Cookstown is a town and townland in County Tyrone, Northern Ireland. It is the fourth largest town in the county and had a population of 22,838 in the 2011 Census]]. It is one of the main towns in the area of Mid-Ulster. It was founded around 1620 when the townlands in the area were leased by an English ecclesiastical lawyer, Dr. Alan Cooke, from the Archbishop of Armagh, who had been granted the lands after the Flight of the Earls during the Plantation of Ulster. It was one of the main centres of the linen industry West of the River Bann, and until 1956, the processes of flax spinning, weaving, bleaching and beetling were carried out in the town.

On the main route from Armagh to the Causeway Coast you can find one of Tyrone's most successful eating houses. Over the last 29 years Otter Lodge has established a reputation for quality and great value for money. Situated on a stunning riverbank location at the south end of Cookstown, Heather and Harold Moffett's award winning bistro is known throughout Northern Ireland for consistently good food and easy drinking wines at very reasonable prices. Orders are placed at the bar but Food is served to the table and this arrangement adds an informal relaxed atmosphere where customers are in control. Otter Lodge is open for light lunches and evening meals and has a lively buzz especially at weekends. Single tables can be reserved for groups of six to 14 in the Wine Bar with larger groups being accommodated upstairs. A selection of great value 'Lunch specials from £6.95' are on offer and due to increased demand, Heather and Harold have recently introduced 'All Day Sunday Opening', and an excellent value 'Evening Deal Menu'.
Called in when passing through Cookstown. The place was very busy as it was 12th July but they fitted us in without any dramas. Menu is reasonable & pricing is reasonable. Food was good. Place could probably do with a spruce up, but that should not detract from the good service & good food

Customer service is awful as the manager cant be bothered. The premises are old fashioned and the bathrooms need deep cleaned - on the good side the carvery is good

After fantastic evening meals at this restaurant it was disappointing to find the breakfast wasn't to the same standard. My scrambled egg was overdone and there were no options of mushrooms or beans to my knowledge. Staff however continued to shine.

What do I mean. Very welcoming and well organised. Friendly, helpful and efficient.
Strange menu - the best options were fish but you had to order these 3 days in advance. Request for any specials and we were guided to the Chefs recommendation. A paprika roast pork. Very nice it was to but not quite the range. All the usuals Duck pancakes though the additions of celery and carrot as well as spring onions was unusual. Spring rolls were good as well.
Offered chopsticks and then rice served on a plate rather than a bowl. Slightly odd but maybe NI prefer this style.
Could have done without the doorbell signalling either the door opening or that service was ready. Ambiance wasn't great as a consequence.
Drinks were ok. We had Tsingtao beers which seemed appropriate for a Hong Kong style adapted to NI requirements.
So pretty average really.

I have visited here before, but not for a while.
For starter I opted for the pureed vegetable soup. Nice.
For main, I had the Penne Amatricana (Bacon, Onion, Fresh Chile, Tomato & Garlic). Absolutely beautiful, seriously good and I most definitely will be having this dish in the very near future.
Overall experience 7.5/10

Been her for first time having been told about the place by a friend. We were not disappointed and like most of the reviewers, found the venue, staff, hospitality and foods all to our satisfaction.Yes, the layout is confusing with the cash point ahead of the serving area however this is a mere irritation, not a reason for being unable to relax and enjoy well presented, hot foods. We will pay the venue further visits and recommend it to friends too!

Waited 30-40 minutes for starter when arrived was it was cold. sent it back for the same meal to come back again microwaved. Sent back again permanently
Main course vegetables soggy and meat not nice . Server approached table to ask was everything ok while I was on phone , she was answered by a friend and told that everything was OK but she pushed and pushed till I answered her..made me me feel VERY uncomfortable. In the end I left main as Well. Whole experience made even worse by the fact I'm a type 1 diabetic and was getting weaker and weaker by the minute ..would not recommend this placebo nobody.

Nothing beats the Sinley. Nothing.
Consistently brilliant standards. Friendly, welcoming and the food is of an excellent standard. I've had pretty much everything on the menu but my favourite dish is the Salt and Peppery Chicken Stir-fry. OUT. OF. THIS. WORLD. I couldn't recommend it enough.
