I hate writing a bad review, but my lunch was a disappointment. I usually have the bratwurst and sauerkraut dinner, which is very good. I thought I'd try something different. That was a mistake. I ordered the hot Turkey sandwich, open face with gravy & mashed potatoes. Mashed potatoes were fine, but the Turkey is not real Turkey meat. Thin and processed. I also had mushroom soup, that tasted more like pudding with a few mushrooms in it. I also ordered lemonade, which tasted like water with a twist of lemon. I usually like this place, because it is a family restaurant, but today was a real disappointment. Will go back in the future, but mainly for breakfast.

Retail Bakery
Calumet Bakery is a Lansing landmark. They have very appealing and beautiful display cases full of delicious goodies. The staff is always friendly and the hours of service are really convenient which allow the opportunity to get your sugar fix at almost any time you want.

Was in Munster for work and wanted something quick for breakfast. Nothing better than a donut!
I was pleasantly surprised with delicious donuts! These were fresh, tasted outstanding and there was plenty of variety! The staff working at Munster Donuts were super friendly too!
Highly recommend!

I visit this location one to two times per week. Jeremy is the best in customer service. The coffee is always great, fresh and service is quick. I have never had to wait a long time for my coffee! I have been to other locations in Dyer, Chicago and even Texas and have not found one that compares. Any staff member I have come in contact with is friendly. Kudos to the hiring manager!!

Trolling the Southlands for a late lunch, my phone led a jaunt East across the border, into Indiana. Never off-put by a humble storefront (best recent BBQ reviewed at a GAS STATION in MO!), I sidled up to the counter....
A very friendly young lady ran me down the daily specials, while a Q-master dude detailed the chili's contents. So, a pound of tips, sides of chili and curly fries (arrived crisp as ordered); we were off to the races.
Unless pulled hot from the smoker and chopped to order, tips are tricky - falling below oven temp they tend to harden and dry out quickly, if not sauced. These were neither, which might have dismayed some. They were, however, really well smoked and tasted richly of rub. Three puddles of their "not killer hot" sauces gave just enough juice as I dissected the pieces. There was minimal fat, and virtually no cartilage. The trim was excellent!
The chili was also noteworthy for multi-textured presentation of meats - one can easily tell what was being eaten. Just spicy enough, served hot. My only criterion for curly fries is that they not flop around - these were crisp and fresh. For a joint with no stove (only smokers and fryers), they're doing OK. If I'd wanted brisket, however - my usual requirement is a grilling and slight blackening treatment of the slices. Same true for hot links - a split and grilled presentation is best, I say!
Wouldn't have minded some cooked greens on the menu, too - but after all, this is NORTHERN Indiana! Overall, pretty well done for 20-somethings..... but room for a tweak or two.

This is the only place I go in Chicago land for Fried Shrimp. I like the Jumbo Shrimp. They are huge and they pull the tails before frying so you get to enjoy every single morsel. The batter is the perfect amount and flavorful. The Shrimp are always delicious, and I like mine with the Louisiana hot sauce rather than the cocktail sauce. Oysters, Perch, and the Fried Okra are also my favorites. I like the Potato Salad too. It is so delicious and it is inexpensive. There is always a wait at this place, so I like to call my order in. They take cash and credit cards. There's a drive-thru but it doesn't seem too inviting. If you go inside the food comes up quick so the wait is minimal. They have a good size parking lot. This is strictly takeout. There are no tables or seating. You will not be disappointed in the selection, the size of the portions or the taste.

My wife and I have been coming to this place for some 20 plus years. We've even moved and still if we are going to be anywhere near this place we must stop. We brought our kids here when they were little, now my kids are bring their kids. That is a testimonial to how good the food has been over these years.
I simply cannot say enough good things about this place. The food is some of the best Mexican food we've ever eaten.
My only suggestion, the steak tacos, the steak was cut up in tiny little pieces with some being a bit hard, liked sitting a bit to long. We really didn't taste the steak because of this. We were hoping for strips of steak and would suggest this approach to the management.
FYI, I would have given this place an excellent rating if it hadn't been for the steak tacos.

Nice little lunch spot. Be aware this is a takeout only place no outside eating either... but worth it to take home had the lunch special with a side of crab Rangoon very good as well... we will be happy to return again next time in the area.

It seems like it is hard to find a really good Mediterranean restaurant, but you may be close when you dine at Mishkenut Mediterranean Cuisine. Along Ridge Rd., west of Calumet Ave., you will find that there is plenty of parking in the rear, along with a rear entrance. We happened to be here for lunch, so we took advantage of the lunch specials, which we found to be really good. Everything that we tried was quite tasty. The staff is friendly & efficient and the prices are quite reasonable.
