We had a mid-week family lunch here, and were treated to a most wonderful 2 hours of hospitality and culinary delight. Antonio gave us a warm welcome, and spent some time discussing the menu, given the ranges of tastes across the family this meant 3 of us had the Menu degustazione ( a wonderful choice and all 3 truly enjoyed the 5 or 6 courses), the other 2 children were easily catered for by Antonio who was more than happy to cook off menu (steamed veg and fish fillet, which she enjoyed choosing from a small but very fresh whole fish selection tray, alongside a pasta dish and shellfish for the other). It is very rare a venue gets the thumbs up from all 5 of us, well done Antonio and team, we look forward to coming back. It is a little out of the way but well worth the effort in finding.....

Our driver, Francesco S, took us to this Enoteca la Cascina. We had asked to go to a place where we could do some wine tasting. It was a much more rewarding experience than any previous wine tasting (note: we have been to some great wineries in the Finger Lakes Region of Upstate New York). We met the owner Tommaso at his wine shop and Italian specialty story across from the restaurant. We thought we would taste the wines here. We were then escorted across the street to his restaurant where our driver, Francesco, told (in rapid Italian) what we wanted to taste. Five wines and five dinner courses follow, each one better than the previous one. Our servers Saverio and Rosella surprised us at every turn. Such outstanding wine, food, and service. A young female patron then help translate our thanks to Tommaso. And to top off the evening, Saverio (Tommaso's son) drove us back to our hotel. Once in a lifetime experience with some great paesanos on our trip of a lifetime (10th anniversary). Ciao bella and molto grazie, Nicola & Elizabeth Parisi

located in the hearth of Catanzaro city, Amedeo is the best choice if you want to have an aperitive, an espresso coffe or a cappuccino. but once there you'll fall in love with Amedeo's ice creams. from the very classical flavours (pistache flavour among others) to the newest proposal it's a real pleasure to eat an ice cream on a hot waffle or in a crêpe.
the service level is ok and the people working there make you feel comfortable.
thank you Amedeo!!!

The historic Bar Centrale is one of the most renowned not only as an aperitif, but also for the exclusive café and handicraft production of his ice cream. The Bar Centrale offers a wine selected by the major labels and a wide range of precious blends.
We dropped in as we walked past and ordered two Aperol spritzes and were very pleasantly surprised when the waitress also brought out bowls of chips and peanuts, a small plate of Sandwich quarters and a large plate of hot hors d'oevres which she explained...MoreHello Peter, thank you for the positive review. Come back soon, warm greetings from the Central Bar.

The locals already know about this place, so this is for YOU, foodies on the search of an authentic Calabrese PANINO experience. You won't regret it. It's seems like the best Italian delis in the US came to study here. Problem is, by these standards they would have failed their exams... How to find the place? Drive on the highway from Lamezia airport towards Catanzaro, before the Settingiano exit, if you're in a hurry, stop on the highway behind the other truck, of hich the driver is having lunchbox and climb the ladder to get to the old stone structure deli. If you can't handle that take the regular route. Whatever you do, make sure you come here ONCE at least during your Calabrian stay. It will change your life. Ps| skip breakfast on that day!! Buon appetito...

We stayed 5 nights at the Due Mari and had 4 meals there which were fine, but decided to switch things up by going to Al Mulino. We wound up eating our last 2 dinners in Tiriolo here. Great decor inside, like being in someone's home. Great food! The ricotta appetizer with pepper jelly sauce was simple, yet amazing! Excellent Calabrian choices on menu and prices quite reasonable. We travelled for nearly 3 weeks in Italy visiting Rome, Naples and Calabria and felt that best value and food was by far in Calabria!

My wife and I stayed in Catanzaro Lido for a week this past May, and ate at La Tana Public House one night. At first, the music was louder than we liked and we were about to leave. The waiter offered to turn down and we stayed. We had a nice, enjoyable meal. Not the usual Italian food that we love, but a nice break.

Traveling from Catanzaro Lido back to Lamezia Terme, I've tracked down this restaurant through TripAdvisor. Even though reported as open, they appeared to be closed (Monday evening). With my best efforts to talk Italian and using Google Translate, I had a fun conversation with the...MoreGrazie di cuore x le belle parole un abbraccio.

Artisanal beers by the dozen, a real highlight in Catanzaro. Not tried the food yet, but if they put the same attention to the cooking it must be delicious
