For the first course we have Pemaquid Mussels with shallots, white wine, leek & chive cream, fine herbs and Maine Crab Cake with smoked paprika aioli, pickled red peppers, arugula. For the main course we both had Lavender Marinated Duck Breast with duck confit, braised radish, roasted cauliflower puree, melted leek. It was all served in a relax manner. The noise level was just enough so that it did not interfere with your conversation.

I've been using European Bakery as a source of store bought cakes for thirty plus years. They've never let me down. Meticulous attention to detail.
I usually sneak a pastry when I stop to pick up the cake. Can't specify what's best but I've never been unhappy walking out!
Recently, we've been getting Thanksgiving pies here. Chocolate cream-just forget about the Turkey!! My wife makes the worlds best apple pie so I've never tried it here. But pumpkin, pecan, cherry (and the aforementioned chocolate) are all good.
It's a bit out of the way for a Portlander, but worth the extra mile up route one to skip the grocery store.
Note: they have a cafe in case you want a coffee and pastries. But you'll want to bring home a cake.

Artisanal, European breads and pastries for takeaway. Slow-fermented, hand-crafted breads and classic pastries with a local twist, carefully prepared by our small crew of skilled bakers. Breakfast pastries, cookies, traditional baguettes, naturally-leavened organic breads made with local grains, seasonal and daily specials. We also provide limited seating outdoors seasonally.
This bakery is simply awesome! Went on Easter morning and it was running as efficiently as could be even with the lines of people and special orders. The assortment of baked goods to chose from is fantastic. Deliciousness!

Portland's only authentic Italian gelato shop! Welcome to paradise !!
We've been going to Gorgeous Gelato since they opened & it is so much better than any other gelato in Portland. It's rich, creamy, and so fresh. There are so many sweet and fruity flavors to choose from. Being lactose intolerant, they always have a few non-dairy options.

Located in a plaza on US 1, this small café has free parking for walk-ins and a heavily used service window for drive-through patrons. Inside is an eclectic array of small tables and chairs, stools at a short bar, and deep seats for patrons who wish to linger. The baristas are friendly and efficient, and particularly congenial with the café’s apparent regulars. Menu selections and item specials reflect the chain’s standard fare. All dining and drinking areas are consistently orderly and clean, as is the restroom. The seasonally used AC and the in-house free Wi-Fi both work well. If you favor this brand’s product line-up, you’ll appreciate the convenience of this location just as much as I do.

Found this place on Trip Advisor and wanted a good meal with my wife on Friday evening. Really interesting Thai menu and plenty of build your own a-la-carte choices too. Quick friendly service, pleasant decor, excellent food. They had good draft beer choices as well - unusual in most Asian restaurants we have visited. Can't wait to go here again!

We stopped at the Foreside Tavern for an early Saturday evening dinner after visiting a relative at an assisted living facility nearby. We were able to get a table without a reservation at 5:00 p.m., but the restaurant definitely filled up quickly, and other times we drove by we noticed the parking lot to be quite full.
We decided to start the meal with a cocktail. My Manhattan was definitely the worst Manhattan that I have had in quite some time. It seemed watered down--no kick to it at all. Their menu shows a 5 drink maximum that they will serve an individual. I can't say that I have ever seen that sort of information on any other menu!
They also have some policy about bringing in your own takeout containers for a small credit on the bill. I am all for recycling, but I can't say that I like the idea of bringing my own takeout container!
The Casco Bay mussels with black garlic, vermouth, apple cider, pine nuts, and one tiny piece of baguette were our choice for a shared appetizer. At $13.95, this appetizer was definitely overpriced. We didn't particularly care for the sauce, and the mussels themselves were for the most part tiny, so tiny that I had a hard time pulling them out of the shell. Complimentary bread with herb butter was a nice touch.
We were not all that thrilled with our entrees. My scallops were cooked fine, but the sauce accompanying was heavy, and the lemon risotto did not seem to go that well with the dish. My husband's swordfish was not the usual swordfish steak piece. It was tasty enough, but he did not particularly care for the farro risotto that came with it and wound up eating most of my lemon risotto. The broccoli rabe on both dishes was limp and not particularly tasty.
Service was fine throughout the meal. However, overall we did not think that we got good value for our money. When we next return to Falmouth to visit our relative, we will not be going back to the Foreside Tavern.

Emilitsa is a Greek restaurant located in the arts district of Portland, Maine and boasts a contemporary and casual atmosphere. Emilitsa brings a wide array of Mezethes (small plates), Megala Piata (large plates), and pristinely fresh seafood to the seacoast area. We honor the breadth of traditional cuisine from all regions of Greece. We prepare our Greek dishes with as many local, fresh, organic and natural ingredients as are available to us. We also accommodate those with food allergies.
Our son's in-laws in Chicago are Greeks by heritage and conviction, so we habe been treeted to their cuisine-- excellent at home and in their favorite restaurants, but mostly traditional and conventional. Emilitsa re-imagines many of those dishes, so they manage to surprise, and to delight in new ways. Service is friendly and professional, and it's a delight to be able converse with friends without cupping your ears or straining to hear. This is one of the favorite restaurants we recommend to friends when they visit Portland.

We were walking downtown Portland and saw the line. Potato dough based donuts? Well, let me tell you -- these were amazing. We got a bag of 4 donuts -- Lemon Glaze, Coffee Brandy, Chocolate Glaze, and Ginger Glazed sweet potato. Nibbled on them until the next morning. Even the next morning these lovely donuts were fresh tasting and moist, not stale like normal donuts. So good we made a second pit stop on the next day. Go early for best selection. These are some of the best donuts we've ever had. A most stop in while in Portland.

Love Cupcakes takes everyone's favorite, old school dessert and serves it with a distinct twist. Love Cupcakes serves fresh and incomparably delicious cupcakes out of a vintage, 1960's travel trailer, allowing us to spread the love all over Southern, Maine and beyond.
Just stopped for my first ever Love Cupcake - since I could choose, I tried vanilla with chocolate icing. Compact, rich and satisfying. Must stop again soon and try other flavors.
