The meal and service were really good. Not too expensive. You can get a reasonable meal at a very reasonable price, or pay a bit more for something more elaborate. On one visit here though, the fish was overcooked and the vegetables were almost inedible, To be fair they didn't charge us for that meal, Hopefully you will go there on the right night! Recommended.

Took my Miss 6 and Miss 4 for dinner and found the experience thoroughly satisfying. The kids meals were just right and at a good price. The adult main was a well cooked medium rare steak with prawn swizzler, scallops and a squid ring.

Enjoy award winning Gelato made daily on site! We offer fresh baked bread,German specialities like meatloaf or the faamous Bratwurst (sausage), Belgium waffles and pancakes and of course Italian coffee. In winter we have two home made soups on the menu and our ice cream sundaes are not to be missed. And best of all, everything at The Gelato Caffe is very competitivly prizes and served with a smile. Annett and Holger Zabel, owner and operator, would like to welcome you and make your visit an enjoyable one.
Needed a shot of coffee on a very cold day, but so did everyone else. Little bit of a wait while two groups went first, but the wait was worth it! Coffee was hot and strong, and my carrot cake was big, soft and the...MoreGood morning Kiwalan, thanks for the encouraging review, we can't ask for much more...:-)

A friend and I called in here for lunch. I was very disappointed with the 3 sliders I ordered. The fish one was very dry and I couldn't find the aioli sauce that was meant to be on it. The pork one had a piece...MoreHi Sandra, I am very sorry that you were not happy with your sliders and we will take this review into consideration and improve on our sliders.

From the moment you open the front door the greetings start and they've never met you before. Lite banter and country greetings made the welcome warm. Atmosphere was brilliant, drinks, service and the quality of food made the experience so good I went back the second night so sorry to other eating houses but Rough Habits is the type of dining that you leave once you've been though the menu so more visits planned.

Eggs benedict with salmon was perfect in quality, prompt service and presentation topped off with quality coffee, totally understandable why it's so busy. Nothing was a problem and selection from pre made fresh, quality to having something special cooked, others in party had pancakes and full cooked breakfast...with real sausage, both we rated very high and satisfied tums.

Simple food done well can be delightful, but you won't find that here. Unfortunately, this is basic food done very badly. Meals are of a very poor quality and it is a stretch to justify Old Mac's low prices for such awful food. The one saving grace was that the fries which came with my meal tasted good. Otherwise, presentation and quality were substandard. Service was ok. If you are after a delicious and satisfying restaurant meal in Hawera try somewhere else.
