Situated in the old railway station of Great Brak River you'll find this hidden gem, the Transkaroo Restaurant. With it's open rafters and ostrich shell chandeliers, overlooking the estuary and Indian Ocean you are quickly transformed to a bygone era of steam locomotives and Gatsby lookalikes! This restaurant has received accolades for the having the best food, menu and delightful service in Great Brak. A relaxed attitude and atmosphere makes this a truly enjoyable experience and we follow our motto with perfection..."local, fresh, and always tasty".
This is the best restaurant in the Garden route!! We’ve been there several times and I thought they were a little pricey(which was worth every cent), but if you campare how much a steak is at other restaurants, it is the same price. It is the attention to detail and I’ve never seen this unique menu anywhere else. Even the kids’ milkshakes with the marshmallow was just that little more special. Unfortunately, they don’t have the nice milkshake glasses anymore! Love this place!!

We are a Family Restaurant with A La Carte Menu.
The atmosphere is great. Very friendly and welcoming staff. Good food at reasonable prices. The vibe must be out of this world a night when the dance floor is open. Nice live music.

De Vette Mossel (The Fat Mussel) offers much more than perfectly prepared seafood – this is an experience – in unusual and informal surroundings with traditional Cape fishing culture – in true West Coast Style.
Friendly staff with more food than you can eat. The freshly baked bread table was definately my favourite. Great views and being barefoot in the sea sand while enjoying lunch, priceless.Hi Stella - looks like you had the right idea when you visited us! Thank you for your review and we hope to welcome you back soon again!

The place is cluttered with all sorts of bric a brac. We ordered tea, coffee and cake. I must say the cakes were fresh. I'd love to go back sometime to sample their lunches or even breakfasts. What spoilt the experience was when I was asked if I wanted to leave a tip when it came to paying the bill!

Visited a couple of times. People were friendly every time. Service is good and the food well prepared as well. It is clear that management is part of the daily operation and thus success of the restaurant

I had arrived fairly late at my B and B in Glentana and McNasty's was the only place in the area that had food available. Sitting next to the Great Brak River or rather Groot Brak Riviere as Afrikaans seemed to be the language of choice the building has sort of a rough frontier vibe with a open deck and picnic tables for outside Seating weather providing.
When I walked in I got a lot of looks as this is clearly a local joint filled with regulars and I was a stranger – very wild west. Nonetheless, after a short introduction I was welcomed to the group and quickly engaged in conversation. The kitchen was unfortunately about to close so the only thing that could be prepared was a pizza which was so-so. There are hamburgers, chicken strips, prawns, stuffed mushrooms and other typical pub foods on the menu plus of course a full selection of beer and spirits. There is live music from time to time. Don't know if it's a regular, say, weekend event or more sporadic.
This pub seems to cater to the permanent residents of what is essentially a summer vacation area which is also populated by a scattering of retirees. I can't vouch for the food but the ambiance once you get over initial introductions is very warm.

Nestled in the farmlands between Great Brak and George, MooiUitsig caters for a wide range of discerning customers. Great outdoors with a viewing deck overlooking Mossel Bay and the Outeniqua Mountain Range. Children's play area and braai facilities available. We are pet friendly.
Best place in the Great Brak area. If you are not in a great hurry to eat you cant beat Joan's cooking. Absolutely delicious. Garth entertains the regulars in the pub and Chris the barman is professional and friendly

Seeplaas is the home of Ken Maloney's magnificent 3 dimensional art, Mont Aime Coffee Shop & Venue and New Season Design Home Decor. Seeplaas is a family owned business & brings a personal touch to each client's dining experience. Mont Aime's Coffee Shop uses coffee beans that are roasted by a local roastery in Great Brak River. The gallery also boasts a selection of South African artists
We wanted to visit the restaurant for quite a while now. First impression of the restaurant is quite wow as the buildings are very neat. The view from the top of the dune is breathtaking. We were greeted friendly and assisted with a table outside. Then the waiting started. Quite a while before we were offered the menu and something to drink. We ordered coffee. Waited a bit but not excessively long. Ordered our breakfasts and then enjoyed the view. The food was okay presented and average in taste. Nothing special for the price. Average at best experience and manage your expectations. The art gallery is impressive. Tongue in cheek due to huge potential for 5 but the expensive bland food and service made it an average morning.
