Covina is a city in Los Angeles County, California, about 22 miles (35 km) east of downtown Los Angeles, in the San Gabriel Valley region. The population was 47,796 at the 2010 census, up from 46,837 at the 2000 census. We love the food here. It's our go-to restaurant for Mexican food. However, if we don't feel like dining in a really noisy place, we go elsewhere. I think it's the acoustics of the place. Plus loud people, crashing dishes, screaming babies... We're not old, but sometimes it's so noisy, we can't even talk across the table. Maybe it would be better to sit in the extra eating area off main room. Or maybe take-out would be good too. At any rate, I've never been disappointed in the food.

It's been a while since I last ate at Flappy's. I had not stopped because every time that I wanted to visit, the place was packed with people out the door (and I am serious, not joking). Since it changed ownership several years ago, the number of patrons have just grown like crazy. I started coming to Flappy's when it first opened and it was more of a locals place. We ate there at least once a week but then the crowds just started to grow and grow and GROW! I've never had a bad experience with the food or the service at Flappy's. In fact, Flappy's was one of the first places to really expand on their pancake menu. I would try one of their specialty pancakes and then a few months later, I would see a commercial for that pancake house with a very similar offering. Hmm...I asked the old owner (Perry was his name) and he said he had a few visitors from IHOP stop by so it didn't surprise him that he was getting copied.
Anyhow, this review is about my most recent visit in October. Since it had been at least two or three years since I last ate there, I was curious to see if service or food quality had changed. Well, everything is still the same and the quality is just as good. I ordered the lunch version of the Asian Chicken Salad and it was supposed to be the half portion. For a lunch portion, the salad was huge and I was full after I barely finished it. The chicken is grilled and it was so flavorful. There are also slivered almonds, mandarin oranges, wonton strips and pieces of celery. The dressing is just divine and I highly recommend this salad to anyone who likes Asian Chicken salad. You will not be disappointed with the quality and portion.
Let me address the crowd issue, we came at noon on a Friday. The place was still full and we had to wait about 10 minutes to get seated. By the time we left at 1pm, the place had thinned out a lot. Flappy's closes at 3pm so the crowds deminish after lunch. The great thing about coming a bit later is that you can still have breakfast and try one of their delicious omelettes, pancakes, waffles, crepes or skillets. I hope to come back soon but I need to time it well since I avoid the place on the weekends and my best bet would be to stop by during the week. Oh and if you come on a holiday weekend (Mother's Day, Easter, Christmas break, etc) forget about getting seated quickly because you are going to wait, wait, WAIT!

I never thought of this as an ethnic cafe. A little French, a little American, and a little worldly. Always something new being added to the display cabinets. Take a tray and tongs and go exploring. Perhaps order the coffee first s it take time for it to be prepared. Think Starbucks, but with outstanding fresh baked pastries.
Impeccably clean.

The Service: 2 cashiers. Service is slow, always a long line waiting.
The Donut: Tried the famous strawberry donut and apple filing donut. Hmmm... overrated. The donuts are overly sweet. Strawberries have so much sugar coated on it and the dount becomes soggy of the syrup. The apple filing is so sweet, couldn't even have more than a few bites.
The fruit fillings are great idea but just not too much sugar please.....
The Parking: Private parking lot and street parking (free)

It's been awhile since I reviewed this restaurant. During this last visit, Lazy Dog has changed their menus layout and I noticed some items were gone or under a different location. The first time I reviewed this restaurant, this place was really busy during the lunch. I was really surprised it was not busy during lunch on a Tuesday during this latest visit.
While I ordered the same meal, the quality was still the same but the presentation was different. They used to bring it in a bowl and now they brought on a plate. Since it's been a while since I had been there, it appeared my meal was a bit smaller from the last time I was there for lunch.
The service was the same and I didn't have any problems with the server. I will visit again. I hope this place does not shut down for a lack of customers.

Capri has been around for ages. They make great sandwiches and decent pasta; you can buy sliced meats and cheeses, pickles, frozen pasta, sauces, sausages, and Italian cookies here and take them all with you. They'll grate cheese on the spot for you, too. And there's seating in the back if you want to eat there.

First, let me say that the food was excellent. We were a party of 4 and we all enjoyed everything. Our main complaint is the same as most other restaurants, and that is when they explain about their specials, they should also tell the price. Vincenzo’s Terrazza is an Italian restaurant and the menu reflects Italian restaurant prices. One also expects that the price of the specials would be in line with other menu items. In this case, Lasagna and Fettuccini were $13.95 and $14.95 respectively. Appetizers prices were also in line. Even the wine list was in line with expectations. However, the special appetizers and the special dinners were twice the cost of the menu dinners, that is $25.00 each. While the food was good, patrons should be warned about the cost of specials, especially when they are priced twice the cost of the normal meal. Also, the restaurant is VERY noisy.

I really enjoy this restaurant. I love the atmosphere of the place; it feels like a logging outpost in the middle of nowhere. Sawdust and peanut shells litter the floor (the peanuts are provided to you at your table or in the waiting area, for free, around the fireplace). It can be a bit dark in the dining area and you may need to hunch close to the table light to read the menu. The furniture is rustic; at your table it is unlikely you will have two chairs that are alike.
The food has been very good to excellent on every visit; I’ve never had a bad steak there. The dinners (steaks mostly) are a tad on the pricy side. But to be fair, you do get a ton of food for your money. The steaks all come with a large baked potato and rice pilaf. And in addition to that bottomless refills on cheesy garlic bread and the two types of salads they place on your table (a cabbage salad and a ranch soaked lettuce salad).

We stopped in at dinner time on a Tuesday evening without a reservation and were promptly seated. The menu is quite varied with many interesting items. We had appetizers and a combination of seafood and chicken for our entrees. Everything was presented nicely and was delicious. Beers were also reasonably priced. I will definitely visit again.

Bison burgers! Yeasss. Super delicious although their gluten free menu offers a plethora of choices it is difficult to eat only one thing. Their gluten free pizookie is truly over the top good. One of the few places locally that offers bison which is delicious and nutritious. Thank you for such a wide selection of g-free choices and nightly price specials. If your atmosphere was quieter, you'd be too perfect
