Castletownshend (Irish: Baile an Chaisleáin, literally "Town of the Castle") is a village about 8 km from Skibbereen, in County Cork, Ireland. The village developed around a small 17th-century castle built by Richard Townsend, whose descendants still reside there.

The graceful setting, with rich, panelled walls and twinkling Waterford Crystal chandeliers bestows a grand sense of occasion. Our resident pianist plays softly in the background while you relax and enjoy exceptional dishes from the kitchen of acclaimed Chef Philippe Farineau, recently awarded two rosettes by the AA Hospitality Awards, combined with much loved recipes of Beatrice Tollman and complemented by a fine selection of wines from Chief Sommelier, Robert Bowe.
Very fine dining and lovely service. If you stay near or at Ashford Castle, definitely go. It's worth the visit.

Moran's Oyster Cottage Seafood Restaurant Galway, The Weir, Kilcolgan, Co. Galway, is a traditional thatched cottage that dates back over 250 years. Today Morans is run by the 7th generation of the Moran family in the business. It is renowned the world over for its superb seafood and Galway oysters which attracts people from the five continents, and is open all year round
Moran's might just be my favourite restaurant in Ireland. Continues to be excellent with the freshest seafood and delicious dishes that make you want to come back time and time again. Staff are also excellent. Highly recommend the steamed clams, garlic mussels and crab claws, with lots of brown bread and the obligatory pint!

Wine Bar & Shop - serving artisan cheese and meat boards with breads and other small accompaniments. All products selected daily in the cheese & deli store below the wine bar. Our cheese shop (below the wine bar) serves Irish and European Cheeses along with other Irish Artisan products and cheese accompaniments like crackers, chutneys and jams.
Visiting the Cheesemonger shop we regretted that we were unable to buy a supply as it looked and smelled wonderful. The owner sent us upstairs where a handsome and charming Frenchman listened to our likes and then prepared for us a board of sample meats and cheeses with olives, dill, capers and bread. We added a fantastic Ginger Beer and had a meal that was very memorable.

Burke's Clonbur is a Family run Bar & Restaurant in the beautiful village of Clonbur. Our Bar is Old World stepping back in time. The Dining room over looks the beautiful Country side of Joyce Country, Enjoy the sun set from our dining room. The Burke Family are in Mount Gable House since 1922.
This wonderful restaurant offers a variety of food, not only seafood. The lamb was out of this world! Healthy portions, friendly staff, good selection of beer and wine. Prices comparable to the states. When we left, the owner smiled, realizing we were from the states and said, "Keep to the left and mind the sheep!" I had to laugh because driving Co. Galway and Co. Mayo, (particulary in the Connemara region of western Ireland) along very narrow roadways one does indeed have to mind the sheep grazing along the roadsides.

We visited here on Saturday November 4th and were delighted to get a table just inside the door. Usually when I go to a cafe, I can usually pick one item that I'd like. I went up to the counter and each and every cake looked delicious. I just couldn't decide so I opted for two Deserts and talked my wife into having the other one I'd like!
We started with the "Snowball" - it was yummy and I thought I'd ate the best first. That was until I tried the chocolate cake, it was another level. Finally, a rosewater flavoured meringue with berry compote, home made lemon curd - it was incredible! The Meringue was soft in the centre, I licked the plate clean.
Great coffee, great staff, when I was asked if I wanted another desert I had to think long and hard before declining - I'm still sorry I didn't try the apple pie though. Congratulations to the best little cafe in Ireland!

Visited here with my husband for our anniversary dinner and had some genuinely sublime seafood. Prawns and ceviche to start, prawns were delicious and ceviche had quite an unusual twist, very tasty though. Monkfish with mussels and Gurnard for mains, both excellent and extremely fresh. Portion sizes were good, couldn't quite finish my main. What really adds to the whole experience here is the staff - so super friendly and really warm and welcoming. Will certainly be back.

Situated in Brickens on the N60, exactly halfway between the towns of Claremorris & Ballyhaunis
We arrived and were greeted by friendly and helpful staff who asked us if we would like to sit by the fire as it was cold outside. The food was fantastic, I had mushrooms stuffed with white pudding, which were wonderful and then I followed with fish cakes. It was great to actually see and taste the fish rather than the potato. Him indoors had Cajun chicken salad followed by steak and not a piece of either was left on the plate. He had sticky toffee pudding and I did try a spoonful ....... I should have ordered it too.

Mary Ann's is a well established bar and restaurant in the beautiful village of Castletownshend. The current owners, Fergus and Patricia O'Mahony, are at Mary Ann's since 1983. We serve lunch and dinner every day from March to November and then November to March Wednesday to Sunday lunch and dinner. We have a restaurant overlooking the sea upstairs dining in our old fashioned bar downstairs and in season in our walled garden and vine room. We sell modern Irish and European cuisine and add some Asian Fusion dishes. We have a comprehensive wine list and an art gallery upstairs selling Irish and international modern art. We have won many awards for our food and are featured in over 40 guides worldwide.
After driving all day, The Castle recommended Mary Ann's for dinner. This quaint pub was friendly and the service was very good. Our meals were quite good, hot and tasty. The food was served right away. We all had seafood and would recommend that.
