Lovely busy little restaurant which specializes in fish, particularly sardines. We had a great meal there with lovely helpful staff. This is a local restaurant which is always a bonus as it was packed on the evening we went. The prices were very reasonable as well and we would recommend this to anyone who is in the area. As a bonus, it has wi-fi which is a god send in this area.

The Restaurant & Gastronomic Atelier Sra.Peliteiro was born in August 2011 in Fão, continuing the work started by Chef Paula Peliteiro in Brazil. Since February 2016 you will find in the new facilities in Quinta da Barca enjoying the breathtaking scenery of the Golf Course and view of the Cávado river in Esposende. Passionate about the culinary art, Mrs. Pelitario receives its "guests" with an abundance of colors, aromas and flavors, as in a world of 1001 nights. Its global cuisine with flavors beyond borders is based on traditional Portuguese cuisine, creating tasty exotic dishes: a Tagine (Moroccan) or a moqueca (Afro-Brazilian), or even an octopus with the pepper of the land of the Azores. The sweets, another of the passions of Mrs. Peliteiro, are inspired by the richness of the Portuguese convent candies and offer the "icing on the cake" to all who delight in a tasty meal. The Sra.Peliteiro Project, such as the Atelier Gastronômico, organizes culinary themed workshops for children, adolescents and adults in its space, as well as in various institutions, as a volunteer, as part of its Social Intervention by the Community.
The restaurant is set within a Golf course complex and has a nice view over the river and greens. We were not so lucky since we encountered two large groups, one of them very noisy. I was expecting a cosier restaurant with a pleasant ambience. Maybe next time I'll get luckier! In contrast, the food was very good and well presented. For starters we chose the shrimp in its nest and a type of codfish salad. The taste was magnificent! For main course I chose codfish with a special batter and excellently fried chips and my husband chose the "Posta Mirandesa" (the latter was not that magnificent since the meat was not soft). The codfish was superb. For dessert I had the red berries trifle and my husband the "Pão de Ló" with portuguese "marmelada". Very good! The poorest part of our lunch experience was the service level: most of the team are too young and don't seem to be well prepared, as well as show lack of experience and lack of attention to detail. It is a great pity because with a well trained team this would become an excellent restaurant in this region.

We stumbled upon this restaurant while exploring the town of Fão and we weren't disappointed! Everyone was so friendly and the food was very good. Very reasonably priced as well. We recommend it if you are in the area and looking for great Portuguese food.

I order for two, lamprey bordelaise (cooked with red wine) and rice, and lamprey with rice and a fantastic sauce made with lamprey juice.
Outstanding, with an excellent Douro wine, and for desert a very good conventual sweet, made with a lot of eggs. Price is really excellent, and personal service.

Thought of trying here but thr queues were far too long and too many people trying to get waiters attention. Plenty of other restaurants nearby ...go elsewhere.

Fantastic restaurant with great grilled fish. It seems that ribs are great as well but we came for the fish. Fresh, unique, priceless. In an area near the sea and many fish restaurants this is perhaps one of the best in the little town of Fao. Worth the visit. Not the cheapest bit good service and quality has their price.

Once in a while we come to have lunch over the weekend at "LAREIRA" and without any doubt the chosen main course is its famous grilled pork cutlets! Very well seasoned and charcoal grilled. With it comes a delicious white beans rice with green peppers and fries. The utmost fabulous combination, washed down with red wine. Fabulous! For dessert I always choose the local "Clarinha" (delicious!), although the "Rabanada" (sort of French toast) or the "Leite creme queimado" (similar to creme brullé) are very tempting too! It is a small local restaurant but absolutely divine!

We had lunch here, fortunately we had got here early as it filled up very quickly even just for lunch. We followed the recommendations from trip advisor and had the burgers. They were absolutely amazing. Toasted buns, loads of fresh and tasty filling , sauce and salad and a proper burger. Very reasonable and nice service too.

The restaurant was recommended to us as featuring typical and authentic Portuguese cuisine. We were the only diners in the restaurant and the 'Staff" were all watching a soccer game and seemed bothered by having to wait on us. They brought a plate of prawns which we didn't order and sent back since they had a bad smell. The dish they recommended was literally inedible. There were a couple of pig knuckles or toes or some boney part, which had no meat at all. The rest of the bowl was some kind of cabbage and potatoes, all of which was without taste, cold and again, inedible. We left hungry.

This is a traditional restaurant where you can find a huge variety of dishes manly fish. Really nice place, cheap and the service is fast even when the restaurant is full. Go there as early as you can, so you don't have to wait outside for your turn
