We ate there for breakfast. There was typical breakfast food on the menu. The food was good and the service excellent. There were several families there and some seemed to be local, which is also a good sign. I had french toast that was nothing special but good.
My husband had eggs which were cooked to his liking many times not done in other restaurants. The restaurant was clean and decor pleasant. The prices were equal or maybe a tiny bit higher than the area. Noticed the dinner meals menu, it was same as the area restaurants. Full meals seem to be a bit pricey but it seems to be that way in many of the area places. I would go back again for a good breakfast meal..

The menu here is extensive and the food is always good. They also have a nice little shop and interesting art gallery. Murder Mstery Dinners and live music are scheduled periodically and are always fun to attend. We frequently go here to celebrate a holiday with friends.

The building that now houses Butterfields Cafe started out as Knapp’s Butcher Shop at the turn of the century and was Nightingale’s General Store until the 1960s. George Merich, who had purchased and was renovating another rural property in the foothills of the Catskills, would pass by the derelict, flood-ravaged property every weekend and thought, Someone should save that building. After 10 years of renovating his home, he bought this building despite his naysaying friends and ignoring offers to tear it down, envisioning a homey, comfortable cafe with home-cooked meals, top-notch coffee and baked goods, and outdoor seating during the peak summer months when visitors would come to the Southern Tier to enjoy its natural beauty and outdoor sports. An architectural lighting designer by trade, George changed careers and realized his dream when he opened the lovingly restored Butterfields in 2011 after a three-year renovation. Featuring breakfast and lunch, Manhattan bagels, the best coffee for miles around, themed monthly dinners, and a brand-new Sunday brunch, George has created a unique oasis for locals and travelers alike. Butterfields can host your private party or cater your special event. Ask about our vacation rental apartment located one block from some of the best trout fishing in the northeast.
Very cute breakfast place that has an outside deck to eat on. Great brunch. The hazelnut blackberry French toast was outstanding. The omelet was also good and the hash brown potatoes had a little kick and were great. Highly recommend and a hidden gem.

Beyond the great pastries and the large portions of the meals at reasonable prices, is the back room that is full of the history of entertainment. It served as an opera house, vaudeville stage and burlesque house. In all, Hancock is a charming town that was visited by Joe Dimaggio, who selected the wood for his bats from the local Louisvlle Slugger factory.

This really more of a specialty store than a restaurant. It is off the beaten path, about 4 miles off the highway. The last half miles is dirt, I would not go after a rain.
Prices were on the high side but the product was good.
While they do have posted hours, the owner had to walk offer from his house for our sale.

This is a nice spot if you're up in the country and want to have a beer with the locals. As for the food it's just mediocre. "Jamie" the bartender/chef/security/and Chief bottle washer is a very nice woman who puts her all into the food. She was spotted wiping down the grill and cleans as she goes.. We like that. This girl is a cleaning machine, and the place is spotless.
One other visit we were waited on by a woman who said she lives near by. But she wasn't very friendly at all. When we'd see her working we just get back in the truck and go elsewhere. It's people like Jamie that make a place fun to go to.
The wings are not the best, but not the worst either. I think the burgers are much better.
The bathrooms need a total remodel but at least they're clean. The paper towel holder is broken, towels on the window sill. Toilet paper is on top of the tank. (This is a cheap fix.) Shame on you!
One customer told us the place is for sale. Big bucks! And they're not going to put another penny into the place. Which makes me think things might change. I hope not. It's a nice place for a beer and has a nice atmosphere. We're going back. Just my two cents.

Restaurant Hotel Bar
Ate breakfast here while hotel guest and also as part of a 30 person family affair one night. Breakfast is complementary as a hotel guest and enjoyed both the French toast one morning and perfectly poached eggs on the second morning. Only gripe is "maple syrup" noted in the menu really isn't. I find this misleading from someone who comes from the north country where maple syrup means just that. They should be honest about this. Also be aware that at breakfast time the wait staff can become very overwhelmed since the kitchen is very careful about food preparation. This is not a fast food joint.
The family affair dinner truly deserved an excellent rating. Filet mignon cooked perfectly just as ordered by all the guests with their individual tastes. The red snapper perfect. This chef is a true professional in both acquiring top notch ingredients and in their preparation. It was she, not a waitress who took the actual orders.

This restaurant has a choice of dining rooms, casual or a little more formal. The more formal area has multiple hunting trophies so some of my friends prefer the more casual dining area below. The menu has a very nice selection of great food.
