Plan to cross many bridges when in Cork. Ireland's third-largest city began life as an island and now spans both banks of the River Lee, with watery channels running beneath some of its main thoroughfares. The best way to experience this hilly southern seaport is on foot, following the signposted walking tour past St. Finn Barre's Cathedral and the riverside quadrangle of University College up the hill to red and white Shandon Church. Along the way, you'll meet plenty of the city's talkative residents.

Market Lane is an award winning restaurant and bar over two floors that offers great food, amazing value and friendly service always. Where possible we use ingredients from The English Market and local artisan producers to make up our menu which has a wide range of fish, salads, meat, game and sandwiches, in addition to coeliac and vegetarian dishes and a healthy kids menu. We brew our own beer next door, have a coffee blend exclusive to us and use herbs from our greenhouse. Take a virtual tour or make a booking on our website.
The Market Lane Restaurant & Bar has a great selection of local cuisine but is also known for its steaks. The wine list has offerings from France, Italy, Australian, NZ and Spain and nearly every wine on the list is available by the glass. There is also a good selection of locally brewed Elbow Lane stouts & ales and a respectable cocktail list. I started with the soup of the day, leek & potato, then followed this up with a perfectly cooked fillet steak which was served with mushrooms & chips and a side of fresh green vegetables - delicious. The restaurant was busy, the atmosphere was great and the staff were very friendly & attentive.

Good value Food, drinks and IRISH MUSIC is what makes the South County Bar & café, Douglas a must when visiting Cork. Douglas village is a short taxi ride(3 miles) from Cork city and the South County is within walking distance of local hotels The Maryborogh House & Rochestown Park Hotel(both 10 mins walk). This award winning Irish pub has an old world feel, has a cosy snug and a wonderful outdoor area, 'The Guinness beer Garden'. IRISH MUSIC sessions throughout the year...Every Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday nights aswell as a fun sing-along ballad session every Sunday at 6pm. This pub also boasts a large selection of Irish whiskies in the Whiskey corner and serves the tastiest Irish coffee around !!
Always pop in when in the city. Very good bar that serves decent food. Fantastic on the ball service - really professional friendly staff.
Also have some decent live music - managed to catch some guys playing on Sunday's session - loved O'Neills March.

We serve exciting food with bold flavours in the heart of the city. Open from 8am, 6 days per week. We serve our own roast of coffee and an ever changing menu, amazing pastries, an exciting wine list and beers from our own brewery.
Delicious food, different flavours, busy atmosphere and attentive staff. Nothing was too much trouble.
Sat at the bar, enjoyed the halloumi starter, monkfish stew main and the market fish main then shared a chocolate board plus tried the craft beer. Everything we sampled was cooked to perfection and thoroughly tasty. Can’t wait to return.

Opened in May 2013, Gallo & Galetti is the new & exciting answer to modern Italian dining in Cork. The emphasis, is to use the best of local, artisan and international ingredients, creating innovative, fresh and tasty dishes. This popular Italian restaurant is a big favourite in Cork, with the added bonus of being economically priced. Our €25 Value Menu is perfect for that after work catch up. The 4 course meal includes a starter, main, desert & tea or coffee.Available Tuesday - Saturday 5 -7pm & Sunday 1 - 9pm
Save the best til last they say and they weren’t wrong. By far the meal I’ve had in 2017 and that says a lot. This is a restaurant that does the simple things excellently, nice decor, nice staff, amazing food, outstanding value for money, basically everything I look for when eating out.
The menu is varied and that’s the hard part, choosing what to have, and being a creature of habit I went for the the same starter that I usually go for when it’s in the menu, calamari, can’t praise it enough in G and G. For main course I went with the Pollo E Piselli and I was blown away, all the flavours combined made me want to make to main course never end, the puréed pea was 10/10, the chicken was succulent and the sauce was divine. I could eat this meal every weekend and never get sick of it. The portion size was perfect, not too big but big enough so I couldn’t even fit dessert and at almost €18 I felt it was unbelievable value for money.
Like an Italian sports car, this place just blew me away.

The Workshop is a local family business run by brothers Aiden and David. Our menu is very simple, for breakfast we serve, Organic Porridge with fruit compote, French Toast and Bacon and Scrambled eggs and Bacon. Our Lunch menu consists of gourmet sandwiches, soups, daily hot specials and our Tapas Salad. If your looking for something sweet you've come to the right place, we have a fantastic selection of desserts available daily. We have a large selection of teas, use fantastic Badger and Dodo coffee, and a variety of specialty drinks from Mochas to Oreo Milkshakes. We try to keep things as local as possible with most of our suppliers found here in Cork. We aspire to echo the service of the good old days and so we serve our tea in vintage fine bone China. We have aslo taken a backwards approach to the phrase "out with the old in with the new" in that you'll find the furniture found within the premises is either Antique, Vintage or Up-cyclyed.
What a gorgeous little place out in the country! Such a quirky little spot with a warm welcome , food was delicious, great coffee and I spoilt myself to one of there many Deserts they had to offer which was so tasty. Everything tasted so fresh and the staff were so lovely and friendly. Recommend to book at the weekends. Definitely worth the trip!
