We were travelling around the area and stopped for a coffee and slice of cake.
The staff did not even manage a smile for our entire visit, which is extremely disappointing. I expect a smile, at the very least, when I am paying.
The location and views are totally breathtaking and the interior is extremely well designed but our pit stop was extremely overpriced... will not be re-visiting.. ;-(

Just off the main street is this little cafe. Very attentive polite staff, a simple menu of very tasty food at a very reasonable price, I had jacket potato with tuna mayo and a delicious salad for under a fiver. I got the impression that many of the clients were locals- repeat customers- always a good sign. Unlikely to be in the area again soon but recommend this to anyone that is!

We took over Foxtons on 1st December 2012! The turnaround is now complete. We invested in completely new toilets, redecorated the interior spaces, opened a new Foxtons yard garden to the rear, a real suntrap! We replaced the awful charity shop Seating, invested in new kitchen stuff (which you cannot see!) introduced Bose sound driven by iTunes and improved the food and smartened the service up. Our general manager is well known locally and together we have employed two new chefs and kitchen staff. We introduced a comprehensive wine list and Proseccos and Champagnes. Wines from Majestic amongst others and we have 35+ to choose from Our new winter menus offer something for all from belly pork to 21 day aged steaks from local farms. Or, try our shellfish and fish from local suppliers. Soup and salads, huge gourmet burgers. Lunch and dinner service 7 days a week coupled with a variety of beers and lagers like Belhaven Best, Peroni, Guinness and a weekly guest cask ale Like Timothy Taylor's Landlord. So we hope you can come and see us soon and enjoy! Foxtons welcomes children and we have a childrens' menu too. We strongly recommend that you book for Thursday, Friday & Saturday dinner and Sunday lunches as we are often fully booked. We are open for food 7 days a week. Sunday lunch served noon to 6.30pm every Sunday
On the surface, Foxton's is a lovely looking restaurant. Well decorated and situated in Berwick at the foot of the main street. The Waitstaff are friendly and the music is good. That's where the positive's end, I'm afraid.
Went here for a Friday night dinner for a special occasion. We both had the same starter - pigeon salad with black pudding. Ghastly. The pidgeon was tough and impossible to cut with a knife. The black pudding was unlike any I've ever tasted, no seasoning and a horrible texture. After this I defaulted - thankfully, to a vegetarian main, aubergine stuffed with a vague tomato based curry, and an abundance of rice. Harmless, if it had been whipped up in a student kitchen, but not worth the £13.50. My girlfriend had the crispy chicken skewers and was equally disappointed.
Can't comment on dessert as we decided to cut our losses leave after paying the steep bill. Highly disappointing.

Under the stewardship of renowned restaurateurs David and Lesley Foxton, the Maltings Kitchen has been reborn as a chic and contemporary eatery with an outstanding wines list and an easy charm, set at foyer level in The Maltings Theatre.A simple, delicious menu is set off by incredible views over the River Tweed across the Georgian roofscape of Berwick-within-the-ramparts and the Jacobean Berwick Bridge. Perfect for a romantic dinner or an easy lunch with friends.
The Maltings in Berwick-upon-Tweed has established a well-deserved reputation as a centre of art and entertainment excellence in north Northumberland. Now it can lay claim to a growing reputation as one of the region’s best restaurants – The Maltings Kitchen.
As befits an arts centre, it is affordable, fun, noisy and unpretentious, with a friendly and helpful young staff.
I have eaten here a couple of times recently – a pre-show dinner before an entertaining evening with Rory Bremner, the second time lunch with friends – and on both occasions the food and the service was excellent.
The soufflé, served piping hot, is one of the best I have eaten and can be ordered as a starter or a main course. The same applies to their seafood salad, which is as fresh as you might expect it to be in a region whose main industry is still fishing. But they serve great burgers, too – delicious and really good value at £9 including crispy fries.
The Kitchen’s opening hours are a bit erratic so it’s worth checking – and booking. It’s open for coffee, snacks and lunch from Monday to Saturday, 9.30 to 4pm. Dinner is usually served only on Thursday and Friday evenings from 5.45, last orders at 7.15. But it often opens for pre-theatre suppers on other days with special screenings and cinema broadcasts.

Open 7 days a week. Lunchtime from 12-2 and Evening 5-11.30pm. We are fully licensed with a vast array of beers, lagers and fine wines.
We visited the restaurant on Saturday evening during a short stay in Berwick Upon Tweed.
The food was excellent and my wife who doesn't normally like eating indian food really enjoyed the venison curry.
The service was first rate and we particularly enjoyed talking to the owner who told about the proud history of the restaurant and its achievements.
We even received a complimentary round of coffees at the end of the evening.

Beef goulash was very good. Had sticky toffee pudding which was one of the best...just needed sauce to accompany the pudding. Looking forward to our next visit.

Restaurant offering a fine dining experience in Berwick-upon-Tweed. European and British contemporary cuisine, prepared using only the best locally sourced ingredients
Just spent a great evening with friends having a scrumptious meal. This the first time since they relocated as we have not had the chance and it served to remind us just how great the food and service are.
We will definitely not leave it so long before we return.

Popped into the Brewers Arms for a lunchtime drink and a bite to eat during our exploration of Berwick, good atmosphere busy with shoppers popping in for a warm on a bitterly cold day. Decent grub nothing too expensive plenty of folk enjoying lunch. Good collection of real ales, can recommend if you want a genuine, locals pub. The glass frontage is highly unusual.
