The service was excellent
Fatima the waitress never fails to be brilliant with the customers
She looked after us so well and so friendly
Chicken dish was really good
Thank you Fatima once again !

Reviewed By Uniconst - Weybridge, United Kingdom

We arrived early on the off chance that we could get a table without booking first and they kindly obliged us. The restaurant is spacious and elegant, the tables a reasonable size. The menu is interesting and not too long and there were several delicious sounding specials, all of which were far more expensive than any menu items(can’t imagine why!!) but you don’t get to know this until the bill arrives, so beware! The service was faultless - not overly attentive but we never felt like we’d been kept waiting for anything. The wine list is ok and I’d say mid-priced so don’t come here if you’re on a budget - Pouilly Fume £38 and Barolo £47 both of which were excellent.
We had a selection of delicious starters but now we come to the bad bit - both my friend and I wanted the calves liver but the idiot maitre-d informed us that it is illegal to serve under-cooked offal so we could only have it medium or well done! I mean seriously??? What a twit! My friend opted for lobster linguine which was by all accounts fab and I had a T-bone in some nice sounding sauce, ordered rare because again he couldn't do it blue by law, which arrived, needless-to-say, over cooked and with so much salt in the sauce that I left half of it. The accompanying side order of fried zucchini’s were surprisingly under cooked given the restaurants obsession with over cooked food lol. The cheese board was a few measly thin slices of a Dutch hard cheese, Camembert and Gorgonzola (Hooray for an Italian cheese in an Italian restaurant!) so not great. £365 for the four of us although that did include four large gins @£12 ea. Overall, really quite average food, apart from the brilliant pasta, at a premium, served up with a healthy dose of misinformation!!! Not recommended - wish I’d gone to Loch Fyne up the road.

Zizzi - Henley

At Zizzi we like to do things a little differently. We don’t do over-complicated recipes or scrimpy portion sizes. We’re all about the well-chosen ingredients, simply put together to make exceptional Italian food.Home of the Regatta, an event that attract thousands of people, and smack dab in the middle of all that action is our Henley restaurant. Our restaurant is an old coach house dating back to the 17th Century, a perfect place to hold private parties, with 3 separate rooms including a bar on the first floor and outside Seating space during spring and summer. It has a warm and relaxing atmosphere and is close to all shops and amenities as well as being a short walk to the river. Dine al fresco with an outdoor dining area for sunny weather. And if you’re celebrating something special, see if our private dining area is right for you.

Tried Zizzi for an early evening meal and found it quite nice. I had a lovely spicy pizza, started with butterfly king prawns and ended with ice cream. All of my meal was well presented, the starter and main cooked to perfection. Service was good and the restaurant is clean, tidy and well laid out. Will definitely be back.

The Three Tuns

Opened by Mark and Sandra Duggan in May 2011 what once was a run down and unloved pub has now become a charming and popular drinking and dining spot for locals and visitors alike. The front bar is charming with wood panelled walls and old brewery photos of a bygone era and has a roaring open fire during the winter months. The intimate dining room is classic and cosy and the newly refurbished Terrace offers the perfect spot for outdoor dining with rattan furniture and large parasols in a tranquil setting. There is also the Stable Bar at the rear of the property which offers a private dining space for up to 32 people. The food itself is all freshly prepared by chef Mark and his team and offers the best of pub classics along with more modern dishes using seasonal and where possible local produce. That teamed with friendly, informative and efficient service has got The Three Tuns recommended in the 2013 Michelin Guide. The Tuns certainly has something to offer everyone...

The Greyhound Free House & Grill

Antony & Jay Worrall Thompson describe The Greyhound, their restaurant and freehouse in Rotherfield Peppard near Henley on Thames, as their ‘perfect local’. Seasonal food is key and Antony goes out of his way to support local producers. Described as AWTs ‘playground’, The Greyhound is not only known for its succulent Steaks and Burgers but also home to a vast amount of other dishes inspired by countries from all around the world. Take a step inside and be greeted with a warm welcome from Jay’s attentive front of house team and the quirky interior of the Barn and Parlour.

Reviewed By SB01 - Sonning Common, Berks

We visited the Greyhound for a friend's birthday. It was a perfect an experience as you can enjoy. On a snowy night, the candlelit interiors and old world decor created an almost Dickensian ambience, full of the sounds of people enjoying themselves. But the food is anything but old fashioned. The main menu and daily selection are full of creativity. I started with trio of mushrooms, that included a lovely light soup and crunchy arancini. The haggis cake and trio of crab also received rave reviews. Mains included great pies, burgers, a selection of fish, a top drawer nut roast and superb iberico pork. There was a good selection of desserts, mainly calorific but with a few sorbets as well. All of the food was beautifully presented, piping hot and very efficiently by the front of house team. AWT himself was a visible presence through the evening, which cannot always be said of celebrity chefs.
We last visited a couple of years ago when the vibe was very much of it being a grill. But it has gone up a notch or two now and for me rivalled the foodie pub buzz that the Hand and Flowers creates.

With a large car park, a reputation for great service, food and ambience, this pub is the busiest in the area and deservedly is on most itineraries of anyone visiting Henley on Thames. From the outside, it looks a quaint little pub but enter its hallowed doorway and you will find the most unique, beautifully designed space, with space being a key word. My husband booked this restaurant because we live locally and I saw the chefs on Saturday Kitchen. We are both foodies and travel all over the world and eat in too restaurants with our work. The food was faultless however the tables and the cutlery and the wall paintings were no match for the cuisine; they let the beautiful food down. Overall the atmosphere was good but it didn’t seem very sophisticated or thought through.

The Baskerville

Oxfordshire Restaurant of the Year 2016. The Baskerville Lower Shiplake remains a traditional village inn with a 'proper' bar, a delightful restaurant, four star accommodation, a beautiful garden and ambitions beyond its AA rosette. With Kevin Hannah and head chef Jamie Herridge at the helm, its outstanding customer service is matched only by its creative, seasonally changing menus. Fresh, ethically and locally sourced produce lie at the heart of its modern but classically based dishes which offer a memorable experience.

24th February 2018 - Lunch for 5. Nice menu - not too long so everything is freshly cooked. Fishcake with quail's egg starter was mouthwateringly good. 2 medium rare and 1 rare fillet steak - all cooked perfectly and very tasty I'm told (my kids had them - expensive tastes!) - and they are experts on steaks...unfortunately for me! My fish and chips was delicious, and my wife's duck was one of the best she had ever had. As another reviewer has commented the triple cooked chips are gorgeous. Proper creme brulee pud (as in crusty top - not one of those ghastly wobbly offerings you sometimes get). Warm and cosy pub; comfortable seating; quite a few tables, but all nicely spaced. Very friendly and professional service. We all really loved this place (and we have ages ranging from 20 to 63 - it suited us all). Highly recommended.
