We called in there approx 9pm last night not expecting to fine the kitchen still open. Waitress very friendly & helpful. Our food excellent. We were there for an hour, staff still very obliging.. we asked if they could call us a cab to take us back to Takapuna.... we waited for up to 3/4 hr. no taxi arrived. Then the owner of Manka kindly offered to drive us to Takapuna... we are so grateful to him for doing so. He told us the long hrs he works & he still had time to help complete strangers. We thank you again for your very kind gesture. Wishing you your family the very best...

I enjoyed dinner here, despite it having little in common with any Italian restaurant I’ve been to.
Dishes like Bistecca Mignon and Pollo Florenza exist only on this restaurants menu, and deep fried Camembert in a berry sauce would horrify any Italian. And an antipasto plate that looks like something a supermarket would serve up, water crackers and all. Not an Italian in sight amongst waiting staff or kitchen.
I can’t quite tell if they are enjoying a joke or simply have no idea what Italian food is.
Giving them the benefit of the doubt - surely they know - I will say the food was well prepared, very fresh and quite tasty. I do agree with an earlier review that the sauces are strangely sweet though.
The outlook, looking down Devonport’s quaint main street towards Auckland harbour, is very nice and prices reasonable.
Just don’t expect a genuine Italian dining experience.

My wife and I recently had a special anniversary dinner at this restaurant. We had travelled from Australia and booked this place on its reputation as a fine dining establishment. We were excited to be here, and to have this opportunity. We were met and warmly welcomed to the place. After a nice introductory drink at the bar we went to our table and chose both the large dégustation and matching local wines. We were on holidays, celebrating and we had time. It was disappointing however to not get our first “matching” wine till we had finished our first course. On a number of occasions we felt a need to stack the plates from our last course because the next course had been delivered before the table was readied. Some of the service was really lovely, open and engaging and we really appreciated the complementary celebratory chocolates. The “explanations” about the matching wines however was very quick, did not discuss why the wine was chosen, and was delivered quickly in a noisy setting that did not allow much real communication. When we had such high expectations; when the restaurant promised so much; when much of the service (though not all) was brusque; when we paid the high (but expected) price; it was unfortunately a lesser experience than was hoped for.

We only had burgers and fries but they were great! Service can be a little slow but the atmosphere more than makes up for it. Devonport is a great little tourist mecca in New Zealand which offers a great variety of shops, restaurants and souvenir spots. We enjoyed our meal before catching the ferry back to Auckland.

A New Zealand Experience, Imaginative Ice Creams, World Class Service In The Heart of Auckland City.
This ice cream shop is more of a destination/experience than an ice cream shop. The unusual flavors of ice cream are wonderfully creamy. The ice cream cones are amazingly creative. The shop is beautiful, modern, clean, small. The bathroom is a long walk around the corner, very inconvenient. The prices are high. You're in New Zealand so go ahead and splurge on a fun cone or popover and an amazing ice cream. It's worth it. I had an especially wonderful coconut milk ice cream in a chocolate lined popover.

Auckland's taste sensation in a warm cosy atmosphere with great service. Whether for a romantic dinner or lunch, a catch up with friends or family or for business entertainment, we can cater for your needs. With Seating capacity maxing out at around 40 to 50 (depending on Seating arrangements), it is advisable to make a telephone reservation. The restaurant also offers great wines, cocktails, beers and a nice selection of teas. Open 7 nights (closed public holidays)
Focus was on service and was geared toward getting ratings... food was so-so at best. The portions are large, overly sauced and lean on the meat portions. Not sure what you meant by "service geared towards ratings"? I notice you've never rated another restaurant so I'm not sure what you are comparing us to. What meals did you have? Regards.

Dropped in for brunch, staff and service was really excellent...breakfast served until late which was good...whilst most of the party felt food excellent and lots of choice the vege options are limited and had to make up from extra’s menu, would revisit!

New concept by famous Al Brownoysters, bistro food and great wines
Absolute rubbish service. Your staff should be ashamed of themselves for their unprofessional attitude towards customer service and working in general. As a customer it is disgraceful how we were treated, our orders not taken and moved along like cattle. We had overseas guests with us and their impression of New Zealand customer service was less that flattering. To the rude blonde staff member at the counter- you suck- you do a great disservice to New Zealand.
What the hell is wrong with your staff?? Stupid people.
