Front Desk Staff at Holiday Inn Express recommended this place to eat, and it sure was a great recommendation. Beautiful view and wonderful people. Alex our server was excellent. I definitely would recommend this place to anyone--- the food here is delicious.

A bit small inside, but there are a couple of booths and bar stools. The ice creams is really good. Quality and Taste are great. Prices are pretty good too. Certainly better than a Coldstone. You can get more than ice cream also. Licks is right off the main street that runs through Excelsior. If you go to this area, you have to stop by this place and get some ice cream. It's well worth the visit. You won't be disappointed!

I am a regular at this Dunn Brothers. I walk in and they are already making my Caramel Ice Crema! Private meeting room, live music, outdoor seating in nice weather. Water bowl outside for thirsty pups. The staff is super-friendly and always pleasant.

Love their custom made sandwiches, just not crazy about their "system". Small area to line up, once you are at the counter you are suppose to know to get a pencil and one of their forms, mark your choices, submit the form, pay, stand aside and WAIT, while the sandwich maker who is already backed up gets to your order. It is very cramped inside so you best plan on "takeout" during the winter months. With that said I've never had a bad sandwich, soup, baguette or pastry.

Cute business, locally owned, and well established. Fun place to stop for frozen custard or frozen yogurt any time, but especially on a summer's evening. Just off the bike trail, so a fun destination.

We have been to Kai's three times now and each time the food has been very good and well priced for the quality and quantity. However, at each of our visits there were difficulties with the service. Wrong orders placed, incorrect billing (a different order was rung up on our card and had to be voided and recharged our correct lower amount. We will definitely go back, but we just have to work with the servers to avoid difficulties.

A friend had told me he had a poor experience here because his waitress was overly anxious and rude to get him out the door at the end of his meal. I thought it was just bad luck and so went there for the first time with 2 girlfriends. To begin with, parking is a pain in Excelsior and I drover around for 15 min before finding a space. The hostess was very nice and seated us immediately (we had reservations). The place is very small and crowded and quite noisy (not a good first date place). Our waitress told us the specials, one of which was a steak which she described as "a little chewy, but in a good way." What?? When is a chewy steak ever a good thing? I started with the house salad which was nothing special and pretty small. Fo dinner 2 of us had the posole chicken. It definitely had a kick to it from the spices but tasted fine. However the portion was small. The toasted tortilla that was served on the side with it tasted very stale. My other friend had the scallops and she thought they were ok. We shared the "crispy" cauliflower as a side, yet it was hardly crispy. It must have been fried but the oil made it mushy. While we were toward the end of eating dinner but still with food on our plates (and one of my girlfriends was putting a forkful of food in her mouth), the waitress came by to ask if we were done ad could she clear the plates! It was obvious we were still eating. Also, not once did she come by to refill our drinks. After she cleared the plates she asked "can I get anything else or just the check?" We were astonished and asked "Do you have a dessert menu?" She then proceeded to rattle off a list of about 8 desserts which we could hardly keep straight. Not sure why we couldn't see a menu aside from the fact she seemed in a hurry. We split the carrot cake and an ice cream cake. They were pretty good. The cost of the meal was about $40 per person before tip. I do not plan to go back due to the poor, rude service, small portions, and average food. Too many other places in Excelsior and Wayzata to go to that far surpass this--Victors on Water, Bellecour, Giannis, Cov, etc.

Enjoyed ice cream cones by the lake on a perfect Minnesota summer afternoon. The Nicollet Avenue Pothole and mint chocolate chip were our family favorites.

This is the place to drop by for a beer in Excelsior. The big open tap room is very laid back and welcoming. Beware though, there is no food served here. I tried a flight of beers, they have two flight choices, and I can't say which one I had. I really liked two in my flight, really didn't like one, and the rest were OK. More than the beer really is the atmosphere. As soon as you walk in it's like you're at a big backyard party.
