The 19th Hole bar and restaurant is located in the lower level of the old Nick Stoner Inn. Inside it has a newness that is both charming and welcoming.....Rebecca and Charlie have transformed this into a rustic charmer making you feel immediately comfortable. We've had lunch and dinner there and the service has been attentive and food is all homemade and it tastes it! Charlie told us he goes through 30 lbs.of scallops a week! Have the hamburger or, for my taste, the spinach and cheese wrap which is abundant and outstanding.
Long story short...Go! You'll not be disappointed!!

Every meal that my family has eaten at Harold's Restaurant has been five star no questions asked! Harold's sister Dinah greets you with her infectious smile and makes you feel like your at home on a holiday! All of the waitresses/bartender serve you with a smile from start to finish! The home made soups, salads, bread & butter lead you up to a fantastic meal of whatever one orders and then if you have room (I never do) they have great home made desserts. If anyone asks me for a great, not pricey place to dine numero uno goes to Harolds! Check it out and let me know what you think and enjoy like I always do with my family!!

Within walking distance of the Holiday Inn in Johnstown, Sam's seems to be a long-established restaurant. Sam has his staff well trained, but they seem to be having a good time in their job.
The margarita was good, not too strong. I had read the portions were LARGE so I ordered two appetizers and couldn't get through them. My husband had the seafood canneloni and really enjoyed it. And the fresh bread before the meal....so good!
Glad we chose Sams!

This restaurant is different from all I've been to throughout the US and England. Reservations are strongly suggested. When you get to the waiting area you see a board with specials and the menus. Your entree and appetizers are ordered here. The furniture and most contents of the room are from the early 1900's? The couch cushions almost go to the floor. There is a stuffed bear, a beaver, an elk, a skunk and a pheasant in the waiting area.
Once you are called to your table your waitress knows if you ordered an appetizer and submits that order. She comes back and leaves a pitcher of water. Already at the table is a small plate of coleslaw that's delicious. We ordered the liver as an appetizer. I hate liver but this really was good. I couldn't believe how tender it was. The flavor was very enjoyable.
This was followed by a cup of soup.
After that out comes corn fritters and maple syrup. Do I even have to elaborate?
Then comes the entrees. I ordered the prime rib rare. Sure it enough it was rare and large enough to feed a family from a third world country. A bowl of creamed potatoes was left on the table and baked onions and squash was shoveled onto my plate - as much as I wanted and was asked later if I wanted more.
I should have mentioned that a dinner plate is brought out under the soup and needs to remain on the table. This is because your entree takes up an entire plate and all of the accompaniments fill the regular plate. And if that's not enough you also have homemade bread at the table.
All of the food was served hot and fresh. The wait staff was very friendly and accommodating.
The place is off the beaten path but well worth the trip.

Udderly used to be the place to go for ice cream. Not anymore. The girls working there are rude and impatient. The prices have gone up and the portions sizes have got smaller. Ice cream tastes fine but there are other places to go that are more reasonably priced and have just as good if not better ice cream.

I recently purchased a cabin in Caroga Lake that needs a lot of work. I have dined at Vroomans three times now and have been welcomed as if I was a regular each time. The menu is American food and everything I have had has been delicious. The burgers are juicy and fresh. The fries are cooked perfectly and the atmosphere is totally relaxed. I've had the chicken cutlet sandwich as well - cooked perfectly. I'll be going there a lot - and I look forward to it. They have a pool table, big bar and the place is spacious.

Good food... good prices... their calzones are enormous & delicious & their grinders (especially the Italian mixed) are my favorite (I am a very picky eater)

We were staying at the Microtel Inn & Suites down the street and asked the lady at the desk to recommend a good restaurant for dinner. Her recommendation was Romana's Italian Kitchen. This was our first time there and both the food and the service were excellent. I had the chicken Parm and it was so big that I couldn't finish it. Everything from the bread to the dessert was great. We couldn't have asked for a better server. She was right there whenever we needed anything. She was polite, friendly and professional. We were staying in Johnstown for two nights and after our first dinner at Romana's we went back again the second night. I thought the prices were very reasonable. Its too bad that we live 5 hours away because this could have been our go to restaurant. I highly recommend.

Quite a surprise! The food was good and the prices very reasonable. Atmosphere was ADK and the view is right on the quite end of the lake. Wonderful.

Building dates from the 1700ds very old. Some original details have been saved. Family operated. It has a dining room and a bar section. Very inviting friendly staff, flexible with adapting to your individual wishes. Wine list is not very adventures, wines by the glass and full bar Interior changes with the season. Good menu with daily changing specials. I would call the style, european with a french twist. Catering is possible Have had dinner in this restaurant several times, never been disappointed so far. With not much choice in Johnstown this place is amust to try... Prices are some what high end, however very reasonable for what is served, portions are big.
Went with a group of friends on a Tuesday night, which this month happens to be German food! Food and service excellent as restaurant was very busy! Reservations a must!!
Portions very large and excellent! Enjoyed the German dishes-chicken and veal schnitzel along with knockwurst! Entrees served with red cabbage and Tatar tots!
Entrees priced reasonably well and drinks always abundant in size!
Can't wait till next week as new month starts!
Great value here with fine food!
