Nestled in the San Juans on Orcas Island in the Village of Eastsound, you'll find a quant small baking kitchen, a place for grabbing breakfast/brunch on the way to explore the island or a mid day lunch break with soup. After a long day exploring the island, we'll see you back for a slice of heaven with one of our fresh-made desserts. Even linger, watching our bakers working at the large baking table and get some tips on honing your skills. We'll see you soon at Brown Bear Baking.
Brown Bear is renowned for its French pastries, and rightly so, but don’t forget their soup and bread for lunch. There’s just one kind a day (and none in the summer) but you can’t go wrong-servings are tasty and generous., and they almost always sell out. Today’s was an outstanding potato leek.

A local brewery featuring their own brews...small quarters, but more of a local hangout....no food available, except cheese and crackers and peanuts, pretzels . You can bring your own food if you wish. Tourists welcome, but not overly friendly. Worth going for a brew, but don’t expect too much.

We loved the setting. This beautiful little bay at sunset was simply stunning! Ate at the bar, as their tables were all booked. Super delicious meal, salad and salmon, all superb. Great wines too. Only annoyance was bartender, obviously had a few issues with women... I was paying the bill, but change brought to my husband. I ordered the wine and gave taste to men, then gave me a splash and filled everyone else's glass. The other female in the group noticed it too. Our husbands didn't, but when we called it to their attention they were annoyed. Didn't ruin our evening, which was superb! Hope he's just new and will learn to treat women equally!

Chocolatier extraordinaire! If it involves chocolate/caramel, KT's has figured it out and made it in to something amazing! The Caramel Latte (hot or iced) is Ahhh-mazing! There's ice-cream, tea selections, hot chocolates, coffee, espresso, chocolates, baked goods (the quiche is yummy!), and an affogato for those who can't make up their minds!
I frequent with my preschooler. Always welcomed, always quick service, always yummy!

The cafe is Delicious food with a spirit of genuine service and hospitality Guests who visit the New Leaf remark on two things consistently: the quality of the food and the caring service. Your experience is always at the forefront of our minds - the food must be good and we want you to feel taken care of, delighted, relaxed, welcomed.
Our family of three checked out the New Leaf Cafe for breakfast during our week-long vacation on Orcas Island, and we had a wonderful meal with some really great food. We love us some comfort food, so when we opened the menu, we immediately fixated on the biscuits & gravy and chicken & waffles. Our daughter went for the former, my wife the latter, and I ordered the two eggs with chicken sausage, potatoes, and brioche.
We all came away very impressed with our respective meals, and took turns offering bites of our meals to each other because they were so good, and then fending off the advances of forks from across the table for another bite. Everything we ate was super yummy, well-prepared and in reasonable portions.
The cafe is light and airy, our server was friendly and attentive, and the breakfast we ate at New Leaf was one of our best meals of the trip.

Clever Cow Creamery in Eastsound WA serves local, freshly made ice cream sundaes, cones, floats, sodas, smoothies and milkshakes as well as coffee and affogatos. During the fall and winter months, brats, paninnis and delicious home made soups are added to the offerings.
The ice cream is nothing special and cannot be distinguished from what you get at the grocery story.
The service is self-absorbed and slow. When we arrived wanting a sundae we were informed that all of the fudge and all of the caramel sauce had just been refilled and none of it was warm. There must have been a huge rush on sundaes for it to all run out at once. Or perhaps the staff just don't pay attention to such things, which is the more likely explanation.
Also, it is the worst sort of greenwashing window dressing to incur the expense of compostable cups while also providing no compost container for disposing of them. When I asked the employees about this, I was told they don't have any compost containers and to just throw it in the trash. The employee in charge just said "I know. It is stupid" (what a great representative of your business!), causing another employee to ask "hey, that's right, why don't we?!?". Why are you wasting your money (and adding to your already high prices) on compostable packaging if there is no way to compost it?

They do breakfast and lunch only. Food was very good, and we preordered dessert as we could see small quantities of items upon entry. Service was awful, though.

We are Orcas Islands Premiere spot for breakfast and lunch. Staring Jan 20th please join us for dinner as well Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday from 5:30pm-8pm...
We went there for breakfast. The portions were large. The Breakfast buritto was breakfast for my wife and lunch for both of us. The French Toast was also very good. The staff was very attentive, my coffee cup was kept full. We would absolutely go again.
