The Belarussian Baker is located in Asbury House, an 1880 Italianate Victorian mansion that has been restored. Three separate dining rooms each seat 16-20 persons.
Interesting stop. Very old Victorian home ..1880s. Lovely dining room...table clothes and linen napkins. UNIQUE menu..atheistic Russian selections. Family run...wife from Russia. We all enjoyed our meals. Lunch $7-12 Do not pass this one up....

We were looking forward to a unique dining experience as we had heard the advertisements on our local NPR station and looked at the website. It showed a quaint setting in the country and the menu looked promising. Things like macadamia nut encrusted salmon with coconut rice and green curry, with mango salsa....well the salmon was over cooked and the skin was left on the bottom and soggy, not crisped up, it had a few macadamia nuts thrown on top and the curry was undetectable, then the mango salsa was made from slimy defrosted frozen mangoes. But the food wasn't the biggest disappointment. The place is filthy. Cobwebs hanging above, the sink in the bathroom was just gross and to top it off...mouse droppings on the counter and stool lid! When we left we saw the chef, Katie Crutchfield outside and her apron was disgusting. Overall, we were very disappointed and more than a little grossed out.

First, this is a fun place to visit and just walk around the shop and entrance. Second, we haven't even tried the beers or other drinks...yet. Third, the BBQ is excellent - great taste and very moist. Fourth, the deserts ARE TO DIE FOR! Fifth and last, our waiter built a desert for my wife who is Gluten Free...he won us over with how accommodating and friendly he and the rest of the staff are...WOW

In a small shop on Main Street in the town of Blackwater, MO, you will find the central gathering place for town residents in tourists, drinking coffee and eating homemade pie. The center of attention is Imogene, a 92-year-old bundel of energy, who bakes 12-15 pies every weekend for her guests while filling her small shop with laughter and stories. Traditional favorites -- apple, cherry, peach, lemon meringue, coconut custard -- join with creative newcomers to provide a full menu of delicious pies. Add a large scoop of vanilla ice cream for a delicious afternoon treat. Allow time to chat with Imogena and browse her collection of handmade aprons, bags and bedspreads. Pies are only sold a piece at a time because she wants to get to know her customers. Open year round with plenty of table space, but crowded during the concert season at Arrow Rock, a small adjoining town. Drop into Blackwater on your trip on I-70 for a memorable experience.

We love this family-owned restaurant! The food is great and very reasonably priced. 5hey have recently relocated to the main street through Higginsville, giving them a bright new look and more seating. There is a daily special. We especially lovethe hot roast beef sandwiches and the chicken strips, although we've not found anything on the menu that we didn't like. Delicious desserts, too!

When you are getting gas at the Higginsville exit on I-70 and you want something besides fast food, drive about 3 or 4 miles north to the edge of Higginsville. This Mexican restaurant won't disappoint!! The service is friendly and prompt. They have lunch and dinner specials every day. They have a full bar so you can get that marguarita! Everything we have ordered has been very good.

Great authentic Mexican food: chips were warm, the seasoning was flavorful and not extremely chemically hot (pico). My wife and I moved back into the area from New Mexico so we are familiar with border type food, and she found her taco salad very delicious - her personal preference is to have a little guacamole with it since that is what she is used to. I had the "La Favorita" : one chicken burrito, one chicken enchilada topped with red sauce, lettuce, sour cream, and tomatoes. It was delicious enough to just savour slowly. Service was quick and friendly, and the prices are reasonable. We are going back because it has topped any Mexican restaurant in the surrounding area.

Very basic food. Located as an offshoot of an auto repair shop. They seem to have a lot of young people working there and I get the feeling they turnover a lot so that may make the quality of the food inconsistent. Basic diner cuisine. Friendly atmosphere. An interesting small town place. I would go back. Did have trouble with overcooked vegetables once.

Ribs and More has some of the best BBQ I've EVER eaten. It's a dinky little carryout place but the folks running the joint have got the program DOWN!
I'm partial to the BBQ chicken -- I've also tried the ribs. It's ALL good.
I'd put the grub that Ribs and More puts out up against ANY BBQ in the area. I ain't kiddin'.
