I've been to El Gallinero for a business lunch and at first I was impressed by the place. It is really big and nicely decorated, ambiance is nice and tables are beautifully dressed.
The menu looks good and ample, and we chose a salad to share in between three people, which was difficult to do because of the way it was assembled, nice for one by impossible for the centre of the table. We then shared the huevos con chistorra that were nice, and then came disaster. We ordered "lubina" and "Dorada" which were offered with different vegetables and supposedly were cooked in a different way but it turned out to be the same thing on different fish. A bit disappointing really.
Desserts were nice, and service was quick and efficient but something happened at the kitchen and they did not even bothered to explain..
First time I see this in a restaurant with these prices...

I thought after two previous visits that it was about time I gave this restaurant a review. I've just returned from a family Mother's Day meal and yet again the quality of food and service meets the price they charge. It's a local restaurant that attracts people from the Madrid region. The set menu for €34,00 pp offers 4 sharing platters of fresh, creamy croquetas, pipping hot shelled prawns, sweet red pepper stuffed with tuna and oven baked goats cheese with a side of caramelised onions. I'd the main of solomillo or fillet of beef which was cooked to perfection with a side of potatoes and dessert was a sharing platter of chocolate cake, ice cream, cream & fresh fruit. There's ample parking if you travel by car otherwise buses from Madrid regularly to the village and it's a short walk to the restaurant. Great job team! See you soon again!

Excellent quality/price ratio Rice is spectacular, ataff is nice and very helpful, Menu del Día is great for the money and on Fridays you have to book far in advance to eat a very good Cocido Madrileño

Restaurant located in quiet area. Family atmosphere. It offers products of Castile and Leon; authentic morcilla de Burgos, mince the killing, ear, bacon, sausage, not forgetting the lamb chops "whims Shepherd" or other dishes like mushrooms "Pata Negra" Mussels in "Salsa Pastora" or Eggs Style Shepherd, ox meat, "to taste", and all this, we accompany with a good wine chosen from our small, predetermined, but select wine. In whim!

My meeting was delayed and I scrambled to find any restaurant close to the Montessori school in Alpedrete. What a nice surprise to find innovative and delicately prepared haute cuisine in a mountain town. It would be worthwhile to make the trip from Madrid just...MoreMuchísimas Gracias por la visita, un placer siempre tener gente como tú en casa!!!

We have visited many times on a Wednesday or Thursday for lunch with a group of girlfriends and it is consistently good. Thinly sliced tomato with garlic and salt, so simple but so tasty, the best fish and seafood prepared in a variety of ways, tortillitas de camaron, grilled shrimps, croquets, sardines, etc.. all to die for. The service is friendly and attentive and the price very well balanced for the quality served. A must visit if you are in the area.

We visited this restaurant with some friends who live in Madrid, and we loved it! The setting (an old stable) is beautiful, and the service and food were wonderful. We had some delicious sangria, and we had some excellent appetizers (cold asparagus with mayonnaise, cured cheese) and the meat was amazing - so tender and delicious. The fries were average, however. The kids in the group loved cooking their own meat, and the excellent Waitstaff changed the grills for us as they cooled down. Overall it was a fantastic experience. I can't comment on the price because my gracious friend picked up the tab, but I wouldn't have been disappointed spending a good deal for the meal I had.

The staff are friendly, the food is excellent and the prices are reasonable, what more can you ask for. Roast chicken is beautifully cooked but there is so much more to choose from.
