We dined the first day based on the Tripadvisor recommendations after coming over on the ferry from Calasetta. We had the medlay of tuna as our main but spent a couple of lazy hours making our way through starters, main, Deserts, coffees and wine. Waiter was excellent and we were lucky the weather was glorious and we sat outside. The meal was so good we took the ferry over the following day and ate lunch again.
Excellent food, excellent service and lovely restaurant.
Definitely go to A Galaia

Over last year I have been several time in this place, on average happy enough to come back, despite high prices. Last time the room was too warm and humid (I was not the only guest swetting and complaining, in vain), the "frittura" absolutely mediocre (calamari hard to chew, probably frozen - although according to the menu they should have been fresh), service not in line with the standard of a place in this price category (two different waiters used the language rather than a polite verbal form, to ask their guest to hand over the dish, which was impossible given the concetration of tables in the room).
There other better and mor value-for-money places in Carloforte and - as anticipated to the maitre - I will surely not come back.
Good luck if you nonetheless decide to visit this place in summer!

Try and get a balacony table when you book here which you must as it gets really busy. Fabulous seafood and a great view of the open kitchen. Top notch service and a great place for a romantic meal.

Vittorio and his personnel are very kind and nice, consequently there is a very relaxing atmosphere. The dishes were all very good with a special five stars for the starters. This is a place where everything goes smooth and nice, with no bad surprises.

The restaurant is situated on the island of San Pietro, former colony of Liguria, right in the historical centre. Ssummer porch on the main road. We are the third generation of restaurant owners; the cuisine is a mix of Ligurian, Sardinian and Arabic traditions.
We had lunch here during a visit to the island.
It was the day before their big tuna festival, so we felt obliged to have tuna, although there was an extensive menu available. There are also set menus available for €25 or €35, which looked good value.
The food was excellent, and there was a good selection of unusual desserts to finish the meal.
Not cheap compared to nearby restaurants, but still reasonable compared to most holiday locations.
It was fairly quiet when we visited, but it looks like it will be very busy for evening meals, helped by its location overlooking the harbour, so it is probably worth booking if you are planning an evening meal there.

Walking around Carloforte we discovered this restaurant.
Tuna "Carlofortina" style was more than delicious. The steak was ok.
The place is nice with outdoor Seating. I do recommend this place for fish. Prices were reasonable.

We were bound further down the road at the more famous Andrea. As we entered there we were harshly notified we would not have been sitting at the table before at least half an hour. A more ptofessional crew would have invited to sit down in the lobby and have a white wine in between. This unprofessioal guy threw us out the premises. So we moved back to the center and had a glimpse at this Pescheria and enjoyed a top quality lunch with fish cooked and proposed in an extraordinarily cultivated way, enriched with savory background tales keeping the food far away from chef and cooking showbiz and keeping it where it belongs. Thanks Mario!

Situated st the far North end of the seafront, and not terribly impressive from the outside, this restaurant proved to be a revelation to us. Friends in our hotel suggested a visit and we reserved a table. When we arrived we were the only people in the place except an Italian lady and her dog! By the time we left it was heaving.
If you have had a surfeit of tuna, this is the ideal Antidote as whilst it serves delicious looking pasta, it also serves steak, the like of which it is very difficult to find in Italy.
My wife had a starter of carpaccio di manzo and I had the salumi platter. Both were absolutely excellent, freshly sliced and beautifully presented. We both had prime rib steaks and they were cooked to perfection and of the highest quality and taste.
The wine list is good and indicates the provenance of each wine on a map of Italy.
The service was excellent.
The only downside was that a number of the staff, who were very friendly, sat either on the steps into the restaurant or on stools in the entrance, smoking and generally lounging around, not giving a very good first impression.
Nevertheless, the food and service were good enough to warrant a visit.

Passato fuori stagione. Farinata buonissima e Ichnusa di rito. Buonissima la farinata, prezzi modici. C’è un bancone e qualche tavolino per mangiate all’interno. Ci tornerò sicuramente, anche solo per l’antipasto.

Finding pizza in Italy is easy, finding an excellent pizza in a family owned restaurant with a warm welcome and great service it's more rare. I recommend this place that is fresh, tasty and well served! Congrats for this nice little place.
