When I have visited The Black Sheep in the past, it was always good, but something was missing each time. They never seemed to quite get it all right. Recently, The Black Sheep changed hands and I gave them time to make the changes they were going to make to see if it made a difference. It seems to have.
This was the first time I actually sat indoors, as before I was there in the afternoon and the porch seemed more inviting. The dining room was very nice, yet a bit warm, which they adjusted after a couple of us mentioned it. The music was nice but way too loud for my taste. It was like dining in a bar.
The menu offered many interesting choices, but I finally settled on the meatloaf, as did my dining companion. Meatloaf is not really my go-to choice, but I am not a big steak eater (and they offered many) and I didn't see a chicken choice that appealed to me. One of the specials was mahi mahi. I didn't see or hear anyone ordering it, but I suspect it was very good.
I started with the beet salad, which was excellent, different beets on mixed greens with a few other things thrown in, with a nice light dressing. My companion had the house salad and it looked tempting as well. The bread for the table was very good, hot and tasty. It is served with Blue Ridge Olive Oil Company olive oil and balsamic vinegar. . a very nice touch using local companies.
When the meatloaf arrived, I was very impressed as it was a very large portion with a tangy sauce, that was exceptional. The roasted asparagus side was delicious. Unfortunately, my other side, the cheese grits were not warm enough to melt butter. They were very tasty, but should have been hotter. I mentioned this to our server and he offered to replace them, but by that point I had eaten half of them. Like I said, there were tasty, just not hot enough. I trust he mentioned this to the kitchen.
Craig, our waiter, was attentive without being obtrusive. Two different men stopped by our table to "check on things", but they never introduced themselves and we had to ask Craig who they were. He stated that they were two of the owners, neither one mentioned the grits. We were way too full for dessert, but I am sure they are amazing.
In summary, nice dining room with loud music. Great service from Craig. Excellent food (lukewarm grits aside). At their price point, this will be reserved for special occasions.
2 salads, 2 meatloaf entrees with two sides each, water to drink. . .$80.27 including tax and tip.

We stopped in for lunch after riding the Blue Ridge Scenic Railway into town. We picked Kenny's after seeing the good reviews on TripAdvisor, and they didn't disappoint. We had the best cheese pizza, some stuffed shells, stromboli, and even frogs legs. The food was all wonderful, and the portion sizes were huge. Needless to say we had lots of leftovers. And the prices were great especially for the quantity and quality of food. It is a tiny little spot with very limited seating, but it's definitely worth stopping in. Give it a try!

With very, very little selection of restaurants in the area we had no choice but to give The Copper Station a try. Glad we did. The food was good, service was excellent and the place was clean. Prices were better than expected due to the fact that the selections of eateries are limited. I would go back.

Three of us arrived for lunch at 1 pm on a Monday and found this place was packed. However, the line to order moved quickly and the tables were turning over quickly so we were able to easily secure a booth. Our food arrived promptly and everyone's was as ordered and expected. I personally had the hot dogs with fries and my companions each ordered a sandwich. There was no issue with us sitting and visiting and taking up table space since by then the lunch rush was over. All staff were courteous and personable.

The finest coffee beans, locally roasted, freshly brewed to prepare your favorite hot and cold drinks such as smoothies and frappes, along with bagels, muffins, croissants and more. Lite lunch is available including soup, sandwiches, chicken and tuna salad on croissant. New this year, New York style deli sandwiches.
The prices in this place are really high. For that you'd expect to get a decent lunch, but you won't. There is really no meal preparing here , other then a George Forman type grill. Seeing this we opted to be safe and order grilled cheese sandwiches. You'd think there was no way to ruin a grilled cheese sandwich, but we were wrong. What we got was dry toast with some cheese. Just horrible and for this we paid $6.50 each for toast and cheese.

Homemade Country Cooking, Great Southern Meals. Delicious Vegetables with your choice of Meat!
A realtor recommend this restaurant and the three of us had dinner there. I ask if the trout was fresh or frozen and it was frozen so I passed on that. We got the country fried steak; some got the mashed potatoes and green beans and I got a salad. I ask to have the salad brought out before my entrée. The drink order took a while to be delivered to our table and the place only had 6 guest eating, 2 at one table and 4 at the other. We figured out what happened when she rounded the corner and looked at us and abruptly turned and went back. Then returned with the drink order. She stated she forgot about us and got tied up checking patrons out and talking. The steaks were tough and mine had a fare share of grissel. The mashed potatoes were bland and the beans were canned beans. My salad arrived with the meal, I guess she forgot that part too.
We will not return.

Girls' trip up North & stopped in Blue Ridge to shop around & have lunch. One in group had been there before and we still almost walked right by it. In fact we did walk by when shopping and didn't know it. When trying to find a place to eat we crossed the street & just happened to see it. The apple pecan spinach salad, basil soup, chicken salad, BLT and the Turkey, bacon & avocado sandwich were all great. We were there on a Thursday around 2:00. Not crowded and good service.
