We visited at the recommendation of our local equestrian guide and glad we did. The buffalo burger was good and the onion rings were still good although not home made. My wife's salad was guacamole and iceberg lettuce (not the best salad) with picante and she wished that she would have ordered something else. The service was excellent and we enjoyed the friendly conversations. The restrooms were very very clean and nice and included a baby changing table for family friendliness. I would to go back and try other menu items.

We stopped in for coffee to go. Then shopped up and down Front Street. Then we returned for lunch. We had a Turkey and swiss sandwich on a croissant and a ham and swiss sandwich on a croissant. The nice lady who took our order recommended the croissant and it was delicious. When we left we bought some sticky buns to take home and they were also delicious. They have great, friendly service. Great food and atmosphere. I would give a 10 if I could.

Millonzi's Restaurant is a family owned neighborhood Itiaian restaurant. The food is home made by the millonzi family daily. Our bar offers a wide screen tv, happy hour specials and the friendliest bartender in town. Our outdoor deck over looks the Mosquito range and Fairplay beach.
This is becoming my favorite in Fairplay. Great atmosphere and a cool bar with friendly staff and friendly diners. My favorite is the chicken parm - better than any othet Italia restaurant I've been to including some that are twice the price. They close early at 9pm (maybe not early for Fairplay) so get an early start.

Surprisingly tasty and extremely FRESH food--particularly in the Thai selections! HOT (temperature), just-prepared items arrive with a smile! Try this place!

I really wanted to like this place - small town, nice people, cool old building. My sandwich was excellent - smoked turkey/mozzarella/pesto sauce on fresh bread. The cappuccino was tasteless and uninspiring - if I had not witnessed the sound of expresso steam and froth I would have though it came from a machine like at the bus station... Sorry Moose, if Java is in your name you must produce a worthy beverage offering. This is a nice comfortable support-the-locals kind of place but not worth a specific journey. There is some great scenery in South Park so if you are in the area give this place a go - maybe I just had an flat joe - stuff happens experience. And be warned - it's a cash only place.

We stayed in Fairplay two nights and ate here both evenings. We were attracted to the local atmosphere, the customers all seemed to know each other well. We interacted with at least five different members of the staff and all were super friendly. We had the chili one night and shared a burger and sweet potato fries the second night. The food was very good and we enjoyed a local stout both evenings.

Family run and family friendly restaurant with spectacular scenery just outside. Wonderful service. Smoked meats include chicken and pork. A bit pricey. The beans and cole slaw were wonderful.

We are a full service and family friendly restaurant specializing in steaks and southwestern cuisine.
We stopped in at South Park Steakhouse after we did our walk through town; and wanting a bit of a bite before we stopped at a local brewery. This place looked promising so we decided to give it a try.
We were greeted immediately; and there were about 4 other tables occupied when we arrived. The woman that greeted us was extremely friendly; and she also had her two young girls assisting her with providing straws and napkins. A cute touch.
We only wanted a couple of snacks to share. We were looking at the jalapenos - but she stated that the batch they received were truly HOT and if we were ok with that she would place the order but just wanted us to know. Our traveling guest likes some spice but HOT is not something she enjoys so we opted for two other things.
First we ordered the fries with green Chile and cheese. The next thing we ordered was the spinach artichoke dip. We had about 30 minutes before we needed to go; and we didn't think it would take that long to receive the food. It truly took about 25 minutes for our food to arrive; and we were rather perplexed.
Once it arrived, it was simply ok. The fries and green Chile were cold - truly cold. Only a few fries had some warmth to them. Same with the artichoke dip. We muscled through as the flavors were ok - but at the end of it all it just did not feel that we had received our money's worth. I'm not certain why our food was cold at all - because it took quite a bit of time for it to arrive. We ate what we wanted to quickly and then left for our next stops on our tour through the mountains.
Would we return? Not sure we would go out of our way when driving up from Denver. But we did give it an honest try; and they were simply so kind to us. My hope is that they are reading the reviews on here and making adjustments to their food and service; we do truly want them to be successful! Small towns need these types of restaurants!

We stopped in at the Trails End on a Sunday for a late lunch. We had burgers and sandwiches and very good french fries. It's an excellent place for lunch.

A coffee and ice cream shop serving coffee beans roasted in Buena Vista and ice cream make in Idaho Springs. Featuring crafts made by Colorado artists.
We stopped in hoping for a quick restroom stop and to grab a soda. We ended up choosing fresh fruit smoothies and milkshakes for the kids. The ice cream is made locally specifically for this establishment and was incredible! The smoothies were just as good.
