Stop in and try our amazing breakfasts with the best homemade sausage gravy around and fresh baked bread daily! And for lunch real hand patties burgers...NO frozen burgers here!, Homemade soups are made fresh from scratch daily along with our daily specials!! !! Now serving local brewed Angry Minnow beer!!other beer and wine also available!!
A homey small place south of Cable, we eat there about once a week when we are visiting family in the area. Excellent pancakes. Excellent biscuits and gravy. The bacon and sausage and eggs over easy aren't bad either. And sometimes, in the summer, they are taken over by a guy with a pit barbecue who makes a mean brisket and succulent ribs that would be well received in Texas!

Nice decor and lots of outside seating. It is more a coffee shop than cafe. Order at the counter. Desserts were $7 and $8. They advertised wifi and had the passeord on the wall. I could not get on a d they didnt seem to care when I asked them to reset the modem. It was a hot, humid day and ac was not on. It is o.k. To stop at because its the only place thete, but no big deal.

Six-Time Winner & Member of TripAdvisor's Certificate of Excellence Hall of Fame, Rookery Pub Fine Dining offers the most flavorful and creative cuisine in the Wisconsin Northwoods. The Rookery's ever-changing menu features weekly fresh fish specials, beef & bison steak, specialty salads, housemade soups, and other creative dishes incorporating fresh seasonal ingredients from local producers. Including some of the best vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free options you'll find anywhere. Our full bar offers a great selection of regional microbrews, premium liquor, and more than three dozen fine wines. We believe you'll find our cuisine to be second to none in the Cable/Hayward vicinity. In addition to being the only restaurant in the area named to TripAdvisor's Hall of Fame we're also the only one that is AAA Three Diamond Approved. Actually many of our guests from much larger communities with dozens of great restaurants tell us we're their favorite anywhere. But it's not just exceptional food that has earned the Rookery a reputation as one of the most distinctive restaurants in northern Wisconsin. The stunning oversized nature photography prints on canvas that grace the walls of the restaurant lend a unique aura of beauty and serenity to your dining experience. And after a delectable meal why worry about driving somewhere else to spend the night? Instead feel free to polish off that wonderful bottle of wine or enjoy an after dinner libation. Knowing you can simply walk upstairs to spend the night in one of the finest guest rooms in the area. The Rookery and Cable Nature Lodge are located just seven miles east of Cable, on County Hwy M in the heart of the Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest.
In the middle of nowhere in the woods. Delectable dining at its finest. We chose the Valentine's Day dinner 5 course meal. Bruschetta, Yin and Yang soup (black bean & red pepper), Blue Apple Walnut salad, one ribeye and one seafood trio (lobster, shrimp, scallops), and a flourless chocolate torte. Amazing. My pictures do not do them justice due to the intimate lighting. Every course was presented beautifully with unique and wonderful food pairings (for example, the coconut panko shrimp was paired with an orange dill aioli sauce ). Our service was superb beginning with cocktails at the bar first. If you are a foodie, look no further. Put this on your list when you find yourself in the Northwoods. Oh, and then there's the ultra-cute, well-trained mascot who you will meet in the bar but does not enter the dining space.

Efficient, friendly servers. Salad large & very fresh. Superb baked potato & filet. Chef is willing & able to honor special requests. They also have an extensive, imaginative breakfast menu. Always good. Beautiful setting right on Lake Namekagon, with most tables having a lake view.

Really good pizza and salads. Focaccia was good too, though not spectacular. Several good options for vegetarians.
The bike and x-country ski bibs on the wall were amazing. From all over the country (world?).
Lot's of drink options.
Large and small tables for any size group. Indoor and outdoor seating with a small fire pit.
Very family friendly.

We expected a somewhat premier resort but it appears it's been hard to keep up with maintenance.....cracked sidewalks, broken deck table, and the deck is in bad need of stain! But, we came to eat & weren't disappointed there. We had burgers & they were very good. The server was very friendly & we figured she must be the only one there at the time since we had to ask for more water, then a knife, & then a fork (the burgers have so much good stuff, they overflow). I would come back again for the food but knowing what I know now, I'd ask for utensils when the order is served.

Stopped by in the middle of the week to order a pizza for takeout. Restaurant was fairly busy at the time but became much busier by the time I left with food. Location is right next to the lake, so a number of diners are people docking their boats outside and crossing the street to the restaurant. People dining at the Loon Saloon can have a good view of the lake as they eat as well.
Food is very good, and most everybody recommends the spot for their pizza. Good price and good service as well. Staff is polite and very friendly.

Visit this place once a year and like always, the food didn't disappoint. Love my bionic burgers. Was surprised that two bionic burgers cost $25, esp since they only come with chips though. Bartenders are friendly and make great drinks. See you next year.

They do all of the usual breakfast items well, and while there is nothing wrong with the food, the service is pretty great. The young lady that manages the entire small dining room of maybe 30 seats nearly runs when she has to and does a marvelous job.

We chose this eatery based on location near to the house we were renting. It is part of a resort, has definitely a bar like atmosphere with multiple TVs, lots of loud bar patrons having a good time with friends and family. It seemed like everyone knew each other (except for us of course). Waitress was great, very upbeat, working her tail off as it seemed like she was the only one for the whole bar. The cook was working like crazy as well. The food was overall good- your typical bar food, nothing fancy. Seemed like a good place to meet your friends/family, have a few beers and have a bite to eat. Nothing extremely special, the most noteworthy part is the hard working staff.
