Downtown Fort Bragg
When we found ourselves in Fort Bragg the next day, I could not resist stopping by Cowlick's for my second taste of ice cream in so many days. Arriving on a Monday during slow season, we had the place practically to ourselves in this quite large and bright location. Flavors change regularly and may even have different flavors depending on location.
Sampling is a good idea as the ginger that I loved the previous day at Mendocino was very sharp and pungent this time around probably because it was closer to the bottom of the barrel. Saving room for lunch, we split a double scoop this time of the Black Forest and the Hokey Pokey which is honeycomb candy ice cream with honeycomb pieces that is locally sourced by A Sweet Affair. The honeycomb was delicious and creamy while the Black Forest was decadent. Decent price for the quality of ice cream and how can you not love the name and the cow decorations around the shop.

Located in the Boatyard. we have a wonderfull staff and excellent food. Serving Breakfast and Lunch 7 days a week.
Stopped in for breakfast. I had a tradition assortment of food: eggs, hash browns, sausage, pancake. The eggs and potatoes were cooked just right though the portion of potatoes was small. The sausage patty was flatten out so much that it got way over cooked and had very little flavor. My wife had eggs with biscuits and gravy. The gravy seemed to have lots of meat but it seemed to be old bits of bacon and that tasteless sausage. Though the dish is my wife's favorite, she hardly touched this plate.

This has been our place to get revived from shopping and sightseeing. Nothing like a hot chocolate or coffee with a dessert to give an extra burst of energy for more shopping and sightseeing. Friendly comfortable environment. Always enjoy stopping here.

One of first stops in Fort Bragg is always the Mendocino Cookie Co. My husband and I usually pick up at least a half dozen in anticipation of enjoying them with a cup of coffee in our hotel room. Never a disappointment! These cookies are good sized and are better than bakery cookies. The chocolate chip, peanut butter, and, this visit, the backpacker's cookies were amazing. Baked perfectly; not too chewy and not too crumbly. Since we were in Fort Bragg for six days this visit we had to make two runs to the Cookie Co!

There was a wait here for breakfast because of the relatively cozy space with it’s Wizard of Oz theme taken to extremes. The plates they use are disposable which I thought was not attractive though perhaps environmentally responsible. The food was hearty breakfast food but not quite worth the wait. There are plenty of cutesy named dishes offered making for lots of selection for breakfast with the usual suspects like burgers and sandwiches and burritos for lunch. They feature locally caught Dungeness crab which I was tempted to try but went for the traditional biscuits and gravy since I’ve been on a biscuit craze lately. I couldn’t even tell they were biscuits under the overly floury thick glop that was the bland gravy. My partner ordered the steak and eggs and the waitress had to go back to the kitchen to see if they ran out of the steak. We were there at around 10 AM after all. Lucky they had it and it was cooked well, nice sear and though chewy, flavorful Perhaps in Fort Bragg this is great food but it was for us just good.

Stopped for lunch - it's a bit confusing when you walk in as it looks like just counter services, but it is actually full services. The server was quick and bright and cheery. Food was very good and came promptly. Atmosphere is pretty interesting with the old steam locomotive in the middle of the dining area. A great stop for lunch.

This is Italian food at its best. You can taste the love in every bite. I have ordered linguini and shrimp way too often not to know the best of the best. It is here. The waitress was friendly and helpful and full of personality. She gave my wife and I the gift of a pleasant dining evening out. My wife's ravioli made her close her eyes and smile. I highly recommend D'Aurelios.

Handmade Decadent Chocolates Captivated by the Mendocino mood, artists and artisans from everywhere have come here to live and work. Is candymaking an art? We think so, and take special care in creating artful handmade confections as beautiful to behold as they are delicious to eat. All of our customers are friends. Some we've met only by mail, phone or internet, but we'd love to meet you in person. Everyone loves to visit the Mendocino Coast. Stop in at our new location at 10466 Lansing Street (between Village Toy Store and Rainsong) in the Mendocino Village. Also visit our larger shop in nearby Fort Bragg, a lively fishermen's and logger's town that's famous for its old-time Skunk Train and incredible coastline. Meanwhile, enjoy the chocolates we love to make. If they put you in a Mendocino mood, please write and tell us about it. We really appreciate and enjoy hearing from you. If you're a fan of old-fashioned candy store creations...you're in for a treat at the Mendocino Chocolate Company! This is our first stop when my husband and I are in the Ft. Bragg/Mendocino area -- because their candy is just so good! The many different varieties of caramels are my personal favorite...they're not overly sweet, not your "cookie-cutter" flavor, but they do just melt in your mouth. They also have homemade fudge, and even offer some sugar-free options. Yes, they are a little pricey compared to a box of mass-produced chocolates, but they're well-worth it! :) **Note, it's a candy shop, not a restaurant.**

Its a pub, small not fancy. But the pizza was really good. Our waiter was nice. Place is popular and busy. I was pleased that my teen boys were allowed in since this place was highly recommended. Lots of locals mixed with travelers. I would come back. Great beer selection.

After reading some reviews, we thought we would try Mayan Fusion. It is located on the main road and although it was full on a Saturday night, we were able to get a table rather quickly. I ordered a pomegranate, chili-lime margarita and it was quite good. My husband got the sangria and was pleasantly surprised. We also ordered crab cakes and although a bit light on the crab, had excellent flavor.
I ordered the fish tacos and I so wanted to like them, but honestly they were quite bland and flavorless. My husband ordered the pork and was also not impressed. There is a lot of potential in this place as it is nicely decorated and had good service. All that is needed is some spices and a bit of heat.
I hope they improve so we can go back and give them another chance, because the margarita was quite good.
