‘There will come a day when our championing of this brilliant French restaurant means we will not be able to book a seat there due to it being so busy! Until that time we will simply state our great admiration for the cuisine, wine and new décor.’ East Anglia Daily Times
We've been recommended this restaurant for a number of years but, as it's an hour's drive from home, we'd not made the trip until today. How stupid had we been, this is a top drawer restaurant with excellent food, wines and service. The menu had been carefully put together and the food cooked and presented to perfection, with a tasty amuse-bouche offered before the starter.
The 3 course à la carte menu was very reasonably priced and good wines were available by the glass. We will return.

We knowthat not everyone wants the same thing from a pub. You might want a pint of local real ale at the bar ... A bottle of wine and a grazing board on the sofas ... A meal in the dining room ... A really good coffee and a read of the paper ... Take your pick. If real ale is your thing, look no further. We offer our own Brewshed Best Bitter and Pale Ale plus a couple of guest ales. We're passionate about wine and have created an award winning list Which offers a selection of old favorites combined with some more unusual and quirky wines. The common theme is did we believe They Are all well made wines offering good value for money. Every single one of our wines are available by the glass (except some champagnes). On the food side, the emphasis is on good quality, seasonal produce and, wherever Possible, we source it locally. We love Sunday lunch and offer a great roast - bring the family or meet up with friends and catch up on your way. We're open from noon until late. So if you're in need of a locally roasted coffee in the afternoon, you know where to come. Free wi-fi is available Throughout the pub. What about the kids? Children are welcome in the bar before 6pm and 8pm in the restaurant but evenings are just for the grown ups. Our kids menu is Important to us. It is Aimed at children under 8 and each dish is freshly prepared. You can therefore order a roast pork or beef kids on Sundays. Where Possible, we are very happy to prepare smaller Portions from our main menu. Baby changing facilities, high chairs, activity sheets and crayons are available.
So we were lucky enough to win a voucher in a raffle for a meal for four at the One Bull last year . We booked for October and the Poor One Bull was scuppered by the fire .
The voucher ran out in December but Naomi confirmed the voucher would be good for when the One Bull re opened which was extremely good of them .
So last night was the first chance we got to go with our neighbours , it was great to be back as we had missed the pub as our “ go to place “
A very busy Saturday night , great atmosphere and as always a warm welcome .
All four of us had different food , each and every course was fantastic , in fact this was one of the best meals we’ve had in a while , all,our food was well presented and so delicious . Service was great , our drinks were kept topped up .
The best bit had to be the desert sharing boards , yum yum yum .
It’s great to see the One Bull back, and clearly on top of its game.

Having been working in Bury St Edmunds for nearly two years, I finally made the effort to check out the local eateries.
Pea porridge was at the top of my list. As described by the Good Food Guide, it is really 'something quite special'.
As major food and drink lovers, Justin (head chef // co-owner) and Jurga (front of house // co-owner) put a great deal of passion, effort and love into creating a rustic yet oh-so appropriate environment to enjoy head-to-tail cuisine with Mediterranean flourishes.
True champions of the ingredients and produce speaking for itself; paired with exquisite and unusual wines, Pea Porridge really has got it all.
My buddy and I enjoyed 3 courses, with not a single complaint across the board.
Truly exceptional that a place as good as this is able to thrive in Suffolk! It is an absolute must to visit, whether in town to socialise, work or explore, please add Pea Porridge to your list of Bury St Edmunds 'hot-spots'.

Went to Baileys 2 for breakfast with my wife today. I had scrambled egg, sausage and bacon with toast which was well cooked and nice and hot. The sausages were particularly yummy. My wife had Welsh rarebit and said it was one of the best she had ever had. The service was quick and very friendly. Excellent overall and thoroughly recommended.

The Blue Boar is a Traditional Country pub set in the Beautiful Village of Walsham-le-Willows. We served good quality, homemade food and all ingredients are sourced from suppliers within a 10 mile radius of the pub. The Blue Boar is a family run business and also our home so we make a special effort to ensure that people are made to feel welcome. We have a fantastic enclosed back garden with children's play area which is overlooked by the beautiful St Mary's Church. The Blue Boar is not a restaurant but it is a traditional, homely, village pub with a quality food offering ,open fires and low beams. Adam, Liz and their 2 children welcome you to the Blue Boar and are confident you will enjoy your visit.
Scathing words like these are often uttered in response to poor food, poor service and dissatisfaction.
You will not hear words like these though from visitors to The Blue Boar.
This small historic Inn in the centre of a village, near Ickworth and Bury St Edmunds,is run by landlord Jo, his wife Ruth and daughter Abigail, a team concerned to provide the best service they can.
Food is 'home cooked' and tastes the better for it. Portions are generous and well presented. Ingredients are local, particularly the excellent meat products sourced from the village butcher.
Our 'pop in' for coffer one morning became a most enjoyable lunch visit too.
It was one that has left us with a feeling of a team wanting to ensure that their guests left them feeling very satisfied. We did and we felt we had got more than we paid for.
We hope to return soon.

We visited Bury St Edmunds for a birthday break and booked a table at The Voujon (based on TA reviews) and we were not disappointed!! The food was delicious, the portions were generous and the service excellent. We ate there last Monday and were so pleased we had booked a table as the restaurant appeared quite full and we could have been disappointed. We have eaten at many indian restaurants all over the country and this food was top notch!! We thoroughly enjoyed our meal and our evening in Bury St Edmunds.

Local English-Greek Cafe
If you like greek food then this a must. A small cafe/restaurant serving big flavours in all the normal favourites of that greek holiday you wish you were on in the middle of an English January. I have no doubt it will be just as good in the warmer weather when you sit outside . If you are in Bury you must give it a look

Our inspiration for the food and design of Cote is a modern interpretation of the many famous bistros of Paris. Inspired by new trends, we are dedicated to serving authentic classic brasserie dishes with a modern twist, using high quality produce at great prices. On the menu, guests will always find brasserie favourites on our a la carte menu such as steak frites, moules marinieres, corn-fed chicken from rural Brittany and tuna Nicoise, for dessert, Cote's creme caramel and creme brulee are much-loved house specialities. Seasonality and Cote's commitment to sourcing high-quality ingredients results in a monthly changing specials menu, ensuring there is always something new to delight regular guests and gastronomes alike, as well as the excellent value set menu. Open early every day for breakfast, through to lunch and dinner; Cote's atmosphere is informal and friendly.
We have eaten here several times and we are always impressed with the smart but relaxing décor, the friendly and efficient staff and the excellent food.
It is the sort of restaurant you would just love to come across in any town at home or abroad but often struggle to find when you just want a decent meal in pleasant surroundings.

After countless family recommendations we visited on the 15th February for the first time and we were not disappointed. The staff and service they provided were as good as Michelin star restaurants we have visited, noting was too much trouble and their knowledge of wine was superb. The surroundings / interior are lovely and in keeping with the location. The food we found to be faultless,
