Harlow is a former Mark One New Town and local government district in the west of Essex, England. Situated on the border with Hertfordshire, it occupies a large area of land on the south bank of the upper Stort Valley, which has been made navigable through other towns and features a canal section near its watermill. Old Harlow is a village-size suburb founded by the early medieval age and most of its high street buildings are early Victorian and residential, mostly protected by one of the Conservation Areas in the district. In Old Harlow is a field named Harlowbury, a de-settled monastic area which has the remains of a chapel, a scheduled ancient monument.

Visited this evening and was disappointed with our meal and overall experience here is some of the highlights:
- some of our starters and meals had things missing
- dessert had to be sent back as it was disgusting seemed like it had been microwaved to death and then grilled
- drinks weren't mixed properly
- toilets were dirty and completely blocked + other set of toilets completely out of order!
- Plates were taken away from us before we had even stopped chewing!
- We were sat on a tiny table really only suitable for 2 people and there was 4 of us!

Welcome to the Toby Carvery Harlow. When it comes to roast dinners, we really know our stuff. Every day our chefs lay on a feast of tender, hand-carved meats with all the trimmings – including towering Yorkshire puds, golden roasties with all those lovely little crunchy bits, and plenty of freshly prepared veg, all crowned with proper gravy. So it's no wonder we're Essex’s favourite carvery restaurant. Drop by and you'll find lots more on offer, including cooked breakfasts and tasty specials.
We visited on a Saturday lunchtime, and were a little surprised to get a table right away. Food was as expected which is fine, service was good, our waitress was helpful and friendly. I upgraded to King size, though in hindsight it probably isn’t something...MoreHello Alexander, Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review. number 1 posted indian resteraunt in area (on trip advisor)
not for us . start with the BEST FEATURE.
The staff are the best feature of the cinnamon and thats the only, 1st rating it gets from us. Our food was good except 1 side dish which was sent back . it was changed for a nann instead which was over burnt .
if your a couple going for a nice indian meal with a little ambiance and relaxation dont bother, due to the placing of tables which are far to close together , fine if its 5-10£ a head cafe ,not for a 45-50 £ a couple . You could reach over to try other tables food or worst still throughout the meal have to here there conversations from the sides and behind you and they hear yours as well.
At the better resteraunts you get a hotplate to keep the food at good temperature , sadly cinnamon dont, which ends up cold or tepid for the final part of your main meal.
This is normally done for a quicker TABLE turnover . I dont want to pile it all on my plate in one go, as if i am in a rush.
There are better ind resteraunts within a 6 mile radius and no more expensive.

At the Fox & Hounds, the atmosphere & service is friendly & informal with select local beers & a choice of continental lagers & great wines. Diners have the option of eating award-winning Chef, James Rix' sophisticated, but simple menu in the bar, lounge, or the superb chandeliered dining room. In the summer months, you can enjoy eating on our heated, covered Terrace. All our steaks are now cooked on the Josper oven, along with whole fish, squid, scallops in their shell and mussels. Our whole ribs of beef for Sunday lunch are also finished in the oven. The oven keeps fish really juicy - it cooks fish rapidly with great flavour & keeps flesh moist as well as enhancing the flavour of our steaks from the sweetness of the charcoal.
We called in with couple of friends for a pre-Christmas lunch. First surprise was that there was no lunchtime menu, just straight a la carte, and prices were West End in East Herts. However, we were there so had to go with the flow.
Service was a bit slow but the starters were very good. My black pudding with mushrooms and duck egg was really tasty, although the presentation left a little to be desired. My friends Skate cheeks with a dip was also very good and the other starters were also voted excellent.
For mains we all had a steak, a mixture of rump and rib on the bone between us. Three rare and one medium rare were ordered but when they arrived there was no difference between the rare/medium rare. We could have sent one back but it was not worth the hassle. The real gripe was paying £29 for a 12oz rib steak on the bone with just a few chips and cress (vegetables extra). That's a lot for pub grub.
To be fair my steak was very good but £100 per couple for a two course meal with a bottle of average Shiraz and a coffee is a lot of money.
Would I go back? Only, if someone else is paying.

A quaint traditionally English Country Pub and Restaurant. Set in the heart of a small community we offer a selection of cask conditioned real ales, ciders, premium lager and quality wiines
Always excellent, three of us ate here yesterday. Extensive pub menu, with lots of fish. It wasn't very busy yesterday, but they could have done with two staff on duty, although the one lady on her own managed, she was run off her feet poor dear. My one gripe is very personal, they don't open early enough.....we often go with 4 friends to watch shows at Harlow Playhouse, and have to eat at the Miller and Carter, because we would be late for the show. It would be great if The Rainbow and Dove opened an hour earlier in the evening.

We booked in advance but for some reason, couples in front of us who hadn't were being given 4 person booths. We were sat on a small table directly next to another couple. The food was nice, we had the nachos which are always amazing. However when our mains arrived the the onion loaf that comes with the steaks was stone cold. The waiter never came back to check so by the time our plates were collected it was too late. I did inform him and was simply told "sorry boss".
This used to be a really nice restaurant however the past 2 times we have been, it's not been great. We won't be returning again.
