My wife and I traveled to Alkmaar and had dinner in a lovely Scottish restaurant with a huge selection of whisky. We both decided to have the "surprise" three course meal with whisky accompaniment. What a great choice! We started with a terrine and a whisky made for the twenty fifth anniversary of The Hielander and it was the best of the three. For our main course we had beef from a highlander cow and Haggis. The beef was delicious and so was the Haggis. They make their own Haggis at the restaurant and it was great! The dessert was a mixture of berries, oatmeal and cream. What an incredible meal and I believe it was the owners, husband and wife, that served us and they were awesome. He explained each whisky and the meals perfectly and enhanced our visit. The ambience was lovely. They really created a lovely Scottish pub in North Holland. If you find yourselves in Alkmaar, like we did, you will have a spectacular meal and a wonderful time at The Hielander.

Restaurant 'D Oude Clipper' is located in the heart of Egmond aan Zee, with Arno & Elly Duijf as owners since June 2005. D 'Oude Clipper is a warm and atmospheric restaurant with a maritime feel and a self-evident hospitality, making you feel right at home. The restaurant accommodates about 96 guests. A delicious aperitif can be drunk at the bar, or in our Clipper, where you feel like a captain on the ship. We also offer our restaurant for weddings, parties and buffets. Please contact us for thepossibilities. Our restaurant is French oriented with some Mediterranean influences. Our dishes are prepared traditionally and with great care . Did you know that we have a homarium with fresh lobster and oysters every day. Our wine list is very varied, several wine countries are represented.
Ever dined in a boat that is inside a restaurant? Here you can! Wonderful athmosphere and amazing food! Very recommendable!Thank you very much for your recommendation for our restaurant. It's nice to read that you like our athmosphere and food. Hope we see you again in d'Oude Clipper. Elly Duijf and Clipper team

A nice, small, friendly family-owned restaurant with lovely outside Seating for warm evenings like tonight. Unique beer and wine selections. Each individual dish is prepared with a great deal of care, the presentation is among the best I've seen, and the final product is absolutely the best you'll encounter in a long time. If you are in the area, you have to stop by - you will not regret it.

We had a nice dinner in this restaurant, which belongs to Fletcher Hotel Heiloo. Tables are a bit low, so watch out for your knees. Food was good.

It is more a kind of classic restaurant with classic dishes of a very good quality. We went here to celibrate a work anniversary. We were with 6 and all enjoyed the venue and the service.
They have a realy good choise of starters and main dishes, both for meat and fish eaters (I did not check the vegatarian dishes). Also a good selection of wines.

I can advise this place for its warm ambiance. The food was disappointing for being the number 1 place in Alkmaar. They certainly pay a lot of attention to the visual aspect of the dishes, but the taste combinations are somewhat questionable. Nice wine houses Luigi Bosca, Newton Johnson, ... on the wine list, but the lower quality ranges. The waiter beliefs to give a professional explanation. I expected more...

It's easy. You walk up to the counter and you order fries. You can order from a selection of toppings, such as mayonaise (hey, it's Dutch!) and you get what you need: perfectly cooked, golden brown fries, the way they should be.
This is by far the best place in the area to get the fries. No Seating, no fancy restaurant, just a paper bag with fries in them. What more could you want?

We were a party of 4 and were directed to a table with a wonderful view to the West - dinner at sunset. There was a somewhat loud party at another table nearby and we understood they were celebrating results of their golfing game - no surprise as the restaurant setting is on a glof course.
Two of us took the set 3-course menu which is reasonably priced at €27.50. I'm happy to say the price did not result in a substandard presentation or the use of lesser ingredients. Top marks on a very nice combination of dishes!
The remaining two had the entrecote and the haddock which were both excellent. The house wines were very good and reasonably priced. Service, as usual, was very friendly and efficient. The bill, including coffee and tea was reasonable, if certainly not cheap.
