Down on the water near Anthony's and Marketplace Grille, you'll find this fun, little cafe. They only serve coffee, breakfast and lunch. (And after-hour banquets) Service was friendly and mostly prompt except refills took a while. We tried the eggs benedict with ham (you may get tomato and spinach instead of ham). They were very good. The eggs were fluffy; the sauce is made fresh daily. Diced red potatoes came on the side. Other than being a little cold, the potatoes were very good: tender and flavorful. We also tried the banana bread french toast: three, thick slices of sweet, moist banana bread made into french toast. This was served with bacon, which was also very good.
Meals are around $11; drip coffee is only $2. They have been open 6.5 years and are a popular destination so there is often a wait for a table.

Il Lucano is now officially our family Italian restaurant, because all four members of our family have eaten here and loved it. Today it was our 24-year-old son's turn.
Once again we were lucky to have Tonia as our waitress. She has warmly and professionally served us three of the four times we've eaten here. We arrived early enough to order from the lunch menu. My wife and I each ordered the small Caesar Salads (I added anchovies to mine. For my entree I ordered the Lasagna, made with beef/pork sausage and all the regular lasagna goodies and served with housemade marinara sauce. My wife ordered the Pollo Gorgonzola (chicken breast sautéed in cream mushroom gorgonzola sauce topped with sautéed spinach. It also looked like it was garnished with a mound of sliced sun-dried tomatoes) and served on top of housemade pasta. Our son ordered the fabulous Pizza Classica, roma tomato sauce, mozzarella cheese and topped with plenty of delicious pepperoni. We also ordered a bottle of the red, lovely and fruity Zenato Valpolicella Superiore (Veneto).
For a free appetizer, their soft, sliced Italian bread served with olive oil infused with herbs and red pepper flakes is a dangerous way to whet your appetite because you can easily prematurely stuff yourself with it. It is that good.
History was made today. For the first time in our 32+ years together, my wife and I preferred each other's dishes. I enjoyed my lasagna but I was hooked by that cream mushroom gorgonzola sauce that elevated every component of my wife's dish. I couldn't stop taking bites from it. My wife, couldn't get enough of the marinara sauce along with the lasagna itself. She wound up eating much of my dish too. Our son loved his pizza, and graciously gave me a slice from it. I could have easily eaten more. I think I left our table several pounds heavier than when I walked in.
The meal was capped off my a visit to our table by co-owner/chef Michele Simone himself. He joked with all of us, especially our son. I had earlier and very briefly talked with his wife, Azusa Hirasawa, the other co-owner and who had been our waitress on our last visit. She enthusiastically greeted me like she remembered me from three months ago. Perhaps she had because I gave Il Lucano and her a glowing review. Or maybe she's this friendly to all her customers. Either way, it made me feel more welcome as a valued customer.
My wife said that one of the things she loves best about this restaurant is that they'll do whatever they can to make you happy, whether it's a custom dinner order or, overhearing Michele saying on the phone to a customer, "Yes, we can do that." Too many restaurants tell a customer that any changes to dish on the menu will cost extra, like it's a big hassle for the kitchen.
The entire visit was capped off by, as we were going out the door, Tonia called out to us to thank us for coming, Azusa also called out her thanks (with that big smile of hers) and Michele, having just hung up the phone from that customer. also gave us his thanks. We've never had that experience in any other restaurant. We truly feel at home here, our family Italian restaurant.

Ate here with family my first night in Gig Harbor, and it was a perfect choice. The dining room is stepped so that most tables have a view of the harbor. This time of year the Christmas lights are on many of the boats, so it is an especially nice view. The menu features seafood (of course) although there is a meat section. Everyone in our party ordered something different, and all plates were completely cleaned at the end of the meal. Service was attentive but not intrusive. The food arrived promptly and each dish was hot, and as ordered. We were too full for dessert. Definitely worth your time if in Gig Harbor.

Dropped by late afternoon and ordered the mushroom burger. Had to try the milk shake & really enjoyed it as well. Fries were hot and the shoe string variety which were crispy and good. Good service with a smile.

The Tides Tavern offers the greatest house-made food and finest beverages in the western hemisphere, but only to persons over 21 years of age. Please be prepared to show I.D. The building that houses the Tides Tavern was built by Axel Uddenberg in 1910 and served the area as a general store. Located next to the "People's Dock," the town's only public ferry landing, it was called the West Side Mercantile. From that time until the present it has had a series of owners and has been several businesses. Run down and in a state of disrepair, the building was bought by Peter Stanley in 1973. After an extensive and ambitious rebuilding project, the Tides opened it's doors to the public on Saturday June 2, 1973.
The clam chowder ranks up there with the best I’ve ever had. I also had fish and chips with halibut, a first for me and it was outstanding. Far better than cod.

I have a number of friends and relatives who speak highly of this place, and it is always busy when I come by, but as much as like their colorful furniture & friendly employees, I can't excited. The other night I visited with 2 friends and the wife - they were mostly happy with what they ordered, but I ordered the number 59 - Tostada Salad. It was a bunch of beans and a bunch of lettuce shreds laid on top of some poor helpless nachos chips with maybe, just maybe a smattering of ground beef. It was like something I used to make on a hotplate when I was in college (early seventies). This was after waiting a long time to have an order taken, and a long time waiting for a beer that never came, and quite a long time after order a Maker's Mark Manhattan straight up that was kind of almost a Manhattan. We ate in the bar, and so the other part of our experience was having to explain our orders to the 5 different individuals who came by once again, letting them know we had just explained it to one or two other people previously. Sorry, can't get behind this place. But since my mom always encouraged me to find something good to say about everything, I'm just going to come out and let everyone how much I do love the colorful tables and chairs El Pueblito!

We had a delicious dinner at the Green House. The wait staff was terrific. The clam chowder was so good. The coconut shrimp was also delicious. I would highly recommend for a nice night out.

We were lucky to obtain a booking for the special dinner during the Gig Harbor Wine Festival. It was a charming evening with the vintner visiting each table during the evening and giving the history of his wine. The restaurant is tiny, but lovely. The starter and main were great. The dessert was disappointing, but we assume that the chef was trying to match the wine rather than the wine matching the dessert and forgave him. The cost for four people was $456. This was a special evening and I would recommend the experience.

This is one of my favorite eating establishments in the Gig Harbor area. Always excellent food & excellent service, very friendly staff, full bar with micro brews. This strikes me as an upscale sport's bar & we really enjoy it. Large menu with superb food. I don't drive thru Gig Harbor without stopping for the French Onion soup, done right!! Great burgers, sandwiches, soups onion rings, etc. Always exceptional! And a great bar!! Family friendly, just a couple blocks off the freeway on the west side of the highway at the main Gig Harbor exit.

This place is a bit hard to find as it’s down by the water, off the street. Unassuming little cafe on the water with really unique dishes and excellent friendly service. They have a bit of a twist on all your breakfast favs. Definitely would recommend and return.
