I come to Henderson each year for two reasons... The annual Sandy Lee Songwriters Festival, and to eat at Commonwealth (and not necessarily in that order!). You won't find better food, nicer folks or better atmosphere anywhere! If you live within 90 minutes of Henderson, it is easily worth the drive. In my opinion, the only place in the world where you will actually enjoy eating Brussel Sprouts!

We decided to catch lunch at Planters - under new ownership - and we really were not all that impressed. First of all the chicken salad for which Planters is known, was a little dry; second, the prices. A half chicken salad sandwich, a very small bag of chips, a whole chicken salad sandwich and a small cup of soup ran nearly $15.00. And we drank water! To top it off, the few tables they had downstairs were "rickety" and the staff seemed new to the business. All in all, we probably will not be returning any time soon.

There really isn't much more to be said...I've never had a bite from this bakery that I didn't enjoy. In December I purchased my nephews birthday cake here, it was by miles the best bakery style cake I've had in years. I'm an avid fan if their fondant glazed cookies, though the last time they did seem a bit different. Again with their wedding cookies, the best I've had in years. Their cream horns are delicious but be prepared to lean over a table or napkins because the powdered sugar is messy!! We love Golden Glaze, and will go out if our way to purchase their products from their friendly staff. Thanks for a great local bakery!

They have the absolute best BBQ beans you could ever eat, smoked Turkey and BBQ pork are great as well. Everyone that works there is always very nice. If you go, they don't accept credit/debit cards.

We eat here for lunch about once a week. The chicken is my favorite- very tender and smoky taste. The ribs and pork are also excellent. An off menu item is the BBQ nachos which are a great combination of the slaw, pork and chips - but it is huge! The Cole slaw has garlic and is so unique- I always get it as one of my sides. The potato salad has a delicious taste - probably the best in town. The portions are large. The service is always friendly and prompt. The restaurant is small but the tables turn over quickly. If you like BBQ don't miss this place!

While passing thru, we opted to stop. Here the decor is cross between Chili's and Beef O' Brady's. The main attraction is both the pizza and wings, your choice, we chose the pizza. The pizza sauce was unique in that it was more 'pulpy' than most others, which tend to be smoother. However, neither of us could put our finger on what was different and better than any other. In short the service was good, as to the the brews...there's some 11 or so on tap, 14 or so domestic and another 13 or so 'craft' beers. All in all a great place. I'd stop by again, say, why don't you come on in?

Was in town for business and was in the mood for Mexican. Found this place and OH MY! What a GEM! Awesome food. Unbelievably low prices, excellent service and outstanding food. I don't remember what the combo meal was called that I ordered, but it included a taco, a tostada, Enchilada, Tamale, Rice and Beans. Needless to say I ended up taking more than HALF of this meal home.....all for $15.....including A COUPLE BEERS! A definite Must Try!

We ordered the Prime Rib special. It is was very good. The service was quick and the portion reasonable. In fact, even though the portion for the special was the smaller cut, my husband and I shared the meal and were satisfied. It came with a large baked potato and a large serving a green beans. We would dine here again.

My family and I were taken here by a friend. This was our first visit. I had the Country Fried steak. Absolutely delicious. The soup was great. A great atmosphere with excellent service. Prices were very reasonable. We will definitely visit here again the next time we are in the area.

Lombardi's is about pizza ...thin crust New york style pizza. Sure, there are other menu items, but for my wife and me, it's about the pizza.
Not long after Lombardi's opened, we spent time chatting with the owner, Frank, about his time in NYC (firefighter, and yes, he was there on 9/11), and his approach to pizza. He can talk of the science (gluten content of flour, makeup of the cheese, preferred tomato type, oven temperature), as well as the art of making pizza. Note, these pizzas are cooked in a genuine pizza oven, not placed on a conveyor belt and run through a glorified toaster.
The place is small. There is no alcohol. Atmosphere is about zero. But, that's not what has us driving from Newburgh, IN, across the river, to Henderson....it's the pizza.... hot, thin crust, generous volume of toppings, with shakers of cheese, crushed red peppers, garlic salt, and oregano available to use as your taste buds command. Prices are quite reasonable, in view of the quality of the product.
If this is the style of pizza that reaches out to you, head to Lombardi's. Your taste buds are in for a treat!!
