Service is excellent the moment you walk into their door. Luciano is very attentive, so are all their staff. We'd nice sparkling wine to start (wish their sparkling wine glass is LARGER though). I'd their hot Fish Carpaccio which is so tasty! Partner has the Mozzarella cheese with Tomato but looks a bit boring though he said was very good.
We'd a gluten free pasta to share which is cook to perfection. My main course is grilled fish which arrive in small portion (exactly what I need after the pasta) while my partner had lamb chops. Both beautifully presented and taste so good! I really can't fault any of the dishes. We couldn't figure out their wine by the glass list so Luciano let us try their Pinot Grigio which is very good. We'd 4 glasses in total. Didn't ask for the price of the wine.
Total bill came to ~ 22,000 Yen ~ USD 210 which I thought was justifiable unlike T.Y Harbor.
Will certainly be back again & again & again! ;)

It just cant be better!
This is one of my frequent visiting sushi spot in Tokyo.
Sushi were all made-to-order, ingredients were nice and fresh.
Even as basic as miso soup was superb!
This is not an high-end restaurant but a mid-tier one with truly reasonably priced food.
One may complain service was not very attentive, but given the food quality and the price, I would say it's not too bad.
My tactics is to come early to queue, hoping you can be admitted in the first round of Seating, that gives you the shortest possible queuing time.
I would suggest arriving at least 30 mins before they open, and 45 mins if you want to be sure for the first round.

Takazawa

Reviewed By Andy M - Canberra, Australia

My gorgeous wife called it four courses into the nine course degustation. It is not a title she would bandy about lightly, and six months later she stands by her judgment. This was, and remains, she says, the single best meal she's ever had.
Me too.
We've both had some decent meals in Japan and other places before and since: Motoyoshi Tempura is sensational. Joel Robuchon, Tofuya Ukai, the kaiseki lunch at the Abudai Bekkan (if you're ever lucky enough to get there) - all fantastic.
But there was something about the whole package at Takazawa: the personal service from Akiko and Chef Takizawa, and the tiny restaurant's intimate atmosphere, the creativity that goes into the dishes, the attention to detail and sheer hard work, the flavours, and the visual feast. It is an awesome combination, and it was hard to disagree when my bride made her pronouncement.
I reckon the great strength of TripAdvisor is that -almost without exception - those attractions that consistently rate highly with a large sample group over many years turn out to be excellent. Takazawa is a classic example. It's absolutely no mistake that this restaurant has a certificate of excellence; that it has been rated one of the best restaurants in Asia and the world. It's a truly class act.
Of course, it is not cheap, and unless you're seriously cashed-up, it's probably best reserved as a special treat. But, if you can get a reservation, and put off the kids' school fees for a month, you're very unlikely to be disappointed.
Strongly, highly, recommended.

This was our second tempura meal while traveling in Japan - We have decided that we love Tempura! We sat at the counter and Kondo prepared our meal - the fish was really fresh! And the vegetables a treat - we regretted not getting the corn - our neighbors had it and it looked delicious! All was wonderful and we got a picture with the Chef!

This is my 2nd visit since 2011. The chef changed, the restaurant did not, so did the quality of sushi too. Now their menu has more variety, with pictures and captioned in English. Price is also more transparent and competitive. I'm surprised that the queue here isn't longer than the other 2 sushi bars along the same row, when the ratings on google and Tripadvisor showed this is actually higher rated.
A bit about this sushi bar, the chef prepares the sushi on the spot and asked for preference of wasabi or sweet sauce to be added on the sushi. The fish served is very fresh, and the fish sizes are quite adequate, not those which are thinly sliced. The chef would introduce each sushi and the type of fish it is when he is serving it. Ala carte menu is available if you do not want to try unfamiliar sushi from the set meals or Omakase meals.
Highly recommended sushi bar and I won't bet myself against coming here a third time when I visit Tokyo again.

Expected a lot from this resto after Reading all the great reviews. Lined up for an hour on a cold December morning. Finally got seated and the food was so disappointing. Tonkatsu was tender but very bland. Butagumi tonkatsu was so much better.

We dined early to avoid queuing. Great service and very tasty okonomiyaki. We ordered 2 different ones and were able to share with the chef cutting them in half. Large serves, so fresh and delicous. Washed down with a couple of beers, inexpensive dining. It was fun watching the chefs prepare each meal

Lovely understated yet highly rated restaurant in a nice little district of Tokyo. Book months on advance( we asked our hotel concierge).
9 course chefs menu with fresh tasty ingredients of the day- Heavily weighted towards exquisite seafood and seasonal vegetables.
Paired nicely with well chosen subtlety delicate fruit liquor or shoju and finished with dainty but elegant desert and green tea. Even scored a doggie bag of the most delicious rice made into takeaway parcels.
Greeted warmly by staff and even the chef waved us goodbye from the road.

Japanese people take their food seriously. It's like they're doing business with their appetite. The line can get pretty long here, but it does move fast, so don't worry.
Udon here is very tasty. It is silky smooth, chewy, and delicious. I also got chicken tempura and it was really tasty. I don't like undercooked chicken, but this chicken tempura was quite good it burned my tongue (I was hungry, ok).
If you're looking for a great udon joint in Tokyo, try this one. Authentic, well-made udon. 5/5.
