Helen, a Bavarian Alps replica town in Appalachian Georgia, is home to an Oktoberfest for the ages, overflowing with two-liter beer glasses and Germany's famous bratwursts. To recover from the festivities, the savviest make their way to Cedar Creek Luxury Cabins on the edge of the Chattahoochee National Forest.

We are a small family friendly "specialty coffee" shop. Quality coffee, espresso, teas, and smoothies are always served. We offer a variety of bakery items, some coffee focused items, and fresh roasted coffee for purchase. Customer focus and caring for everyone is our goal...Every customer...Every time.
While walking by on a weekend afternoon I saw two people coming out of this shop with iced coffees. I am not an afternoon coffee drinker but the drinks looked great. I went in and had a nice conversation with the baristas. I ended up ordering a sugar free latte which was fantastic. I love sugar free and often have difficulty finding options. The flavoring options and choices were clear on the menu board. It was a bit pricy for the size but well worth every penny. The latte was honestly one of the best I have ever had. Perfection in Helen.

Homemade fudge and candy
We tried the dark chocolate fudge and it was delicious. Friendly staff. Better than Hansel and Gretel's fudge.

Fine Thai dining and Sushi Bar in the heart of Charming Helen GA
Slightly away from Main Street this hidden gem offers sushi and Thai food. We enjoyed appetizers and the Thai portion of the menu. They even offer small plates for sampling. Pad Thai was a little heavy on the fish sauce. Ask for less if you are sensitive. The shrimp and scallops with curry was delicious. The server was efficient and courteous. A very nice experience.

A small shop with a good variety of packaged coffees. Also has a couple of blends ready to drink. The Southern pecan roast brings an understated pecan taste which does not overwhelm the coffee. It can be enjoyed on the covered porch overlooking the Chattahoochee river.
The staff is always friendly and has a sense of humor. Conspicuously posted is a sign on which reads "unattended children will be given caffeine and a free puppy". Sit in the rocking chairs on the front porch and watch the cars go by and get a picture petting the goat before you leave.

An extra nice experience. This is no ordinary putt putt course. I would live there if I could. The grounds are meticulously manicured and decorated. Play a round of mini golf while enjoying the amazing foliage with plants and trees you might never see anywhere else. Then stop for an ice cream cone and watch the golfers from the elevated walkway. So Nice!

This great restaurant is in conjunction to a great little gift shop called The Village Peddler. You can eat in or out in a charming courtyard or on the porch. Wait staff are very friendly as the food is down home good! We are a retired couple but love to bring our children and grandchildren as well as friends. Very relaxing and price is very moderate!!
While in Helen, GA, a quaint tourist town with Alpine trappings, I happened upon a restaurant called The Meeting Place, toward the end of the main road.
When I got home, I went to TripAdvisor reviews and was disturbed by one which described the military and Christian decorations. The people identified themselves in their review as "gay", and said they left because they didn't think they would be welcome there.
I reject bigotry; I doubt if these people were wearing tags saying "I'm gay", but if they had, there are several Christian denominations that not only accept homosexuals, but also ordain gay clergy. For these people to pre-judge the people who worked there or the owners of this restaurant is just wrong!
I , too, saw some Christian items-a cross, a welcoming prayer plaque, and a couple other things, but I can appreciate someone who is not ashamed of their faith.
I saw a flag and some military service mementos. I, for one, do not condemn people who serve their country, nor those who display the flag. It is the symbol of the country that gave these people their freedoms. I also saw many other decorations and wall hangings, so there was a mix of visuals.
What I do detest is someone who seeks to do harm to others; who attempts to incite others to hate people they've never met. The reviewers, in my mind, were the ones who are clearly prejudiced, not the people at the Meeting Place
It's too bad for them; I'm 69 years old, and I can truly say that The Meeting Place had the best biscuits I have ever tasted!

The ONLY reason I gave two stars is because the funnel cakes were good. The "customer service" was shockingly terrible. The girl running the register had one of the worst attitudes I've ever encountered in a public establishment AND when she took the trash out she didn't wash her hands, gross. If I hadn't already paid I would've walked out and gone across the street. Definitely wouldn't go back. I felt so bad for the family checking out in front of me, yes they were a large party but the way she was speaking to them made me so uncomfortable.

I lived in Germany for >10 years, so I have had my fair share of German food. I had the Rouladen and it was fairly tasty. However the spaetzle was just not consistent with what I have ever had in Germany, almost tasted prepackaged and...MoreWe have many German customers who love our food and comment on it's authenticity. Sorry you weren't totally impressed. Also, we make everything fresh everyday and NOTHING is prepackaged at Hofer's!

Food: outstanding! Our table ordered a burger, pizza, wings, pasta and fish. All of it was outstanding. The portion sizes were way oversized. Most items could have fed two people. The pasta was a nice surprise. Generally pasta at a place that sells “bar food” is pretty bland. It was fantastic!
Service: good. Our server wasn’t friendly, but he wasn’t rude either. He was efficient. He often handed us items or expected us to hand him items, which is poor service in my opinion, but that’s a personal peeve of mine. Overall, can’t really complain about the service.
Environment: music playing and lots of TV’s. It’s a very lively.
