When we took the Flam Railway from Mrydal to Flam we decided we would like a coffee when we reached our destination. Although there were a number of cafes, snack bars etc. in the area we wanted something a little more comfortable and less crowded. We walked up to the Fretheim hotel - an attractive late Victorian building with a pretty garden and went into the elegant hotel lobby where there were comfy chairs and a nice fire burning. Despite the fact we only ordered a coffee we were made very welcome and the prices were very reasonable.

Kafè in Flam centre. Breakfast, Lunch ,Dinner, coffeestop, icecreambar and fastfoodmeny. Lunch- and dinnerbuffet in the restaurant in the summerseason. Groupmeny for privat arrangement in the restaurant. The cafè and restaurant have together 270 seats. We also have 380 seat in our open air Terrace by the fjord and barbecues daily on our Terrace from 24/6 through mid- August as well as weekends in August and September. Ideal for groups.
This is a cafeteria type restaurant where you place your order anc collect it at the pick-up window. They just started getting busy when we arrived, but they have a buzzer system that allows you relax while you wait for the buzzer to go off indicating your food is ready.
We were interested in the Pizza as it looked really good on the others tables.
We were not disappointed, we paid around €26 for a pizza that was sufficient for two adults and my teenage daughter. not bad considering the location and this is Norway!
You can also help yourself to free ice cold water from a water dispenser.
Overall a good lunch and would recommend this to other thrifty travellers

Norway's only train cafe! Build over two railway carriages from the 1920's. COFFEE, CAKE, PIZZA, BURGER, SOUP, BEER, WINE, SOFTDRINKS GOOD PRICES!
A pleasant little cafe with Seating outside. Ordered and given alert gizmo for when food ready. Fortunately a waiter passed our outside table and said "Your food is ready." Apparently the gizmos have limited range and it hadn't gone off outside. Very nice Bergen fish soup (similar to Cullen Skink but £17.50). Be aware, prices are not just Norwegian but tourist trap Norwegian at this cafe and throughout Flam! 0.3l local beer £11! Glass of wine £9!

Restaurant in the hotel with about 100 seats - in- and outdoor. Fully licensed. In the winterseason we serve warm evening meals weekdays.
Meats, vegetables, soups, desserts, salads, and water/coffee...all you can eat buffet for a very fair price...polite and attentive Waitstaff...on main floor of hotel...open to all, not just hotel guests. there are very few restaurants in Aurland and this one is a good choice.

The staff is very friendly. Food is good; do not expect fine dining, but it is well made and ingredients are good. Norway has a strange relationship with dining as everything is extremely expensive. This place is not cheap, but does have a friendly charm worth a buck. The house wine is under par. Choose another or skip the wine.

Everything about this place is great. The building, the fireplace in the bar, the beer, the staff and the food. We had to wait approx 20 mins for a table but enjoyed a beer by the fire. Once upstairs the food was delicious. We had the venison burger and the oven baked salmon. Would recommend both. Definitely worth a visit!

Green Norway is beautifully located in the orchard at Flam Camping. We focus on local ingredients and offer a fusion of Norwegian and international cuisine. You can enjoy the stunning nature surrounding and friendly service while having an espresso, snack or a proper meal. We offer freshly made sandwiches, home baked cakes, crepes, local meat and fish from BBQ. You can also try our real coffee, fresh juices or smoothies. We also ofer local delicatessen. Looking forward to see you there!
Expensive and small selection of choices, but few other places to choose from/open. We had the reindeer meat balls. It was accompanied with a very small few vegetables. My friend was still starving afterwards. It is a cute place to eat, informal and casual. The Seating is all outdoors with blankets for the evening times. It adjoins the hostel in Flam. The server was helpful and friendly.

We enjoyed our excellent lunch on the patio of this cafe, which was a nice spot at the end of the fjord, a bit removed from the Flam "Norway in a Nutshell" crowds. The nachos were delicious as were the burgers. Friendly, efficient service and great wifi too. We were very happy with our lunch here and would recommend it.
