This is where you get REAL ice cream from a nice guy. The prices are fair and selection is good. I appreciate that Du Quoin still has an old fashion ice parlor.

These donuts are much better than the gas station donuts from Casey's. The chocolate long john is one of my favorites. The cookies are great, as well.

The St. Nicholas Brewing Company opened in 2014 as a microbrewery and restaurant. We are a local brewpub specializing in our own craft beer and upscale pub food including brick-oven pizzas, steaks, fresh seafood, sandwiches, and a variety of appetizers. Located in the historic and renovated St. Nicholas Hotel, all of our beer is brewed in house to be paired with your favorite pub foods.
After consulting TA, we checked out St. Nicholas Brewing Co. for lunch, and once again, the many positive reviews on this site steered us in the right direction. This place is located right off the main street of DuQuoin, and apparently it used to be a hotel at one time.
The brewery area is visible as you first walk in (and they have tours two Saturdays of each month). The restaurant area is decorated with bicycles hanging from the walls and rafters and a few random pictures of St. Nick. Their menus mention that the tables are made from the refurbished wood of an old bowling alley. Overall, it's a cool look. We liked the fact the eating area was not adorned with televisions everywhere like many brew places seem to be so you can focus on your conversations and the meal.
The food was great. We had a BLT sandwich, gumbo, and a grilled chicken caesar salad. The salad includes fried artichoke hearts and a house dressing with a very good unique flavor. It comes with garlic toast, too. The BLT was served on toasted sourdough bread and was one of the best I have had - lots of places can't do these right but the bacon was cooked perfectly, the tomatoes and lettuce were fresh and it was dressed with buffalo aioli and mayo. Served with a side of sweet potato fries. Heaven! The blonde ale was a good choice at lunchtime. Our server was Zach and he was friendly and efficient, and our food came out in no time.
We'll definitely go back to St. Nicholas Brewing Co. the next time we are in the area.

We visited Alongis for the first time in March. It is a nice restaurant featuring Italian food. The restaurant is nicely decorated and the wait staff was friendly and helpful. We enjoyed our meal. It is a lot like Olive Garden but it is not...MoreThank you for your visit. Look forward to you returning!

We enjoy The W enough to drive 1/2 hour to get there. The decor is tasteful rustic we prefer the quieter dining room to the bar area unless the cowboys are working in the arena attached and adjacent to the bar. Tonight my husband and I both had the prime rib sandwich with delicious hot fries. We both are partial to the house vinaigrette salad and ordered a dinner sized portion al a cart. With sautéed onions and cheese, the sandwich is quite tasty, however it is pretty messy to eat. Next time I may cut it and eat it with a fork. Both of us brought half the sandwich home- part of the reason we were full was probably because we both inhaled the small fresh baked loaf of French bread served with roasted garlic cloves and a generous scoop of soft butter which was put before us as soon as we were seated.

Took the suggestion from TripAdvisor and had dinner at 4pm after leaving the Du Quoin state fair. The place was nicely decorated and clean. The servers were all pleasant and attentive. They have 4 stations with a great variety of items. My husband and I each had 3 plates of food and cleaned them all. And one for dessert. We liked everything! And that never happens. I wish we did not live 2 hrs away because this would be our favorite!

The Corner Pocket is a hidden gem. It is a laid back pool hall with the best burgers in town. It has an awesome video gaming area and multiple pool tables. The food is top notch--nothing fancy but always delicious.

This is a fairly new Pizza Hut. I believe it opened in 2009. They have a large seating area, a GREAT buffett and even a drive-up window. The staff is really nice and they check on you frequently. For those who do not want to miss their sports or news program - they have four tv's playing different channels.
A lot of the Pizza Hut's only have buffet's through out the week, but they even have one on Sunday. It is always crowded which just reminds me it is hot and freshly prepared. GREAT place to visit.

This restaurant was suggested to us by a local, so we decided to take her advice while we were in town. We had both dinner and breakfast here. One can order from the menu, but we went for the dinner buffet. This buffet offered a lot of choices, so it had something for everyone. It also comes with a choice of pie for dessert. The only thing we did not like on the dinner buffet was the Salisbury steak. The cook must have taken and extracted all of the flavor out of it prior to cooking it. The chicken was moist and juicy, and the vegetables and salads fresh. The spaghetti was tasty, too.
We returned for breakfast. They have a nice breakfast menu. Our food was tasty and prepared quickly.
On both visits we had the same server. She was very nice and very attentive. She fulfilled requests very quickly.

One of the only Subway restaurants around that stay open late. It was a nice surprise to find it open when we had a late evening craving.
