Sitting at a strategic position along the Thames River, water has played a significant part in the growth of Groton, Connecticut. Visit Fort Griswold, a Revolutionary War era base built to defend the port of New London, most infamously known as the site of the betrayal of American forces by Benedict Arnold. Groton is also the "Submarine Capital of the World," home to the US Navy's main submarine base, as well as the Submarine Force Museum, where visitors can board the first nuclear submarine.

Although we got there early on a Friday night, there was a long waiting list. When we were finally seated, service was efficient and timely. Food as delicious. Fresh, homemade pasta. Good selection of reasonably priced wine. So worth the wait. Don’t miss it if you are in the area.

Wandering through New London on a rainy day, looking for a place to have lunch and we stopped and checked out the menu at Muddy Waters Cafe...great choice! The salads, sandwiches, and creamy tomato soup were very tasty. Easy place to sit, talk, and eat. We'd certainly stop and eat here again...even on a warm, sunny day.

Was fantastic. Honestly wasn't expecting to find such superb Thai food here. Both daughter and husband were blown away by how good the food was .

A small restaurant with some outdoor seating, friendly and efficient wait staff and very delicious food! We stopped for lunch during the week on the late side--not very many customers--but our lobster and crab bisque came quickly, very rich and full of seafood, followed by a Greek salad with perfect nongreasy gyro, and a wrap featuring cod fish--both above the usual and generous portions. The white wine sangria had slivers of Granny Smith tart apple in it-quite a nice touch-and we left pleasantly filled up. The desserts look decadent but we did pass on them....

I love this place, no questions asked. Their breakfast sandwiches are killer and can count on one hand the times I've been let down by their coffee (and I'm a regular). Plenty of seating, some outdoor as well when the weather is nice, and reasonable prices for a downtown location.

The quality of the brisket was pretty good. They have a few different style BBQ sauces which I enjoyed sampling. The mac n cheese could be improved a bit though. The staff was friendly, and the place was clean. Parking was easy. It was a little bit pricey but not over the top.

We celebrated a birthday at On The Waterfront. My first time . Awesome restaurant. Short on parking so plan to go and have to walk a ways, it’s worth it. Seating is comfortable and homey. Service was outstanding on a Wednesday night. Drinks were well made, and the food was delicious. We will definitely be returning soon to celebrate another birthday.

Came here recently for dinner and really enjoyed it. I started with a lobster bisque which was delicious. I then had the sea scallops, and they were equally nice. The staff (at the window) was very nice and the prices were in line with expectations. In conclusion, the place to go in New London for a nice seafood dinner!

Because of the poor weather, we decided to eat indoors at The Shack with our friends based on the recommendation of our friends who lived in town. First, it was very obvious that this was a local place for "townees", it seems that everyone knew each other! The service was attentive and the prices were very reasonable. Will go again if we are in town again.

We visited Tony D's with friends and had an excellent experience. Although not in the best part of New London, the parking lot was monitored and the back entrance allowed us to walk quickly through the rain into the restaurant. The restaurant itself was handsomely furnished with high backed red leather booths, reminiscent of an English club more than an Italian restaurant. Service was very good. The waitstaff was prompt and appropriate. I had an Italian sausage dish in a red sauce that was excellent. Others found their meal equally delicious. I highly recommend it
