L'Ambassade restaurant is right opposite the station in Beziers so is easy to find in a rather down at heel part of town. My husband and I went for lunch last Wednesday. There were eight other people in the restaurant at the time. The decor is fairly dull inside and it is difficult to tell if the restaurant is open or closed from the outside due to strange frosted glass.
A very charming maitre d' came and took a drinks order and gave us the lunch menu showing a menu for 45 euros and one for 75 euros. We thought that there was a menu for 30 euros as stated outside the restaurant but clearly this was not the case. However by accident I happened to notice that this menu did have another page and this was where the 30 Euro meno was hiding. Why not point this out from the beginning instead of hoping that the more expensive menus are chosen.
On starting to select our choices the waiter told us that there were changes to the menu due to the unavailability of certain products. Surely a restaurant commanding a Mitchelin star should print a menu daily and not rely on their waiter apologising for not having half the advertised dishes.
There were little welcoming canopies which were average before the amuse bouche which was definitely the star of the whole show. Foils gras with a warm foam. My starter of Rouget fish was pleasant enough but the monkfish tail dish with razor clams was very dull and for me the razor clams were very undercooked to the point of being tough and glutinous.
The cheese board was wonderful and my chocolate delice was good. We had a very good bottle of Minovois white wine with our lunch.
Would I go again? Not really - I question the Mitchelin star.

Nice and cosy place by the historic Madeleine church in the center of Béziers. Only french and fresh foods.

Notre restaurant est lieu de vie, simple, convivial. Ma cuisine : c'est de la bistronomie, cuisine simple de terroir, produits de qualité et de région. un service simple, efficace et avec le sourire. Menus à prix doux !
After 3 attempts finally got a booking. Good atmosphere and the staff are excellent (with one small exception). Chose the €40 menu (4 courses) but was disappointed when choosing a bottle of wine that they would not reveal what the main course was. So I didn;t know if I should choose white or red. Eventually a hint that it should be red.
Amuse bouche lovely, first course wonderful (basically peas!) and vegetables with main course so tasty. The cheese course is questionable as although the little pots of chutney are interesting I winder whether this course should be chosen and not given. Dessert was beautiful and my wife thought the best dessert we ate in France this visit.
The problem was the piece of meat for the main course. To me that is (really) important and it was within a wonderful meal and the 'meat' was a let down. It was a piece of pork and it seemed to have been cooked sous vide but then not finished off in a pan. It appeared to my English eyes like a piece of uncooked bacon. It was cooked and it was edible but quite honestly unexciting. I'm a great fan of the Maillard reaction and this piece of meat would have been better to have been finished off. An example of Style over Substance I think.
So a brilliant meal with a hole in the middle. But so good it deserves 5 stars BUT I ate 2 meals in or near Beziers that were better than this.

It was a rainy Sunday night at 9.30pm our hotel gave us two choices of restaurant sure to be open, one was closed and the other about to. Thankfully we spotted this Japanese restaurant and as is so often the case with industrious Asian people they were open and receiving guests. What a lucky find beautiful Japanese food wonderfully cooked and artfully presented. The service was spot on. This restaurant would stand proud in any major city not just tired and sleepy Beziers.

Superb new Restaurant, Bar and Hotel in this charming village on the Canal du Midi specialising in wonderful fresh fish.
We opted for "Le Capitaine" platter and were presented with the most amazing tiered platter of seafood and fish fillets with some stuffed vegetables and rice. Everything was delicious and beautifully cooked, the only minor criticism being that there was so much food, it was nearly cold by the time we were halfway through.
The staff were very cheerful and friendly and the restaurant was buzzing by about 8:00 pm. Lots of locals were dining there, which is usually a good sign.
Highly recommend, but make sure you're hungry if you order one of the special platters!

Au Pif Rouge, c'est tout d'abord un restaurant à l'ambiance typique et chaleureuse. Le chef, Olivier vous propose tous les midis un plat du jour différent, aux saveurs et aux couleurs du midi.

Situated beside the Eglise de la Madelaine this family-run restaurant was a real find. Service was prompt, efficient and sensitive as well as friendly. You were certainly made to feel at home! Food standard is of high quality and presented beautifully. Set menu or a la carte - neither will set you back very much and with a superb bottle of the local white a two course lunch for two with aperitif, plus one desert as an afterthought and coffees, the bill came to €60. Highly recommended.

Chanced on this bar while wandering around Beziers and so pleased I found it. The staff were really welcoming and knowledgeable about the great selection of local beers alongside British imports. An amazing selection of burgers, and very tasty fries. I'll certainly come back if I'm in Beziers again.

We eventually found this lovely restaurant! We didn't realise that the village was a lot bigger than we had anticipated!! We got there just after 1pm (they close at 1.30pm).... We were made welcome and were not rushed to choose our food. I had a lovely pizza with garlic shrimps and spicy sausage. My friend had charcuterie meats with a salad....We all enjoyed our meal
