Stopped for a quick lunch on the outskirts of Cavan town. Patrick our waiter was most helpful and very attentive.
The Menu offering in the bar is full of exciting choices. Gluten free suggestions are also of high quality.
The sparkling water was chilled and served with ice and lemon.
The teas and coffees were of a high quality. Our sandwiches were excellent and nicely served.
This hotel offers real value for money with free parking.
We will be back.

"Happy and successful cooking doesn't rely only on know how; it comes from the heart, makes a demand on the palate and needs enthusiasm and a deep love of food to bring it to life." About The Oak Room The style of cuisine is modern Irish and the restaurant prides itself on using fresh produce in season; most of which is sourced locally. One of the main aims of The Oak Room is to give quality food and service at a reasonable price. We also offer an outdoor catering service where we deliver to your desired location.
Arrived for our booking, party of 8 and only 3 menus available, not a big deal I hear you say but we were never furnished with one each....a little unprofessional to say the least. So one can get over that but it went further downhill. 4 different waiting staff served our table and yet none of them offered a wine list and we had to ask for a second round of drinks. While the starters were good, the presentation of the steaks was mundane and service overall was very slow.

this is a family friendly cafe with a lot to offer the hungry traveller, with foods from all around the world form the american eggs benedict made famous by the waldorf hotel,to fajitas to fish and chips this cafe loves what it does and constantly update the menu to please as many as possible. so if you only need to take the waight off with a latte, or want to fill up on an american grill we cater to all. but if you feel you want to try a bit of history why not try our Guinness world record "World largest commercally available full irish/english breakfest" its not for the faint hearted.
My second visit here and it was good as I remembered.
They have a huge menu ranging from the typical Irish fry (anyway you like it), pancakes, sandwiches, burgers and everything in between.
We had a variety of meals, from chicken caesar salad with brown bread, bangers and mash with onion gravy, cajun chicken wrap with a portion of chips and a ham, cheese, mushroom and onion omelette with chips and coleslaw.
To top it off they have lovely friendly staff.
Highly recommend and will be back.

Newly opened. Tel: +353 4995 24089, Mobile +353 87 236 1133.Where Amigo's Restaurant in Belturbet was.
The food was really good. I didn't have huge expectations for asian food in Ireland but I was pleasantly surprised. The food was fresh, hot and perfectly cooked. I ordered the Amber Fire Chicken which was suggested in a previous review. Without knowing really what to expect I just tried it. It was really good. Spicy, but not overly spicy.
The only thing they could improve is the beer selection. I am not sure what is with all the restaurants in this area carrying american beers but they should get some local beers or at least some more selection of asian beers to fit with the theme of the restaurant.

65 Seater restaurant, american style theme, serving an extensive breakfast and lunch/dinner menu. Wine available. We strive to have a family friendly environment in relaxed and welcoming surroundings.
Have gone to Smith's many times whilst home and am always struck by the friendliness of the staff and the level of service.
Surprised to see some of the reviews here as I've never had any problems with the food - good selection, and the burgers are delicious. Could perhaps use a bigger size of chip portion but that's about it.

We booked DB&B at the Olde Post Inn after Reading several good reviews however still not knowing what to expect on your first visit.
To our total delight the whole experience was faultless and truly amazing. From meeting the friendly smiling welcoming face of Tara as entered showing us a newly decorated room at the top of the stairs. Well finished with complimentary homemade biscuits and refreshments tray.
We quickly ventured down stairs for a wee afternoon drink where Tara defiantly lived up to the the title of the hostess with the mostess! My other half had Guinness and Bushmills whilst I had the house speciality cocktail of bourbon and raspberry it was refreshingly delicious.
We had booked an early slot for dinner, we where talked though the menu and the evening additionalites that had been added.
Upon being seated in the dining room we here brought an amuse bouche of chicken, foie gras and red onion a delicious decadent delicacy, my husband had scallops and black pudding they were perfectly cooked so tender, I opted for salmon and crab cake definitely a good chioice.
Mains was chicken for me so succulent, venison was the choice of my other half it was so tender. And they were served with chefs choice if vegetables and potatoes. Portion size was very surprisingly on the large side I didn't manage to go finish mine (and believe me I have a healthy appetite). Service was excellent every wish was tended to.
Sleep was amazing one of the best nights sleep in a long time such a comfortable bed.
Breakfast was cooked by Gearoid and totally delicious.
In all to some up our experience it was totally enjoyable and truly amazing, you must consider booking this little hidden gem but schooh don't tell everyone we have keep this little diamond a little secret

Sophia's Ristorante, an award winning restaurant serving the community since 2011 is a family run restaurant known in Ulster Region for homemade food, delicious desserts and excellent selection of wines. Our menu emphasises the use of natural fresh ingredients, skillfully combined to bring out the best of a wide range of traditional Italian dishes. For all the dishes we use organic herbs, grown in our green house and free-range eggs from hens that scratch about in freedom in the back yard of our house. The food here can only be described as authentic - Italian food the way it should be. The menu boosts a wide and varied array of culinary delights including Steaks, Lamb and a selection of seafood dishes. Signature dishes such as pizzas are made with fresh dough and shaped the Italian way. Of course, our pasta dishes are not to be missed. Sophia's Ristorante offers a relaxed dining experience with impeccable service, unique atmosphere and emphasis on excellent food. This "Italian Gem" breeds conversation and good times, dishes of the highest quality while spreading the message of traditional cooking using fresh ingredients. We are also available for weddings, birthday parties, communion celebration, corporate lunches and meetings. Join us for a fantastic time! Delight your senses and spoil yourself with Sophia's Ristorante!
I can't believe that the reviewers who panned this lovely restaurant were at the same place where we enjoyed the best food on our week-long canal trip. Just steps from the mooring, Sophia's looks inviting on the outside and is warm and comfortable inside. We arrived on a Wednesday evening, a slow night with only one other couple at another table. The minestrone, salad (real fresh greens, not loaded with potatoes, Irish-style) and broiled salmon were excellent, and for two, the cost of 51.20 euros was more than reasonable. We chatted with the couple who ran the place outside after dinner, and admired the plants and flowers Sophia had arranged on the patio. The only shortcoming I could imagine was the young waitress who appeared to be shy and unresponsive, though appropriately polite. We may not return for another Canal journey soon, but when we do, this place will be on our list of great places to dine.
