Stopped in for a mid afternoon snack. Sat on the patio, which at times was a bit noisy due to traffic, otherwise very nice setup.
At the recommendation of the waiter we had chicken wings tossed in blue cheese. They were awesome. Washed it down with local beer & hard cider.

Go tto cafe Du Coin for the steak hache. It's a Quebec version of Salisbury steak. I ordered it well done and it came out as ordered. It was extremely juicy and had this flavor of beef butter. Really delicious. You will not need to add salt or even the complimentary gravy. The natural flavor in the beef holds its own quite capably. Topped with firm, grilled onions and very crispy and slightly greasy fries; you can't ask for a better meal. Their beef & tomato soup has little added salt but has a very earthy broth, non-the-less. Combined with al-dente beans, noodles and chunks of beef; it makes for a good and tasty body warmer. The coffee is pretty good, and goes really well with the Quebec style bread pudding (I forget the French name), which is divine. I don't think I spent more than $13 on the whole meal. Cafe Du Coin is well worth the stop over. Don't let the Spartan look of the place spook you away.

If your favourite aunt was a good cook and ran a small restaurant, this would be it.
We ordered the Sandwich / salad plate for lunch which consists of a generous Sandwich (good selection) in a croissant and three salads: cole slaw, pasta and green. The restaurant is small but comfortable, staff very friendly and accommodating.

It's a Sunday morning in Coaticook, Quebec and my son and I head downtown looking for a place for breakfast, expecting probably to have to settle for Tim Horton's or MacD's. Instead there are a number of local establishments that appear to be well patronized.
We choose the Cafe Central for no particular reason, but on arriving find there’s only a few booths unoccupied The menu, which indicates it has been a family business since 1961, is ridiculously long, but since I always look for something different I zero in on the breakfast club. My son agrees, but makes his a super breakfast club. These are basically really good and big club sandwiches with the addition of a fried egg to the usual ingedients. The coffee is great too. The Cafe Central is an example of one of my Rules for Fine Dining. Rule #22 – if a small town has a McDs and and a Tim’s (which Coaticook has) and people are still going to a local diner, then it’s because it has to be good. Cafe Central exemplifies that rule.

We probably came on their busiest day at the busiest time as we found two tables at the very far corner of the restaurant in order to seat seven. As to be expected, the wait for the food was very long after we ordered at the counter and then went to the table. But the wait was rewarded with a rather decent hamburger with a side of cole slaw and fries. There was also a cup of gravy to dip the fries. Nothing special but it seems much of the town shows up here.

The restaurant is located in a rustic building. Even though it was busy (Friday night), we were shown to a table quickly. What the plate lack in presentation give you tenfold in flavors. I strongly recommend the trout duet. Fresh fillet top with a rosace of smoked trout and perfect trimmings. Very friendly staff.

Best bagels ever. They are home made and we always have a good service. I strongly recommend this place if you want fresh bagels.

Eh. Several locals recommended this place for dinner. French Onion soup was very good, but the Salmon Salad .... Chopped Iceberg lettuce with a few cucumbers and red onion with canned salmon on top. Disappointed.

This is the third Jack'o that we visit in as many weeks, and most certainly the last one. We ordered the spinach eggs benedict and the apple omelet. The eggs benedict dish looks like it was thrown together quickly. The presentation was nothing to be proud of. The cold spinach leaves laid on top of the barely cooked eggs, which were placed on half English muffins smothered with a tasteless sauce that had little to do with "benedict". The outside of the eggs were cold while the inside barely cooked yolk was lukewarm. The ham slice was see-through thin. The highlight of this dish was the home fries. The apple omelet's presentation was similar and it was the worse of the dishes that we had at other Jack-o's. At almost $30.00 with tax, this is a breakfast that we will avoid in the future.

We came to eat here a few days ago and it was wonderful!
The staff is great and the food is really good, try any of the steaks and you won't be disappointed. The best part of this place is the location and the decorations. It is filled with memorabilia and tacky little things. It's set on the water with a great view but I preferred to sit inside! So much to look at!
