wraps,Burgers, Great Omelets and great Pies for dessert.
I'd never been to the Whistle Stop Cafe in Hinckley before despite living just a few blocks away from it, so a friend and I decided to give it a try this last Saturday morning. The place was good and full, which is a good sign. We walked in, sat ourselves at the last available table. The counter was also completely free as well, which is a nice touch, I do like counter seating when I want quicker service. We sat and were quickly greated and given menus and coffee and flavored creamer which I love! The coffee was good too, not some nasty bitter crap like a lot of places offer you. This was quality coffee from a clean coffeemaker. There seemed to be only one watress and one cook working but they seemed to keep up just fine. The service was good, maybe a little slower than normal but they did have every table full so that slows ya down for sure. We had plenty of time to drink coffee and chat before our food came out, but not too much. When the food came out it was hot and tasted great! Not the best breakfast I've ever had but it was very good. I had sunny side up eggs which were made about perfect, bacon, which was nice and thick and good perfectly, wheat toast which had lots of yummy butter on it, and buttermilk blueberry pancakes which were very good with lots of berries and quite large but not huge! I'd say they are better than Amy's Cafe in Sandstone but not as good as Toby's in Hinckley. My friend has eggs and hasbrowns with gravy on top, it looked amazing and he said it was very good too. He said the prices were a little higher maybe than Amy's but the serving size was a little smaller, I agree with that.
They have a lot of freshly made pies and things as well that I look forward to trying. For now I'm going to give them 5 stars for lack of any negatives but I will review again next time I go in and try something new. I didn't see anything that really jumped out at me as impressive or like a signature dish, I'd like to see that...
