After Reading the other reviews on Trip Advisor we decided to give Pulcinella a try. We walked 1.25 miles to the location shown on the map on Trip Advisor and on the restaurants own web site only to find it wasn't there. We eventually discovered it was within 100m of where we had started, close to the Puente Colgante. We never got to try the food as the waiter was so rude and unhelpful that we walked out half way through ordering. We will never go there again.

We went back to the Karola after an year, having always held it in high esteem. Extremely disappointing. Prices are still expensive or have gone up, quality has gone down.
The service was bad. We were literally bullied into ordering another dish after having repeated several times that we didn't want to; the only other time this happened was in a cheap Chinese restaurant in Soho many many years ago.
Breakdown:
Jamón, which used to be of exceptional quality and decent quantity, is now much reduced in both. No way that is worth 21 euros.
The dozen prawns from Huelva were insipid, small and totally overpriced at 27 euros.
The octupus dish was horrible, with a few pieces of octupus on an insipid mushroom puree, with fried eggs and bits of ham: totally senseless dish which will set you back 18 euros
A fish that I can get for 15-17/kg euros in the market was finally charged at 81 euros for one that was barely over a kilo!
The mango sorbet was out of a tin. Too artificially sweet. Cheeses were ordinary.
Crossed off my list forever.
Totalmente inadmisible, decepcionante, y nunca volveremos.

We visited this unassuming restaurant in a pedestrian side road two evenings in a week.
Both evenings ( and they are only open between 9-11 pm in the evenings), we were the only diners.
Absolutely delicious local food , big portions and friendly service for a very reasonable price.
A real find!

A small bar that serves good burgers made with real beef and other fast foods. A haunt of the middle aged local's. Good for a cheap dinner and a drink with the locals.

Living at Bilbao, I do not need a hotel, however recently we had a dinner party there in the lovely restaurant to give farewell to one of our friends. We entered with high expectations, but left the place quite disappointed for several reasons.
Service was o.k., however none of the waiters cared to fill up the glasses later on.
The entrance dishes were up to expectations, but the main course was some sort of a pitfall.
It consisted of a grilled rape (devilfish) with a side dish of fine cut chipirones in su tinta (calamaries in their ink). The devilfish was dry - most probably deep frozen, the chipirones quite hard. If I would have cooked this at home, I would have said: not my best day...
The dessert again was one of these "industrial-type" cakes, nothing special.
The worst of all was the mens lavatory, just a mess. So I complained at one of the waitresses.
Later on we went to the bar and dancing place. As there were a lot of persons present, temperature was quite high and combined with the high humidity it was quite uncomfortable. I asked the barman to increase the air-conditioning or to open a door. He told me hat air-conditioning was already at maximum and the door can not be opened because it is broken.
Needless to say, the door was labelled as emergency exit...Any further question?

We went for lunch. Most restaurants in Europe have menus in English in addition to their native menus. This one did not. We lost a little in the translation. Any small substitutions we asked for were met by the waitress saying "it would be too difficult". So we ended up with some weird concoctions. It was very basic inside too. weill not be back to this one.

We had a walk along the harbour front from the Puente Bizkaia to the Molino De Alixerrota (the windmill in Andra Mari) and on the way back we stopped off at this bar for some a beer and a couple of Pinchos in the old fishing village Algorta over looking Bilbao Harbour. The choice of Tapas was great, I wanted to try them all! We had a glass of Mahon Classic beer, which was pretty tasty and then went back for a few glasses of the local white wine taxolin. The guy behind the bar was very friendly doing his best to explain how to pronounce the wine, I'm hopeless at that type of thing. I gave him all my change to pay for the wine and he gave me back a five euro note, obviously needed the change! As the photos show its set in a nice square under the cover of a couple of plane trees.
There is no table service, you order at the bar and if your ordering other than the Pinchos a bell rings and a number is shouted out for your order.
Most enjoyable lunch, but my head doesn't currently agree!

the new site to 30 people very warm and friendly, specializing in Txuletón and roast pork, lamb and goat. Premium sausages areas and Guijuelo pony with an extensive wine from all regions of Spain
