A perfect lunch spot for a reunion with friends. We each had a different item, from salads to sandwiches but all were perfectly sized, expertly prepared and beautifully presented. My Maryland crab soup was delicious and the chicken salad wrap with it was packed with a variety of balanced flavors. Desserts were European in style and taste. Wish I lived next door.

My husband and I went for a rare date night/birthday combo. Total was $9X.XX with tip. We had 3 alcoholic beverages (sparkler, Bellini, vodka cherry something) all were very good flavor only one was weak on liquor. We had crab dip appetizer which was cheesy, hot and bubbly. My husband had the tuna dinner with a salad and Hush puppies, I had blackened salmon with baked potato and broccoli. Everything was hot, fresh and well seasoned. I even wanted to eat more than a bite of my husbands tuna and that’s typically not something I like.
We had no wait to be seated. Our server was super sweet and accommodated our request to move from a table in the middle of the floor to a booth that had just opened up. The atmosphere was a bit dark (not too dark though) and quiet which we thoroughly enjoyed that is until they seated a family right next to us with multiple children including a small child in a high chair that kept throwing everything onto the floor and screaming. I realize they can’t help a child’s behavior but I’m glad we were at least halfway through our meal when they arrived as it affected our enjoyment of the fabulous meal.
We’re a military family in town visiting friends, If we’re ever back that way we’ll be back to eat.

Give me a cold Dos Equis and some Latin music and I am there! I had to try this place out due to the overwhelming reviews it has received. It was close to the hotel so it was a definite no brainer. I sat at the bar and the bartender couldn't have been more attentive. I ordered the macho and he got the chef to slice the beef like carne asada. The food was great and the atmosphere is unique. This place does not look like much from the outside, but come in and you won't be disappointed!

If you’re in for a creative meal then this is the place for you. Don’t be turned away by the grotty outside appearance. Inside, this small intimate restaurant provides more than just excellent food.
We’ll start with the food. We chose to graze on appetizers. We had three each and they were brought to the table one at a time. The creativity and fun on words shows how the chef thinks outside of the box. We both started with escargots. French bistro meets up with Southern Redneck. The most delicious crispy rich biscuit with salty county ham married so well with the elegantly presented escargots, along with a delicious sauce.
All the dishes were presented on different elegant plates. One would almost think the chef had borrowed them from the nearby Virginia Museum of Fine Arts collection. Quite an array of plates and bowls. The rest of the food was marvelous as is well documented in other reviews.
We love white table linen but the specially commissioned wipe-down table tops with what looks like gold leaf on a black background, all under a clear epoxy top finish, works well. The walls are covered in an eclectic collection of artwork on a dark plum-colored wall. The place is dark (in truth, perhaps just a tad too dark), but they think of everything. An elegant pen flash light was brought to the table without us even asking so we could better read the menu. The background music is well chosen and just the right volume. It covers many genres.
The wine list offers some very good choices among the less-expensive options.
The wait staff work well together and anticipate one’s needs. Thank you so much for not whisking away a finished plate when my companion was still eating.
If you’re into meat and potatoes and big portions this is probably not the place for you. If awakening you’re senses and a bit of excitement hits your buttons; go for it! You’re in for a treat.

Donuts of many kinds here, plus coffee and other drinks. These donuts: the yummiest I ever ate. I was a bit boggled at the many types of cake donuts(chocolate, blueberry, red velvet. And more). The iced glazed were great too, especially the maple bacon!

Second time eating here and the food is awesome. The waitstaff are helpful and they accommodated our large group with no problem.

We always try to stop for a meal at Don Pepe's when we are coming and going to Florida. Each visit has been fine, and after a two year hiatus, we stopped for dinner last night. It was, if possible, even better. Wonderful sangria, a superior quesadilla, and a terrific "surf/turf" special. Karla was a great server and, as always, the manager came to see if everything was going well. And, also as always, we bought a bag of their chips for snacking! A really easy "off/on" from Route 95. If you are spending the night, there are many hotel/motel options right at this exit.

Family operation I was told hasn't changed much in decades. Pleasant and efficient service. Not much ambience, unless you favored your grandparents basement and cafeteria silverware. Nice homey concept that fell short on execution, in my opinion, which is hard to say of an independent establishment.
They bring a cart to the table with a strip loin and ribeye, both nicely trimmed but devoid of marbling, for those who want steak. The server cuts your steak based on the weight you specify, asks how it should be cooked and what you want for a side. Steaks are cooked over charcoal briquettes, and came out lacking color from high heat. There is a salad bar that includes shredded iceberg lettuce and other vegetables. There was soup that was very good ... and consisted of many items from the salad bar cut the same way.
One of the people at our table has been going to this restaurant since he was a kid, and I can understand the want for nostalgia and consistent familiarity with the food. Not worth the experience for those in search of a really good meal.

Was looking for Greek food, walked in and saw Italian food being served was very confused. Was seated at our table and saw there was a very wide variety of food choices. They do have some Greek meals, not many for a Greek restaurant though. We had the lamb kabobs which were really tasty, had a salad which was small and a veggies. The service was not that great to begin with but got better during our meal. Overall it was good.

We found this gem of a restaurant while passing through early last year. Since then we are sure to stop in when we're passing through the area. Five minutes off I 95 south of Richmond. Beautifully decorated in an unassuming storefront. Everything we've tried has been excellent. The menu is a mix between traditional German recipes and contemporary American cuisine. I grew up in Germany and this is some of the most authentic German food you'll find. Attentive service. Nice wines. And the owner makes it a point to speak with his patrons. Be sure to look this one up and try it!
