Desde 1962, 52 Anos de servicio. Una Verdadera Tradicion Dominicana!
As a native Dominican, I've eaten alot of good meals at Dominican restaurants in New York. But I must say, Tipico Bonao really exceeded my expectations. The food was delicious, the restaurant meticulously cared for, and the service was excellent. I am looking forward to my next meal there when I go back to the country.

Many reviewers rave about Miguelina's clean bathrooms (mouthwash included). But for us it's the alfajor that we will miss most. The texture is simply out of this world while the dulce de leche is perfectly smooth and not overly sweet (perhaps better than Argentina's). Even old-fashioned classics like raisin cookies and palmiers are divine! So make sure you stop there on the way from Santo Domingo to Santiago de los Cabelleros or the north coast.

Wanted to try something different, normally eat at Tipico de Bonao and it was packed. The air conditioned room has the worst acoustics imaginable, an echo chamber, but cool. Wait staff was terribly disorganized and inefficient, but friendly. Ordered a Sandwich and chicharrones de pollo (fried chicken pieces), they were no initially too busy and it still took over an hour to get the food which came out in batches over 15 min. Pork Sandwich was pretty good, chicken was not hot, suppose that is why it took so long, cooling down period. Desert was a stale cake. Wish them lots of luck they have the potential.

Travelers beware, this food is not for the faint of heart.
However, as far as "Frituras" go, this is the Cadillac of them all.
Makes an interesting eating spot and it will give you something to talk about when you start reminiscing about the time you decided to stop in the middle of the Autopista Duarte and have a bunch of fried meats and more.
